Netflix drops 'bleak and gripping' period drama starring Line Of Duty legend packed full of sex, spies and subterfuge

Netflix has dropped a 'bleak and gripping' period drama starring a Line Of Duty legend packed full of sex, spies and subterfuge. The Secret Agent first hit screens on the BBC nearly ten years ago in 2016 and delves into 1886 London. The four-part series is based on Joseph Conrad's novel which shares the same title as the drama. It follows Verloc (Toby Jones), a sex shopkeeper and Russian spy, who has to deal with 'pressure to commit an act of politically-motivated terrorism,' according to the synopsis. Other cast members include Line Of Duty star Vicky McClure who plays Verloc's wife, Winnie, as well as Stephen Graham as Chief Inspector Heat. The Secret Agent was recently added to Netflix for fans to stream and has received a range of reviews since it first aired. While The Telegraph only rated it two out of five stars and described it as 'one of the bleakest, murkiest and most disturbing dramas' of the year, the Radio Times dubbed the series a 'gripping period tale'. However, The Mail's Christopher Stevens scored it a disappointing two out of five stars too and felt the show lacked 'the oomph' of a 'classic thriller' but overall said it was a 'stolid literary adaptation'. The Secret Agent has a modest 6.1/10 score on IMDb and one fan gushed: 'Dark, bleak, brooding but really good!' While another called the series 'excellent' and rated it eight out of ten. 'I cannot understand the negative reviews about this film, it was excellent, the only actor l had heard of was Toby Jones who played Capt. Mainwaring in the remake of Dad's Army, and l think that's what made it so much better then a film with big start names it felt more authentic, it was sad, dramatic, drama, but bedside anything else it was excellent l give it 9/10,' one viewer chimed in. However, someone else was disappointed and said: 'It's a strange and unconvincing story, but it has its points of interest, as it deals with the murky late Victorian world of mysterious anarchists. 'Unfortunately, this BBC version is not very well done. The main problem is that it is too slow and does not flow.' It comes as a 'fascinating and suspenseful' Netflix thriller left fans gripped with a 'psychopathic' leading man and a 'dark' twist. The Occupant first hit screens back in 2020 and is available to watch on the streaming platform. It follows unemployed advertising executive Javier Muñoz (Javier Gutiérrez) who becomes obsessed with the new tenants of the home he had to give up. However, things take a horrifying twist when 'his motives toward the family turn sinister,' according to the synopsis. Despite only having a modest 65% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, The Occupant has still managed to collect plenty of praise from fans. The Secret Agent is available to stream on Netflix now.

Saudi 100 Brands joins forces with Tranoï Showcase

Once again this season, the Saudi brands from Saudi 100 Brands are arriving in Paris. On the occasion of Men's Fashion Week, the spring/summer 2026 collections of eleven Saudi designers will be presented by Tranoï Showcase, the personalized showroom module inaugurated by Tranoï last January. The presentation will take place on the fifth floor of La Samaritaine, from June 24 to 27, accessible via registration. Tranoï, in collaboration with the Saudi Fashion Commission, is providing the selected labels with a 480 m² space at 11 rue de la Monnaie, in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. Among the eleven brands, 1886, Awaken, Hajruss, Eleven, Mirai and RBA offer mixed and even unisex fashion. International and local influences 1886's products are inspired by streetwear and even sportswear, as an echo of American fashion, and include a line of skiwear, a watch designed with Russian brand Raketa Watches, and both casual and chic looks. The Awaken brand, whose slogan is "Open your eyes", offers screen-printed shirts and sweaters, ensembles of leather, tapered jeans and quilted black fabric. These garments are used by the brand to convey progressive messages, in line with its motto. Hajruss is more inclined towards a formal men's wardrobe, revisiting suits and jackets, both in terms of cut and the materials used, such as fur and wool. Focusing on a more streetwear and contemporary style, Eleven offers hats, caps, quilted down jackets and printed t-shirts. Mirai (meaning "future" in Japanese) is inspired by Japanese fashion and blends it with the Saudi roots of its two designers. Last but not least, RBA New York (also present at Galeries Lafayette in Dubai) is largely inspired by regional fashion, with light, long pieces in crinkled cotton. A diversified offering for women At the same time, the Tranoï Showcase will be presenting womenswear labels Razan Alazzouni, Rebirth, Reem Alkanhal, Waad Aloqaili and Yasmina Q. Fans of embroidery can turn to Razan Alazzouni, who makes hand-embroidered dresses, skirts and tops. The brand also offers kaftans in a variety of shapes and collars, for women and children alike. The Rebirth label focuses primarily on beachwear, not swimwear but lightweight beachwear with loose threads and strips of fabric. With this offering, the brand was able to parade at the Red Sea Fashion Week (Saudi Arabia) in May 2024. Reem Alkanhal's wardrobe is timeless, often drawing on the traditional length of regional garments. Her bold coats, pants, shorts, skirts and dresses are made from brocade or silk taffeta, cotton or polyester. For its part, Waad Aloqaili is a Saudi fashion house specializing in embroidered dresses in original, distinguished shapes, with biannual collections. The latest label to present its new collection at the Tranoï Showcase is Yasmina Q, whose modest women's wardrobe includes dresses, cardigans, pants and tops in shades of scarlet, off-white and blue.

Here's How Many Shares of Coca-Cola You Must Own to Get $5,000 in Yearly Dividends

Coca-Cola has raised its dividend annually for more than six decades. The shares boast a higher yield than the broad market. 10 stocks we like better than Coca-Cola › Formed in 1886, Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) has become a household name by marketing and selling its large portfolio of beverages (including its namesake soft drink) around the world. Beyond its popularity with consumers, however, Coca-Cola has also long been a favorite in the stock market too, thanks to its steady growth and long history of paying dividends. For investors targeting $5,000 in dividend income each year, here's how many shares of Coca-Cola stock you would have to own. Coca-Cola certainly has an unwavering commitment to its dividend. Not only has the company kept up its regular payments, but it has raised them annually for more than six decades. That makes Coca-Cola a Dividend King. The board of directors ran the payout growth streak to 63 straight years after it increased the dividend earlier this year to a quarterly rate of $0.51 per share. The new rate started with April's payout. It doesn't look like Coca-Cola has a problem affording the higher dividend, either. The company has a payout ratio of 77%, meaning its dividend payouts over the past 12 months have added up to about three-quarter's of the company's net income from that period. With the company's commitment and ability to pay dividends settled, it's time to turn your attention to the share count needed to collect $5,000 yearly. Coca-Cola's current $0.51 dividend works out to $2.04 per year, so 2,451 shares would be necessary to receive $5,000 total. Based on the June 13 closing price of $71.02, you'd need to invest $174,070 to own that many shares. Given the company's track record, remember your annual dividend income should increase every year, and shareholders also receive a higher dividend yield compared to the broad market. Coca-Cola stock yields 2.9% versus the S&P 500 index's 1.3%.
