National Doughnut Day: Where to get free donuts in Connecticut
CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — Some Connecticut shops are helping celebrate National Doughnut Day this Friday with the perfect thing: something sweet. The annual day dates back to 1938, when The Salvation Army started it as a way to honor 'Donut Lassies' who would serve donuts to soldiers on the front lines of World War I. A representative at the Krispy Kreme in Mohegan Sun Casino said this year they're offering some discounted prices. You can get two dozen original glazed donuts for $18.99 or a combo of a dozen glazed and a dozen assorted for $20.99. Dunkin' Donuts is giving out a free donut with any drink purchase. They're also partnering with Stoney Clover Lane for limited-edition merchandise. Located in Foxwoods Resort and Casino, Zac Young's Sprinkletown will be giving away three free mini donuts with each purchase until 7 p.m. Cha Papi is offering customers a mochi donut with purchase of a drink (limit one donut per customer) and half a dozen donuts at the discounted price of $18.
