BREAKING NEWS Man is shot by police outside rural pub after counter-terror and bomb squad officers rushed to scene
Armed police have shot a man outside a rural village pub, after counter-terror cops and bomb squad officers swarmed it. Police surrounded the Park Gate Inn in Hollingbourne, Kent last night. A 100-metre cordon has been put in place around the boozer following the incident, which began shortly after 9pm. Dramatic aerial footage has captured armoured police vehicles parked up securing the area outside the pub. Forensic officers carrying black bags were also reportedly seen. It's unclear what sparked the shooting, as Kent Police has yet to release an official statement. However, watchdog the Independent Office for Police Conduct said a man had been shot by police and 'is receiving treatment in hospital'. An IOPC spokesman said: 'We have begun an independent investigation after a man was shot and seriously injured by Kent Police, who were responding to an incident on Monday July 7. 'We were notified by the force after the incident in Hollingbourne, which occurred shortly before 9pm, and declared an independent investigation a short time later. 'The man is receiving treatment in hospital for his injuries which are thought to be life changing. 'We have sent investigators to the scene and the police post incident procedure to begin gathering evidence.' Locals are being urged to stay away from the scene. The A20 Ashford Road has been closed in both directions. Hollingbourne is a small village with a population of around 900 people, according to the last census. It is located five miles east of Maidstone.

Chelsea hit by huge fines for breach of financial rules
Chelsea have been fined A$56 million by UEFA for breaches of their financial rules, while Aston Villa, Barcelona and Olympique Lyonnais were also levied with large fines. The punishments come with the potential for far harsher fines down the road, with Chelsea, who agreed to a four-year settlement with UEFA's Club Financial Control Body (CFCB), risking being hit with a further A$108 million if they do not get their finances in order. Barcelona must pay a $A27 million fine, but could potentially face $A108 million in total, with UEFA, European soccer's governing body, fining Lyon $A22.5 million and Aston Villa $A20 million. Chelsea's fines were split into $A36 million for not complying with the football earnings rule and $A20 million for breaching the squad cost rule, while Aston Villa were fined $A9 million and $A11 million for their respective rule violations. The clubs are also subject to a restriction on the registration of new players on their List A for UEFA club competitions such as the Champions League and Europa League. The teams accepted settlement agreements which cover periods of two, three or four years, with the clubs' final targets to be fully compliant with the football earnings rule by the end of their specific settlement period. Lyon agreed on an exclusion from the 2025/26 UEFA club competitions should the French authority confirm the club's relegation to Ligue 2. Chelsea sold their women's team for $A423 million to a parent company Blueco, which helped to balance their spending and avoid huge losses, despite their lavish spending in the transfer market under owner Todd Boehly. UEFA, however, refused to count the sale of the team as an asset. The club also sold two hotels to a sister company in a deal that appears to have helped the club to remain compliant with profitability and sustainability rules. Premier League clubs are not permitted to have losses of more than $A219 million over a three-year period.

Anker Launches Sleep Earbuds With Active Noise Cancellation and 'Snore Masking'
Anker has brought a new version of its wireless sleep earbuds, called the Soundcore Sleep A30, to the market. The company says the Sleep A30 could be even more effective at helping users achieve a peaceful night's sleep by blocking disruptive noises through active noise cancellation (ANC). Previous models, like the Sleep A20, relied on a snug fit inside the ear to passively block sound, but the A30 adds active noise cancellation for the first time, all while keeping enough battery life to last through the night, as reported by The Verge. The Sleep A30 has a slimmer and smaller design compared with earlier models. Anker says this helps make the earbuds more comfortable to wear overnight, especially for side sleepers, as there is less pressure when resting on a pillow. Anker includes four sizes of silicone eartips, three sizes of memory foam tips, and three sizes of ear wings. Anker says the new Sleep A30 can block up to 30dB of external noise, and the addition of ANC, which uses two microphones inside and outside the ear. But it comes at the cost of lower battery life. The A20 could run for up to 14 hours on a single charge, but the A30 tops out at nine hours on its own or up to 45 hours with the charging case when playing stored sleep sounds. When streaming music or podcasts from a phone, battery life drops to 6.5 hours per charge or 35 hours with the case. The charging case uses unique technology that Anker calls "Adaptive Snore Masking technology." If the case detects snoring from someone nearby, it analyzes the sound and generates audio to mask it, sending this to the earbuds to help block out the noise. The Sleep A30 also features sleep monitoring and position tracking, which lets users see how restful their night was through the Soundcore mobile app. Other functions include a private repeatable alarm with snooze and a "Find My Earbud" feature to help locate earbuds lost in bed. The A30 uses Bluetooth 5.3 for connectivity.
