Wall demolished as van smashes into Broomhall house

A man has been arrested after a van smashed through a brick wall and crashed into a white Ford Transit crashed into the front of the detached house on Cock Lane in Broomhall near Nantwich, Cheshire, at about 23:45 BST on van flipped on to its side and the driver had got out before emergency services arrived, a spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were no serious injuries, Cheshire Police added, but the driver of the van, a 36-year-old man from Nantwich, was taken to hospital as a precaution. He was later arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and remained in custody, a force spokesperson said. Norfolk Police said officers were called to reports of a single-vehicle collision at about 04:50 BST but no-one was injured. A spokesperson for Optical Express said: "Patient appointments at our Norwich clinic have been postponed this morning due to an incident involving a heavy goods vehicle that caused damage to the building." "We are actively addressing the situation and aim to resume patient care as soon as it is safe to do so. We are grateful everyone is safe," it added.
