‘Emily in Paris' Season 5 to Film in Rome in May With Main Cast Back, Including Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount and Eugenio Franceschini

Lily Collins' Emily Cooper will be living the dolce vita in Rome with her Italian beau Marcello in the much-anticipated fifth season of Netflix's 'Emily in Paris.' Or at least some of it. The new season of hit romantic comedy created by Darren Star will kick off production this May in Rome before moving to Paris later in the summer. Slated to premiere later this year on Netflix, Season 5 is expected to give Emily (Lily Collins) an embarrassment of riches when it comes to her love life, bringing back her two one-and-off boyfriends, the sexy French chef, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and dashing Brit, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), alongside her new Italian love interest, Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). Some actors, however, won't be returning to the show, such as Camille Razat, who played Camille, the 'villain,' in the first four seasons of the show. The last season was marked by the arrival of a new sexy and deceitful antagonist, Geneviève, played by Thalia Besson (who happens to be the daughter of French director Luc Besson) but she hasn't yet signed on to be back. The plot of Season 5 remains under wraps, and Variety can reveal that Season 5 picks up days after Season 4 ends, as Emily settles into her beautiful apartment in Rome to run Agence Grateau's Italian office. Alfie has moved on with a new girlfriend after Emily chose Gabriel over him. But ultimately, Emily grows tired of Gabriel's ambiguous relationship with Camille and indecision, and starts flirting with Marcello Muratori, the charming and confident heir of a family-owned cashmere company in the picturesque fictional village of Solitano, near Rome. Season 4 wraps with a cliffhanger as Gabriel, who's had an epiphany, surprises Emily by showing up on the doorsteps of her new flat in Rome upon learning that she has relocated there. Late last year, Bravo sparked some headlines after expressing his frustration over his 'Emily in Paris' character Gabriel. While promoting Melanie Laurent's 'Freedom' in which he plays a notorious French gangster, Bravo told IndieWire that his character in 'Emily in Paris' had been 'slowly turned into guacamole.' 'The 'sexy chef' was very much part of me in Season 1 and we grew apart season after season because of the choices he makes and because of the direction they make him take. I've never been so far away from him,' Bravo said. Yet, Bravo will be back and so will Gabriel's Michelin-rated restaurant, which will be one of the backdrops of the upcoming season which is currently being written, according to our intel. The actor's career has taken off in the three years thanks to 'Emily in Paris.' He landed roles in 'Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris,' 'Tickets to Paradise,' 'The Honeymoon' and 'Freedom,' as well as Noemie Merlant's sexy genre movie 'The Balconettes.' 'Emily in Paris' Season 5 is executive produced by Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, Andrew Fleming, Stephen Brown, Alison Brown, Robin Schiff, Grant Sloss and Joe Murphy. It's produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Darren Star Productions, and Jax Media. The impact of 'Emily in Paris' on popular culture and soft power has been such that French President Emmanuel Macron told Variety in a cover interview last October that France 'will fight hard' for the series to remain in the country. That declaration then provoked a lighthearted feud between the French President and Rome mayor Roberto Gualtieri. Emily In Paris Season 5: This Long-Time Character Leaves Show Ahead Of Filming

Last Updated: Emily in Paris Season 5 will begin production in May starting in Rome, before moving back to Paris. Emily in Paris is saying au revoir to one of its original cast members. Camille Razat, who has played Camille since the very first season, will not be returning for Season 5 of the Netflix series. Razat's character has been a central part of the storyline due to her complicated friendship with Emily (Lily Collins) and her romantic ups and downs with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo). But her exit doesn't come as a shock. In Season 4, Camille packed her bags and left after faking a pregnancy in a last attempt to win Gabriel back. Netflix confirmed the change in a Tudum cast announcement on Thursday. The upcoming season will begin production in May starting in Rome before moving back to Paris. The confirmed returning cast includes Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie, Ashley Park as Mindy, Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc, William Abadie as Antoine and Thalia Besson as Genevieve. Lucien Laviscount will also return as Alfie, Emily's ex-boyfriend. It is unclear whether Alfie will return for work, romance or both. The last time we saw him, he had moved on from Emily and was dating someone new. But given the show's track record of on-again, off-again relationships, it is possible his story with Emily could still take unexpected turns. Bravo's return came after some uncertainty. In October, the actor publicly admitted that he wasn't sure about continuing. He shared that he felt 'frustrated" and that playing Gabriel was 'not fun anymore" as the character was 'being slowly turned into guacamole." Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini, is also returning for Season 5. He was introduced in the second half of Season 4 as Emily's new romantic interest. Speaking to Tudum, Lily Collins hinted that Marcello arrives at the right moment in Emily's life. She said the character brings a chance for Emily to focus on work-life balance. 'Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance. We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time," she said. Show creator Darren Star confirmed to Tudum that Emily's relationship with Marcello will be explored further in Season 5. 'I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that's going to continue to play out next season," he said. Season 4 ended with major changes for the main characters. Emily was tasked with opening a Roman branch of Agence Grateau. Emily in Paris Season 5 is expected to premiere this year. First Published:

First-look 'Emily in Paris' photo teases Emily's new Italian life in season 5

The last we saw of Emily Cooper, she was racing off to Rome on the back of a Vespa with a new job and a new love interest, cashmere heir Marcello Muratori (Eugenio Franceschini). The end of "Emily in Paris" season 4 saw a new beginning for our eponymous marketing maven as she becomes head of Agence Grateau's new Italian office. But her on-again-off-again amore Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) was trying to drum up the past by setting off for the Eternal City in the season's final moments to find Emily and win her back. However, judging by these first-look teasers released by Netflix ahead of "Emily in Paris" season 5, Emily is looking plenty happy with her current la dolce vita life. Leading lady Lily Collins is looking as chic as ever, snapping a selfie while outfitted in a boldly patterned black-and-white jumpsuit and — spoiler alert — a brand-new hairdo. Instead of the character's usual long brunette locks, Emily will now be sporting a short, blunt bob in the new episodes. (Honestly, with Italy's heat and humidity, it's a smart style move!) You can see that very selfie on the official "Emily in Paris" Instagram page, with the caption: 'Lights, Camera, Amore — Emily in Paris Season 5 is now in production!' Netflix also shared a behind-the-scenes video of the actress kicking off production on the new Rome-set season on Thursday, May 8, alongside co-star Eugenio Franceschini, filming outside of the Fendi store. A post shared by Netflix US (@netflix) A photo posted by on 'The cast and crew of 'Emily in Paris' are thrilled to begin filming Season 5 in the Eternal City,' creator Darren Star told Tudum about the next chapter of the series, which is set to premiere later in 2025. 'From Parisian rooftops to Roman ruins, we can't wait to share where Emily's next chapter takes us.' Yes, that confirms that, even though the American expat has relocated from the titular French city, she will eventually return to the City of Lights, with production scheduled to move back to Paris later this summer. 'Emily's going to have a presence in Rome,' Star said. 'It doesn't mean she's not going to be in Paris, but she's going to have a presence in Rome.'
