Primark's 'gorgeous' £22 shoes 'almost identical' to designer label's £99 pair

The high street retailer is stocking a 'dazzling' pair of shoes that resemble a pricier alternative Primark is stocking a pair of 'dazzling' £22 shoes that resemble a designer style. The fashion retailer, known for its affordable clothing, shoes, and accessories, could have a new crowd-pleaser on its hands. ‌ The high street chain has introduced new Spiral Diamante Heeled Sandals, available in cream or black, which look similar to a designer pair from Kurt Geiger. However, the KG Kurt Geiger Athena Sandals, available in black, gold or silver from Next for £99, retail for a much higher price. ‌ Both pairs share similarities, as they each feature a spiral design that wraps around the ankle, sparkly embellishments, and a stiletto heel. However, the shoes are not completely identical, and shoppers may have their preferences between the shoes, which vary in colour and construction. ‌ The product description for the black Primark shoes says: "Step into sparkle with these black spiral diamante heeled sandals. The slim stiletto heel and square toe create a sleek base, while two slim front straps shimmer with hotfix rhinestones. "The standout spiral ankle strap wraps elegantly around your leg, covered in sparkling crystals for a bold, eye-catching look. With no buckle closure, the coiling strap offers a unique fit and style. Perfect for adding drama to your evening outfit, these sandals bring a dazzling finish that's sure to turn heads." Meanwhile, the product description for the black Kurt Geiger shoes states: "This Athena heel is crafted in gold with a gold crystal embellished spiral ankle strap. The heel is in a high stiletto style. Heel height: 9cm." Primark's offering has proven popular on social media. TikTok user @prmrkmeadowhall recently showcased the two Primark pairs in a video that earned over 60,000 views and more than 3,000 likes. The caption said: "GORGEOUS heels in at Primark! Designer inspired heels for just £22!" Viewers loved what they saw. One commenter praised: "Too cute." Someone wrote: "Now would u look at that. Primark can you bring chandelier heels in gold." Meanwhile, another fan tagged a fellow social media user, writing: "I need the white ones so if you see them get them for me please n thankyouuuuu." Their friend replied: "Very cutesy." ‌ As such, Primark's offering could be a tempting alternative for fans of the Kurt Geiger style looking for a similar look for less. Alternatively, shoppers searching for a different diamante style might like Primark's £20 Diamante Strappy Heeled Sandal, a more subtle style that resembles the 'dazzling' pair but does not have a spiral ankle strap. Available in nude, the shoes are not an exact colour match for the other pair, but they could be just the ticket for fans looking for another elegant diamante style. The product description states: "Turn heads in these diamante strappy heeled sandals. "With a sleek slim stiletto heel and a modern square toe, they add instant elegance to any outfit. Two delicate front straps sparkle with hotfix rhinestones, matched by an ankle strap covered in the same shimmering detail. Perfect for dressing up evenings or special occasions, these sandals bring a touch of glamour and fun to your shoe collection."

Dr Martens' £100 shoes that 'make walking comfortable' and will 'last years' 10% off in deal

Dr Martens' shoppers have been hailing a pair of shoes that 'make walking comfortable' and add 'more height'. The Blaire Felix Rub Off Vegan Strap Sandals, which are also available in a leather option but limited in availability, are a £100 on Dr Martens' website. But new customers for the retailer can get them 10% off as your first order when you sign up for email and texts, which you can find out more about here. And if you have received your A-Level results today (Thursday, August 14), and are heading to university come September, then you can also get 10% off Dr Martens' items thanks to UNiDays and Student Beans' discount, which you can find out here. With whatever discount applies to you, you could get the Blaire Athena Leather Strap Sandals for £90. The shoes come in three different versions - Black - Felix Rub Off, Black - Athena, Smoked Mint - Athena, all of which are sold at the initial price of £100. From superstar gigs to cosy pubs, find out What's On in Wales by signing up to our newsletter here. The vegan version is available in sizes 3 to 9, but Dr Martens' recommends that buyers go a size down with these sandals. Its description reads: "Blaire is our latest spin on the gladiator: an airy Dr. Martens sandal with a slight wedge for height, a padded collar for comfort, a lightweight ripple sole and — unlike most sandals — a sturdy, durable Goodyear welt." The Blaire Felix Rub Off Vegan Strap Sandals are 100% vegan, and come with an adjustable buckle strap at ankle. There is a slight wedge for an "empowering" boost and an arched footbed. According to Dr Martens, these are built on the new, lightweight PVC Ziggy sole, made with a ripple tread and are durable goodyear welt. The sandals are made with Felix Rub Off, which is a soft, supple synthetic material. These sandals could be worn with pretty much anything you have in your wardrobe - a dress, a skirt, your favourite pair of jeans with a nice tee. And they can suit any occasion, albeit formal or informal. Elsewhere, if you are looking for a sandal with less of a heel and a cheaper price tag, you could get the M&S Collection Leather Buckle Ankle Strap Flat Sandal for £39.50 at Marks and Spencer. Or, for faux leather sandals that have a similar style to the Dr Martens, you could buy the Wide Fit Chunky Buckled Sandals for £38 at Next, which comes in four different colours. The Blaire Felix Rub Off Vegan Strap Sandals have received a rating of four out of five stars and over 500 reviews. "Love them! So comfy and nice to be able to dress up or down. Have wanted them for ages," one customer said. While another happy shopper remarked: "Comfortable, feel light, sole makes walking comfortable and add a little bit more height, slight rubbing as I wore them constantly the first few days but I love them!" And another customer reviewed: "Excellent timeless sandal. They will certainly last years. Comfortable from first wear. Dr martens never fail to deliver." But another shopper had flagged up some issues. They said: "I love them; but they are taking a while to break in! I have found they rub where the straps overlap, so still only breaking in, in the house! As others spoke about, I bought a size smaller than I take, and they are perfect fit." And another had a sizing problem. They penned: "Absolutely loved the look and height great support for my arches. Unfortunately had to send them back due to being a bit to wide for my slim feet... I've ordered another pair." But most customers were happy with their purchase. "These are so great! Go with everything and didn't take long to just be super comfortable. Really flattering also," one said. While another had this to say: "I got these for my graduation as I wanted to be in something comfy, I have the dr martens boots but they are looking worse for wear so thought I'd treat myself to some of these after seeing a lot of my family and friends wearing them. "They are super comfy, I found that they look really good on most outfit even with socks and full black tights. I am really happy with my purchase and would recommend them to people, the price tag is a little high for a sandal, however, if they stand as long as my boots have then they will really pay for themselves".

Arintra secures $21m Series A funding led by Peak XV for AI medical coding

Arintra, a GenAI-powered medical coding platform for healthcare providers, has raised $21 million in Series A funding led by Peak XV Partners, with Endeavor Health Ventures, Y Combinator, and others participating. The funds will support nationwide adoption, accelerate product development, expand the team, and establish a Bay Area headquarters to meet growing demand. 'Reimbursement in healthcare is fundamentally broken. Payers are moving fast, using policy and technology to shift more burden onto providers, but autonomous coding hasn't kept up,' said Nitesh Shroff, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Arintra. 'We built Arintra to help healthcare providers secure compliant revenue at scale while easing the burden on frontline teams.' Tight margins and rising complexity The company said healthcare organisations face tighter margins, coder shortages, and complex payer demands. New policies have further strained reimbursements, driving demand for proactive automation to help providers navigate an increasingly challenging environment. Arintra said it delivers revenue assurance through a proactive, outcomes-driven approach, ensuring health systems receive accurate, efficient reimbursement. 'At Arintra, we bring together autonomous medical coding, clinical documentation improvement, and denial prevention in a single platform,' said Preeti Bhargava, Co-founder and Chief Technical Officer, Arintra. 'By helping providers document what was done, code what was documented, and properly support what was charged, we enable them to secure full, compliant reimbursement at a lower cost, with fewer delays and significantly less manual effort.' Client results and ROI Arintra also helped Reid Health improve accounts receivable speed and coding accuracy. 'We chose Arintra because it integrates deeply with Epic and changed how we code without disrupting our workflows. We went from billing delays and high denials to faster A/R and fully automated charge capture. It is one of the few AI tools that delivers hard ROI, fast,' said Muhammad Siddiqui, Chief Information Officer at Reid Health. Mohit Bhatnagar, Managing Director, Peak XV Partners, said: 'The disruption of the $150 billion healthcare reimbursements industry will be one of AI's defining impacts. Arintra's autonomous system tackles one of the hardest challenges for providers: translating clinical documentation into accurate insurance codes so they get paid fairly and fast. After backing Nitesh and Preeti at seed through our Surge programme, Peak XV Partners is excited to double down and lead Arintra's Series A round.' Arintra's GenAI platform combines large language models and clinical knowledge graphs to apply specialty-specific coding with precision. The fully explainable, auditable codes integrate with electronic health records such as Epic and Athena, operating seamlessly within existing clinical workflows.
