Bicyclist severely injured in collision with pickup truck in Santa Rosa

A bicyclist was severely hurt after getting hit by a pickup truck in Santa Rosa Monday morning, authorities said. The collision happened at about 8:10 a.m. near the intersection of Sebastopol Road and Laurel Grove Circle in the southwestern part of the city. The Santa Rosa Police Department said in a social media post that dispatchers received a 911 call about the crash. Officers and other first responders arrived to find a woman down and needing immediate medical attention. She was taken to a trauma center for injuries that were described as life-threatening. The driver of the vehicle that hit the bicyclist, a gold Ford pickup truck, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said the driver did not display any symptoms of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and that speed did not appear to be a factor in the collision. Based on the driver's statements and those of a witness, police said the bicyclist entered a crosswalk at the intersection when she was struck, riding from the north side of Sebastopol Road to the south side. The pickup truck was headed west on Sebastopol Road at the time of the collision. The injured bicyclist is a 55-year-old Santa Rosa resident, while the driver of the pickup is a 59-year-old resident of Cloverdale. Westbound lanes of Sebastopol Road near the Laurel Grove Circle intersection were closed for several hours during the investigation. Anyone with information about the collision was encouraged to contact Officer J. Meteyer at jmeteyer@

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – A 13-year-old from Fond du Lac had to be flown to a trauma center after a crash with a vehicle at the intersection of Pioneer Road on Friday afternoon. According to the Fond du Lac Police Department, officers were called to the East Pioneer Road and Martin Avenue intersection around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6, for reports of a vehicle and bicycle crash. Witnesses stated that the traffic light for northbound and southbound lanes had turned green. Two dead, one hospitalized after crash in Shawano County As a van began to continue north after the green light, officers stated that is when the boy crashed into the front passenger side of the van. The teenager suffered 'significant trauma' to one of his legs and had to be flown by a ThedaStar medical helicopter to a trauma center. Updated: Sheriff's deputy shot man with knife who approached deputy, police say

A Frederick County Sheriff's Office deputy shot a man in downtown Frederick on Monday after responding to a report of someone having a mental health crisis, authorities said. The Sheriff's Office said in a press release on Monday night that the man 'approached the deputy with a knife.' 'After multiple warnings to drop the weapon, the individual refused to comply,' the press release said. The Sheriff's Office said the deputy fired once at the man, hitting him. The shooting happened in a parking lot next to the Olde Towne Tavern at 325 N. Market St. The man who was shot was taken to a trauma center, according to Katie Robine, a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office. The press release said the man was reported to be in stable condition at the trauma center. In a Facebook post about the shooting, the Sheriff's Office wrote: 'We want to assure the public that there is no threat to the community.' Robine said that at about 6:44 p.m., family members of the man were in the parking lot and alerted a sheriff's deputy — who was in the area — about the mental health issue. The deputy approached the man and ended up firing a gun at the man, hitting him, according to Robine. She did not identify the deputy who shot the man. The Sheriff's Office did not release further details about the shooting or the circumstances that led to the man's family seeking help. Other deputies also responded to the scene. Robine said deputies gave first aid to the man before he was taken to the trauma center. A knife was recovered at the scene, the press release said. Robine said the Frederick Police Department is handling the criminal investigation. The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General was contacted, but declined to respond, the press release said. The intersection of North Market Street and 3rd Street was closed off while police investigated. Police crime tape surrounded the parking lot, where sheriff's deputies and Frederick police officers were gathered. The Sheriff's Office asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact them at 301-600-1046.
