All hail Jenna Ortega's (man-repelling) gothic make-up

We have returned to the Wednesday universe once more, for the second season of Tim Burton's well-loved dark comedy, centred on Jenna Ortega's titular character of everyone's favourite goth daughter, Wednesday Addams. Two years of anticipation and it's only right that the series welcomed a press run like no other—starting from the world premiere in London. For the grand occasion, Ortega defied the black dress code and opted for a skin-like Ashi Studio gown that looked like melted wax on her silhouette. But all things considered, it was her make-up that stole the show, as the young actor debuted a smouldering, ghoulish mien by the hands of French make-up artist Mélanie Inglessis. All the respectable make-up elements to nail a gothic dream, but yet somehow landed between man-repelling and a cause of concern for the actor's sudden transformation. The discourse on Jenna Ortega's make-up is indeed, yet another reminder that men don't quite have the right sensibilities to comment on a woman's aesthetic choices. Some things instantly come to mind beyond the ever so prevalent bleached brows: micro-bangs, baggy bermudas, black lipstick. Basically components that don't necessarily scream feminine in the conventional sense. And on the heels of a high-octane press tour, it seems most not in favour can't grasp the concept of clever method dressing when they see one.
