Bhubaneswar: Personnel of district voluntary force (DVF) unearthed a Maoist camp in Narayan Dongar reserve forest in Nuapada on Tuesday.
A thorough search of the site led to the recovery of a Tiffin IED, 20 gelatin sticks, an electric detonator, connecting wires, torchlight, polythene sheets and other items, said Gundala Reddy Raghavendra, SP of Nuapada.
The recovery of the tiffin IED and other articles indicates that the Maoists were attempting to carry out violent activities targeting security forces or civilians. The timely operation has successfully foiled any such nefarious plans, read a Nuapada police statement.
The SP said, "Based on intelligence inputs, we had launched the DVF operation to identify Naxal camps. They were about to do a big explosion; however, we successfully foiled them. The home minister has given us a target to make India Naxal-free by March 2026."
Security forces have intensified search and area domination operations in the area to track Maoists and to ensure the safety of nearby villages.
