Gaza bloodied: 30+ civilians killed as 140k Israelis demand war end
Shafaq News/ At least 30 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip since dawn, Palestinian and Israeli media reported on Saturday. The strikes hit several areas, including Beit Lahiya in the north, the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, and the southern cities of Khan Younis and Rafah. عاجل| 30 شهيدا جراء غارات الاحتلال المتواصلة منذ فجر اليوم على مناطق متفرقة في قطاع غزة. — شبكة قدس الإخبارية (@qudsn) April 19, 2025 Gaza's Health Ministry reported that the death toll since October 2023 has surpassed 51,000. Meanwhile, nearly 140,000 Israelis have signed petitions demanding an end to the war, with demonstrators gathering outside the homes of senior officials—including ministers, Knesset members, and the President—calling for the immediate release of hostages held in Gaza. In occupied East Jerusalem, tensions escalated further after Israeli authorities reportedly ordered the closure of six UNRWA-run schools within 30 days. The decision follows a law passed by the Knesset on January 30, 2025, banning the agency's operations in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Cutting off electricity to Gaza a war crime: Arab Parliament
The Arab Parliament has condemned Israel's decision to cut off electricity to the Gaza Strip, saying the move is considered a war crime. The Speaker of the Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi from the UAE, said the move is considered a war crime and collective punishment. He also called on the international community to pressure Israel to restore basic services to the population in the Gaza Strip, including allowing aid to enter the enclave. Israeli Minister of Energy Eli Cohen on Sunday decided to halt electricity supply to Gaza in an effort to pressure Hamas into releasing hostages. Hamas described the electricity cut as "blackmail," a term it had also used after Israel blocked the aid. The truce's initial phase ended on March 1 and both sides have refrained from returning to all-out war, despite sporadic violence including an air strike on Sunday. Hamas has repeatedly called for an immediate start to negotiations on the ceasefire's second phase, aiming to end the war permanently. Israel says it prefers extending phase one until mid-April, and halted aid to Gaza over the impasse.
