Cyclist (60s) dies after collision with van in Cork

A man in his 60s has died after a collision with a van on the N25 at Carrigtwohill, Co Cork. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following a report of the collision, involving a van and a pedal cyclist, which occurred eastbound on the N25 at approximately 5pm. Advertisement The pedal cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has since been removed to the mortuary at University Cork Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The male driver of the van, aged in his 60s received treatment at the scene. The road is currently closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and will remain closed overnight and the examination of the scene will take place in the morning. Woman killed in road traffic collision in Donegal

A woman in her seventies has been killed in a road traffic collision in Co Donegal. She died after the incident on the R245 at Bunlin Bridge, Milford, Co Donegal on Friday evening. The collision, involving a car and a van, occurred at approximately 7.30pm. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was removed to Letterkenny University Hospital where a postmortem examination took place. The woman's death was the only road traffic fatality of the bank holiday weekend.
