Beyoncé's flying car malfunctions mid-air at Cowboy Carter show

A frightening moment for Beyoncé during Saturday night's Cowboy Carter show at the singer's hometown of Houston, Texas. Towards the end of the show, the singer is suspended in the air in a flying Cadillac as she sings her hit '16 Carriages,' from the 2024 album 'Cowboy Carter.' The red car carries her around the stadium and allows fans in further seats to get an up-close look at the superstar. However, the apparatus carrying her and the car malfunctioned at NRG Stadium, leading to a very scary moment. The car began to slowly tilt and after a little while, it got too uncomfortable for the Queen Bey's liking. 'Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop,' she calmly told her crew as fans gasped. As she was slowly lowered down, Beyoncé kept her cool and continued to smile. 'Thank you for your patience,' she told the crowd without breaking a sweat. She was lowered down to safety without incident and then later appeared back onstage. 'If ever I fall, I know y'all would catch me,' she explained to her fans known as the BeyHive. While the ordeal was frightening, Beyoncé managed to have a sense of humor about it all. Her social media team posted a carousel of photos on her Instagram page Saturday night, which included a snap of the tilted car. Being from Texas, her team paid homage to the region's car and hip-hop culture by making a video montage of the incident while Paul Wall's 'Sittin' Sidewayz' featuring Big Pokey played in the background. The caption appropriately said 'Sittin' Sidewayz.' During Sunday night's show in H-Town, fan social media accounts reported that the singer ditched the flying car and performed a shortened version of the song before going into the final song of the show, which is 'Amen.' Beyoncé's next show will take place on July 4 in Washington, D.C. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Beyonce left dangling in the air mid concert as car prop malfunctions

Don't miss out on the headlines from Music Tours. Followed categories will be added to My News. Beyoncé was left dangling midair in a car while performing during the first Houston Cowboy Carter tour stop. On Saturday, the US singer was catapulted into the air in a red car for the performance of her country hit 16 Carriages. While the vehicle was supposed to make its way around the venue so fans who don't have floor seats could get a closer look at Beyoncé, the car began leaning to one side and came to a complete stop. After finishing the first verse of the song, the mother-of-three yelled, 'Stop, stop, stop, stop' as she sat at a standstill above screaming fans below. Beyonce's car prop malfunctioned during her show. The singer had to be lowered to safety. After crew members rushed over, the red car was lowered to the ground and Beyoncé was safely removed. In true Beyoncé fashion, the pop star walked back over to the stage to finish belting out the song. After videos of the incident went viral, her entertainment company, Parkwood, took to Instagram to explain what happened. 'Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyoncé uses to circle the stadium, and see her fans up close, to tilt,' the statement read. 'She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident.' Beyonce is in Houston for the latest leg of her Cowboy Carter tour. Picture: Instagram Earlier this month, the Grammy winner effortlessly bounced a wardrobe malfunction while kicking off the London leg of her tour. While performing her 2022 hit I'm That Girl, Beyoncé's metallic fringed chaps fell to the floor mid-dance move. However, the singer handled it like a pro and slowly slid down to the floor during a music break to pick them back up. One of her backup dancers then assisted in helping secure the pants so the show could go on. Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour continues for a second night in her hometown on Sunday. WATCH: Beyoncé stuck mid-air in tilting car during show: 'I know y'all will catch me...'

Beyoncé showed true professionalism during a tense moment at the first of her two "Cowboy Carter" tour shows in her hometown, Houston on Saturday night, when a technical glitch interrupted her performance. While singing "16 Carriages," the 43-year-old superstar was seated atop a red convertible suspended above the stage when the vehicle suddenly began to tilt mid-air, as seen in fan-shot videos circulating on social media. Wearing a harness and holding onto a safety cable, Beyoncé remained composed. 'Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop,' she calmly said into her microphone while still suspended. Stage crew quickly halted the performance, and the car was carefully lowered back to the stage. Once safely on the ground, Beyoncé addressed the crowd with grace, saying, 'I want to thank y'all for loving me. If ever I fall, I know y'all will catch me.' A statement later confirmed that she was safely lowered and no injuries occurred. The show resumed smoothly and the Beyhive was happy that their queen was not hurt. "It is scary, she weathered it quite well," says Friedman. Watch the moment below:

Moment Beyoncé Warns Crew About Concert Malfunction Caught on Camera

Beyoncé experienced a technical malfunction at her concert in Houston, Texas, over the weekend, and the moment she warned her crew about the mishap was caught on camera. Newsweek reached out to Beyoncé's representative and her company, Parkwood Entertainment, via email for comment on Monday. Beyoncé is currently on her Cowboy Carter tour. The "Texas Hold 'Em" singer, 43, announced the news in February following the release of her country-inspired album, Cowboy Carter, in March 2024. The malfunction took place on Saturday while Beyoncé was performing "16 Carriages." The 35-time Grammy Award winner rides on a red prop car over the audience during the song, but halfway through the track, the car stopped and tilted, prompting her to pause the show. "Stop. Stop, stop, stop, stop," Beyoncé said as the crowd quieted. "Thank you for your patience." After the car was lowered safely to the ground, the Destiny's Child alum added: "I wanna thank y'all for loving me. If ever I fall, I know y'all will catch me." On X, formerly Twitter, fan @limegreenroger posted a video of Beyoncé appearing to eyeball her crew ahead of the incident. "I think I got when Beyoncé caught the malfunction and tried to signal the camera QUICK," he wrote. At the time of publication, the clip racked up more than 1.5 million views and over 1,100 likes. This isn't the first time Beyoncé endured a malfunction during a live performance. In 2023, she had a wardrobe malfunction on her Renaissance World Tour in Detroit. While singing her tune "Break My Soul," the mom of three-who shares daughter Blue Ivy and twins Rumi and Sir with her rapper husband Jay-Z-had to fix one of her gold boots that slid down her leg. Following Saturday's technical difficulty, Parkwood Entertainment said in a statement shared to their Instagram Story, per Good Morning America: "Tonight in Houston, at NRG stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyoncé uses to circle the stadium, and see her fans up close, to tilt. She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident." Beyoncé referenced the malfunction in several Instagram posts after the concert: "I love you, Houston," she wrote in one note and added, "Sittin' Sidewayz," in another. Beyoncé resumes her Cowboy Carter tour on Friday in Washington, D.C. The tour first kicked off at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium in April, and it ends in Las Vegas on July 26. With the backing music stopped, the crowd could be heard applauding the star and shouting "go, Katy!" as she made her way out and onto the floor. The incident came just one day after Beyoncé sparked panic as a flying car she was riding on during her Cowboy Carter Tour malfunctioned. The red Cadillac began tilting to one side as Beyoncé repeatedly said "stop" into the microphone and the music cut out. Katy was also left hanging in the air during her Lifetimes Tour show at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide. Sharing a video on X, one fan who was in the crowd said, "Wait not katy perry almost falling from the giant ball.. this is scary asf. "Omg it's scarier than it looked." The clip was captioned with, "Katy Perry handled it like a queen." Fans were quick to reply to the footage, with many comparing Katy's lucky escape to Beyoncé's. "Main Pop girlies literally risking life to put on a show!" one said. A third chimed in, "Beyonce almost fell in her car prop and now Katy with this." And someone else wrote, "Thankgod it didn't happen when she was up in air." Beyoncé's brush with danger came just 24 hours earlier while she was performing at the NRG Stadium in her native Texas. Towards the end of the show, and after an appearance from her daughter Blue Ivy, things took a turn for the worse. During her performance of 16 Carriages, the superstar hopped into a red car which was then lifted high into the air using cables. She pulled on a silver cowboy hat and waved an American flag for her in-air adventures, yet was forced to halt the song as the vehicle leaned dangerously to one side. The crowd paused when she stopped singing and signaled for help, before erupting into cheers as the vehicle was lowered to solid ground. Like a pro, Beyonce continued the song then told her adoring fans: "I wanna thank y'all, for loving me. "If ever I fall, I know y'all will catch me." GOING SILENT Meanwhile, Katy had turned off her social media notifications in the lead up to her gig in Australia. It came after The Sun revealed she has told friends her relationship with actor Orlando Bloom is over. Katy has been in Australia with their four-year-old daughter Daisy, while Orlando jetted to Italy for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding. British actor Orlando was seen cozying up to Kim Kardashian at the extravagant event before being spotted with Sydney Sweeney in Venice.
