Stroll down the main drag of any midsize American town and there's a decent chance you'll spot a new cannabis dispensary. Or two. Or five. There are now more weed stores in the United States than Burger Kings, Chipotles and Chick-fil-As — combined.
It's easy to scoff at street-corner potheads. But the next time you smell the skunky aroma of marijuana wafting down the sidewalk, consider this: Those dispensaries could help solve a major public health crisis.
