White House has files on $1.5bn Epstein money trail, says senator
A top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee claims to have seen confidential Jeffrey Epstein files held by the Trump administration which show more than a billion dollars being wired to and from his account, to undisclosed associates.
Ron Wyden, the senator of Oregon, made the claim on Thursday as Republicans faced down a petition that would force a vote to release the findings of an investigation into the late sex offender.
'The Treasury's Epstein file details 4,725 wire transfers … adding up to nearly $1.5 billion, flowing in and out of just one of Mr Epstein's banks,' Wyden said on the floor of the Senate.
Wyden, who spent the past three years digging into Epstein's financial network, questioned whether the transaction had been properly examined by authorities in light of the Justice Department decision to close the case on Epstein last week.
