Nation's No. 1 QB Reacts To 5-Star Wide Receiver's Visit To Georgia

Nation's No. 1 QB Reacts To 5-Star Wide Receiver's Visit To Georgia originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Georgia is hosting one of the top wide receivers in the country this weekend in hopes for a talented pairing with five-star quarterback commit Jared Curtis. Advertisement Head coach Kirby Smart's biggest recruiting win of the 2026 cycle came when Curtis pledged to the Bulldogs on May 5. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound passer was previously committed to UGA last fall before re-opening his recruitment. Curtis, the top quarterback in the country, was down to Georgia and Oregon before making his latest decision. With Curtis in the fold, attention turns to adding him some weapons. Georgia does have three four-star wide receivers committed to date, but that group would instantly be bolstered by five-star Cederian Morgan. Cederian Morgan, Class of 2026 wide receiver of Benjamin Russell High school in Alexander City, AlabamaKen Ruinard - staff / USA TODAY NETWORK Morgan (6-foot-4, 210 pounds) plays for Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, Alabama. He ranks as the No. 2 wide receiver, the top player in the state and the No. 11 recruit in the 2026 class (On3). Advertisement Home-state SEC power Alabama is projected to land the highly-coveted receiver. However, Georgia is making a push and hosting Morgan this weekend along with multiple elite recruits. After Morgan confirmed his official visit with a post on X, Curtis reacted with a post of his own. Morgan posted 70 catches for 1,162 yards and 14 TD as a junior in 2024. The multi-sport athlete also averaged 14.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game on the hardwood. Morgan has official visits scheduled to Florida (June 6), Auburn (June 13) and Alabama (June 20) before announcing his commitment on July 2. Jets named best team fit for top free agent WR

Even though the NFL offseason is cruising along and free agency is in its third or fourth wave at this point, there are still plenty of quality options on the market for teams that are still trying to fill needs. While the New York Jets addressed lots of needs in the draft, they could still use help, specifically at the wide receiver position. They have a star in Garrett Wilson, but after that it is largely a group of guys competing for snaps. Advertisement Players like Allen Lazard and Josh Reynolds could be in line for large roles in the offense, and they did draft Arian Smith in the fourth round, but having a proven weapon opposite of Wilson could do wonders for quarterback Justin Fields and the offense. In a recent article from ESPN in which Matt Bowen named the best team fit for the top remaining free agents, he came to the conclusion that wide receiver Amari Cooper's best fit is with the Jets. It does make sense from the Jets' perspective. While Cooper is 30 years old and his best playing days are most likely behind him, he would go in and instantly compete for snaps and elevate the WR position. Here is what Bowen said about Cooper's fit with the Jets: There's a need for competition in the Jets' wide receiver room opposite of No. 1 option Garrett Wilson. With Allen Lazard and Josh Reynolds next on the depth chart, Cooper could come in and fight for work. Yes, the 30-year-old is showing signs of decline on tape, but he is still a detailed route runner who can uncover. He could be a solid target for quarterback Justin Fields on play-action concepts, getting open on deep in-breakers. In 14 games with the Browns and Bills last season, Cooper caught 44 passes for 547 yards and four touchdowns. In nine full seasons, he has topped the 1,000-yard receiving mark seven times and caught 64 career touchdown passes. Advertisement Cooper would at the very least raise the floor of the Jets' receiving corps and bring experience to a young Jets roster. He is a four-time pro bowler who has six 1,000-yard seasons under his belt. Just two years ago, Cooper had one of the best seasons in his 11-year career when recorded a career-high 1,250 receiving yards (2023). Aside from the financials, Cooper would also need to agree to join a team that is in a transitioning phase at this point in his career. He doesn't have all the time in the world and he's most likely still ultimately trying to win a Super Bowl. Panthers WR Xavier Legette is asked about new teammate Tetairoa McMillan

For the second draft in as many years, the Carolina Panthers used their first-round pick on a wideout. And on Friday, the first one got to talk a little bit about the second one. Panthers receiver and horse connoisseur Xavier Legette joined Up & Adams from the 151st Kentucky Derby earlier this afternoon. Host Kay Adams asked Legette, the 32nd overall selection from 2024, if he's spoken to his new teammate Tetairoa McMillan, the eighth overall selection here in 2025. Advertisement 'No,' he stated. 'I didn't wanna text him yet. I wanna talk to him when he comes in, so I can build that relationship once he get in there. But he's a good player, man. I was even watching him play last year, seeing what he was doing—making some incredible catches.' McMillan, like Legette did last spring, now heads into the NFL off of a productive final season in the college ranks. The 2024 consensus All-American totaled 84 catches for a Big 12-leading 1,319 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Adams would then ask Legette what stood out about McMillan's game when he watched him play in 2024. 'Just the way he can go up and high-point that ball,' Legette replied. 'He kinda quick, too. He kinda quick.' Legette, who's awfully quick in his own right, will be looking to put his foot injury and the drops from his rookie campaign behind him. And luckily, he'll have a fresh thoroughbred now running alongside him to help right out of the gate. Advertisement Follow @ThePanthersWire on Twitter/X for more Panthers content. Browns Linked to Trade For Joe Flacco Receiver Favorite

As the Cleveland Browns attempt to solve their quarterback problem, they're also trying to work through a receiver issue. After re-signing Joe Flacco to compete for the starting job under center, general manager Andrew Berry then drafted Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in the NFL Draft earlier this month. Advertisement Those three were added to the QB room that already included Kenny Pickett, whom Berry traded for earlier this offseason. But the WR room is even more sketchy than the QB room. The 90-man offseason roster includes Jerry Jeudy, DeAndre Carter, Diontae Johnson, Kaden Davis, Gage Larvadain, Ja'Seem Reed, Jamari Thrash, Cedric Tillman and Michael Woods II. That receiving corps hardly instills fear in opposing defenses. Pro Football Focus thinks the Browns should attempt to trade for Colts wideout Alec Pierce. Not because of his out-of-this-world numbers, because he doesn't have those. But because he played with Flacco last season in Indy. Advertisement "Declining to select a receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft has left Cleveland in a precarious spot," PFF wrote. "The team's recent signing of Diontae Johnson is a cheap alternative with potential upside or possibly an empty addition, given his recent issues. That still leaves the door open for this offense to add an impact X receiver via trade. One option could be Alec Pierce, who played with Joe Flacco in Indianapolis last season, where he earned a 73.3 PFF receiving grade while catching passes from the veteran." The 25-year-old is a former second-round pick of the Colts in 2022, taken at No. 53 overall. In three seasons since, he's caught 110 balls for 1,931 yards and 11 touchdowns across 49 games. Last season, with Flacco throwing him the ball, Pierce led the NFL with 22.3 yards per reception on 37 catches for 824 yards. Schefter Predicts Major Changes for Bills

The Buffalo Bills may not have drafted a wide receiver within the first six rounds of the 2025 draft, but that doesn't mean the team isn't loaded at the position. Buffalo already had veteran players returning to the team, such as Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, and Curtis Samuel. They have recently signed Joshua Palmer and Elijah Moore to the group as well. Advertisement Add in Laviska Shenault, and KJ Hamler and it isn't a surprise as to why the Bills have some major decisions to make regarding the position group. That's something ESPN Insider Adam Schefter pointed to as well. 'Well, I think, again, it's a low-risk deal on a wide receiver who's got some upside. And I know that Bills fans seem to want Brandon Bean, as he pointed out, to take a wide receiver early on. And they didn't get a wide receiver, but they helped the defense," said Schefter. "I mean, they have so many that there's not room for all of them right now." Most teams keep around five to six wide receivers on an active roster. As things stand, Buffalo have seven to eight receivers who will be in contention to make the final 53-man group. Advertisement There are some like Coleman, Shakir, and Palmer that are no-brainers. These are players the team spent significant capital on whether it be draft picks or actual cash. Others, like Hamler, Moore, and Samuel, are considered to be on the roster bubble. One play could determine their whole future. This is why change will inevitably come to the group heading into training camp at some point.
