Zach Bryan says he'll ‘never play in KC' (again?) after Twitter spat with Chiefs fans
You would think after he admitted last year to 'drunkenly' comparing Kanye West to Taylor Swift, and the Eagles to the Chiefs, country singer Zach Bryan would have learned a thing or two about trash talking on social media.
You would think.
On Friday, the 'Something in the Orange' singer — and Philadelphia Eagles fan — took what sounded like a jab at the Chiefs on X, writing: 'Where are all the three-peat people from last year?'
Chiefs fans responded quickly and things went downhill from there, as fans from other teams hopped in.
'You're clearly insane dude.'
'The Chiefs won more Super Bowls in a 5 year span than the Eagles have won in franchise history.'
'Eagles fan from *checks notes* Oklahoma obsessed with Kansas City Chiefs.'
'Did someone from KS hurt you? Do we need to wipe your little baby bum bum for you?'
'Go (bleep) yourself. You keep talking that (bleep) and yet tour here. Don't come back.'
An hour after his first tweet, Bryan posted: 'Please understand I will never play in Kansas City.'
The tweet has been seen by nearly 2 million people.
Perhaps he meant again, because nearly 20,000 fans watched the final stop on his 2023 tour, 'Burn, Burn, Burn,' at T-Mobile Center, setting an attendance record hailed as 'impressive' by the arena's general manager.
And he returned to T-Mobile last year with his 'Quittin Time' tour.
'Just tired of this dude always talking (bleep) but has no shame in coming and taking these peoples hard earned money,' one Chiefs fan wrote.
After Bryan wrote that he would never play in Kansas City, a fan responded: 'Great news. Take us off your live album too.'
'Done brother,' Bryan fired back.
The dust-up caught the attention of football and country fans.
'The country music star finds himself in a familiar place today,' the country-themed website Whiskey Riff wrote during the drama. 'There's no telling how many times he's posted — and then quickly deleted — thoughts and messages he's put out on the internet.
'As of right now, Bryan's current ongoing feud with a Kansas City Chiefs fans online is still up for the world to see. If history tells us anything, they'll soon be erased from existence, like the internet fight never even happened.'
Last year Bryan deleted his X account two days after he tweeted: 'eagles > chiefs / Kanye > Taylor, who's with me.'
He later apologized in a series of Instagram Stories, explaining that 'for the record guys I wasn't coming for Taylor the other night. I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong.'
At one point he explained that he gets in trouble on X too often and would be staying off the social media platform, formerly Twitter.
But he came back.
An hour after his three-peat tweet on Friday, he wrote: 'guys it's okay to talk trash to each other about football yall are weird as hell.'
He was up early Saturday morning preparing to go fly-fishing for trout on the Colorado River.
The Chiefs play their first preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals at 7 p.m. Central.
