Saudi Interior Ministry Arrests 6 People for Transporting Pilgrims without Hajj Permits

The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday the arrest of six citizens for violating Hajj regulations by transporting 20 individuals without permits to perform the Hajj. The Hajj Security Forces made the arrests at the entrances of the holy city of Makkah. The Interior Ministry ordered fines of up to SAR100,000 against the detainees. If charged, they could face prison sentences. It ordered the public naming of the violators, the deportation of residents involved, and a 10-year ban from re-entering the Kingdom following the completion of their sentence. It called for the confiscation of the vehicles used in the unauthorized transport of the pilgrims and ordered a fine of up to SAR20,000 on those who attempted to perform the Hajj without a permit. The ministry urged all citizens and residents to comply with Hajj regulations and instructions to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims.

MAKKAH: The Ministry of Interior is continuing its efforts to prevent people without Hajj permits from entering or staying in Makkah and the holy sites, warning that violators and facilitators will be arrested and penalized. Hajj Security Forces at Makkah's entrances arrested six residents and 14 citizens for transporting 99 individuals without Hajj permits, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday. In a separate incident, the forces arrested two citizens for transporting 15 individuals in violation of Hajj regulations and attempting to bring them into Makkah. Penalties include imprisonment, fines of up to SR100,000 ($26,600), the public naming of violators, deportation of residents and a 10-year re-entry ban after sentencing. The ministry also called for the confiscation of vehicles used in unauthorized transportation and fines of up to SR20,000 for those attempting Hajj without a permit. It urged full compliance with Hajj regulations to ensure pilgrim safety and reminded the public that entering Makkah between April 29 and June 10 without a permit is prohibited.

CMA says investor compensations hit SAR 389M in 2024

The Capital Market Authority (CMA) said that the value of compensation amounts awarded by final decisions issued by the Committees for the Resolution of Securities Disputes reached nearly SAR 389 million in 2024, a 59% increase compared to 2023. In its annual report, the market regulator added that 921 investors received compensation in 2024, up from 597 in the previous year. The CMA also stated that it issued enforceable decisions against 171 violators for regulations and rules under its jurisdiction, while following up on the implementation of 45 requests. The report showed a continued improvement in the strategic indicator of the average litigation period, which improved to about four months in 2024 from over five months in 2023 marking a decline of 20%. Through completing the necessary procedures to address violations of regulations and rules under its jurisdiction, the CMA aims to protect investors and participants in the financial market and to increase their confidence in the market. As per the classification of violators, 35% of compensations were against those practicing securities activities without licenses, 25% against financial market institutions, 23% through class actions, and 14% against individuals and unlisted companies. RIYADH: The Ministry of Interior is continuing its efforts to prevent individuals without Hajj permits from entering or staying in Makkah and the holy sites, warning that violators and facilitators will be arrested and penalized. The Hajj Security Forces at Makkah's entrances arrested five residents and seven citizens for transporting 35 individuals without permits to perform Hajj, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday. The ministry issued administrative decisions through seasonal committees against the transporters, accomplices, and those transported. Penalties include imprisonment, fines up to SR100,000 ($26,600), public naming of violators, deportation of residents, and a 10-year ban from re-entering Saudi Arabia after their sentences. The ministry also called for the confiscation of vehicles used in unauthorized transport and for fines of up to SR20,000 for those attempting Hajj without a permit. In a separate incident, an Indian resident was arrested for transporting 22 visa-holding expatriates without Hajj permits, the SPA reported on Wednesday. The residents were referred to the authorities and are likely to be charged and penalized. The ministry urged all citizens and residents to comply with Hajj regulations to ensure the safety of pilgrims. It warned that performing or attempting Hajj without a permit from April 29 to June 10 is prohibited. The ministry has encouraged the public to report violations by calling 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, or 999 elsewhere in the Kingdom. Earlier this week, the Hajj Security Forces arrested 20 residents and 17 citizens for transporting 121 individuals without permits to perform Hajj.
