Early Sunday morning, police investigated a string of five robberies in 15 minutes. MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - University of Minnesota police warned about an overnight robbery and another attempted robbery in the Dinkytown area on Monday night, just a day after a string of robberies in the city. What we know Police shared the alert on its safety notification page late Monday night. The alert warned about a robbery around 10:30 p.m. in front of a home along 7th Street Southeast near 12th Avenue Southeast. Police said that the robbery involved three to four men wearing black hoodies, black masks, and one of the robbers was armed with a gun while another had a knife. The robbers were reportedly in a gray BMW SUV without plates. The second incident Moments later, police said there was another robbery attempt involving the same group, just blocks away, on the other side of Interstate 35W at 8th Street Southeast and 9th Avenue Southeast. Police note both robberies were off campus but are asking anyone with information on the thieves to call 911. A victim was assaulted but declined medical attention. 2:57 a.m., 700 11th Avenue Southeast: Three to four suspects were involved in a gold sedan. About $90 in cash was stolen. No injuries were reported. This was just a block away from the Monday night robbery. Police: Fugitive predatory sex offender may be in Minneapolis

Authorities are asking the public for help finding a Level 3 predatory sex offender who allegedly fled his residence, and the supervision of local police, in Winona. Richard Martin Luers, 60, may be in the Minneapolis area, "particularly near the University of Minnesota," according to an alert from the Minneapolis Police Department. He now has an active arrest warrant. According to Minnesota's sex offender registry, Luers has a lengthy — and violent — criminal record. Luers gained access to two females by approaching them in public and forcing them to another location and entered another female's home without permission. Luers used force, weapons, threats, and restraint of females to gain compliance." Minneapolis police note that Luers has used a firearm in some of his crimes. He's described as 5'10" and 175 pounds, with gray hair and hazel eyes. However, authorities are warning anyone who spots Luer not to approach him and instead "call 911 immediately." Minneapolis police are asking the public for help locating a 12-year-old girl who hasn't been seen since Saturday evening. Identified only as "Peyton," she was last seen at her home at her home in south Minneapolis. According to the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), she left sometime between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. "Police have information that Peyton may be traveling through Wisconsin," a news release says. Peyton is described as Black and 5'5'' tall, weighing 105 pounds with long, curly brown hair. She was wearing light pink pajama pants and tan cotton slippers at the time of her disappearance. Police note that she has four scars on her right forearm.
