Bentley unveils fourth-generation Continental GT Speed in Malaysia
BENTLEY Kuala Lumpur has officially unveiled the fourth-generation Continental GT Speed, ushering in a bold new chapter in the marque's storied 21-year journey of producing luxurious, high-performance grand tourers. This latest iteration stands as the most technologically advanced and visually transformative Continental GT to date, blending thrilling supercar performance with refined craftsmanship and everyday usability. Drawing inspiration from Bentley's coachbuilt masterpieces such as the Bacalar and Batur, the new Continental GT Speed introduces the most dramatic design overhaul in two decades. The sleek, muscular silhouette now features single front headlamps—a stylistic nod to Bentley models of the 1950s. The front fascia has been reimagined with integrated, body-coloured aerodynamic elements, giving it a cleaner and more assertive stance. At the rear, the grand tourer now boasts wider taillight graphics, a reprofiled bumper, and a fixed aerodynamic boot lid, which eliminates the need for a deployable spoiler. Enhancing its road presence are newly designed 22-inch alloy wheels, inspired by the powerful stance of a tiger. These are available in various finishes, including gloss black, silver, and a dark tint with polished details, further underlining the car's dynamic yet elegant character. Beneath its striking exterior lies the heart of a technological revolution. The fourth-generation GT Speed debuts Bentley's new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain, pairing a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine (producing 600 PS and 800 Nm of torque) with a 190 PS electric motor. Together, they deliver a formidable 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque–translating to an 11% increase in torque and a 19% boost in power compared to the previous W12-powered GT Speed. This electrified powertrain propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 335 km/h. The 25.9 kWh battery, positioned behind the rear axle for optimal weight distribution (49:51 rear bias), enables an electric-only range of 81 km. Combined, the car achieves an impressive total range of 859 km, making it not only blisteringly fast but also remarkably efficient. Power delivery is handled by an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while traction and handling are bolstered by an electronic limited-slip differential, active torque vectoring, and regenerative braking, ensuring confident performance in all conditions. The new Continental GT Speed also marks the debut of Bentley's Performance Active Chassis system. This includes dual-chamber air springs and twin-valve dampers that balance ride comfort with dynamic control. The 48-volt Bentley Dynamic Ride system actively counteracts body roll during spirited driving, offering exceptional flat cornering capabilities. An advanced Electronic Stability Control system, now featuring a Dynamic mode, enables controlled oversteer for those seeking a more engaging driving experience. Meanwhile, active all-wheel drive and the eLSD further refine agility and stability. Bentley's revised damper control ECU now manages compression and rebound independently, delivering enhanced ride quality and body control across all drive modes—be it Comfort, Bentley, or Sport. Inside, Bentley continues to redefine automotive luxury. The cabin is adorned with intricate three-dimensional leather surfaces, newly designed quilted upholstery, and dark chrome accents. State-of-the-art wellness seating and air ionisation technology provide a serene, health-conscious environment for occupants. The driver and passengers benefit from an advanced infotainment system backed by a 400V electrical architecture, offering seamless connectivity and enhanced digital functionality, all while maintaining the tactile elegance Bentley is renowned for. Unlike many modern hybrids, the GT Speed's V8 soundtrack remains authentic and mechanical, eschewing artificial enhancements. The acoustic signature evolves naturally with engine speed, offering an emotional and immersive driving experience that reflects the spirit of true grand touring. Lighting technology has also received a major update. The new single-lens matrix LED headlamps house 120 individually controlled LEDs, offering adaptive high beam functionality and a crystal-inspired visual effect. At the rear, the 3D diamond-patterned taillights emit a distinctive molten lava glow, adding a layer of visual drama and modern sophistication to the vehicle's rear profile. With the arrival of the fourth-generation Continental GT Speed, Bentley has once again reasserted its position at the pinnacle of the grand tourer segment. Bentley's Latest One-Off Batur Features Dazzling 18-Karat Rose Gold Trim
The details are what set Bentley's latest one-off build apart from the pack. The British marque has just unveiled a new example of the Batur called 'The Black Rose.' The coachbuilt grand tourer is the first to feature 3-D-printed solid rose gold trim. Introduced in 2023, the exquisite coupe, like the open-top Bacalar before it, is an ultra-exclusive version of the Continental GT. At the time of its unveiling, the automaker announced that its bespoke division, Mulliner, would build just 18 examples of the two-door, each of which would be designed with the input of its owner. The Black Rose features a striking color scheme you won't find on any other Batur. The lower half of the vehicle is done up in metallic black, while the upper body is finished in glossy Beluga. It's the trim that's especially noteworthy, though. Satin Rose Gold accents adorn the grille, hood, intakes, side skirts, and mirror caps. You'll even find traces of the color on the 22-inch gloss black wheels. The glitzy hue can also be found inside the vehicle. Bentley says that 210 grams of 18-karat rose gold is present throughout the Black Rose's decadent cabin, including on the dashboard, steering wheel, and drive mode selector. The trim was applied via a 3-D printing technique that the automaker claims has never previously been used on an automobile. Other premium materials found in the interior include Beluga leather, charcoal gray tweed fabric, and metallic black-painted veneers. Bentley's vehicle announcement doesn't include any mechanical details, but previous examples of the Batur have been powered by the marque's soon-to-be-extinct twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W-12. The brawny mill is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and makes 730 hp and 737 ft lbs of torque. Thanks to all that oomph, the unnamed owner can accelerate from zero to 60 in 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 209 mph. Unfortunately, the Black Rose is a one-off, so if you want a Bentley looks like it you'll probably have to commission it from the automaker yourself. This One-Of-18 Bentley Batur Has 3D-Printed Rose Gold Trim Made From Recycled Jewelry
When you get to the level of cars like the coachbuilt Bentley Batur, of which only 18 will be made at a starting price of around $2 million each, the world is your oyster when it comes to choosing your car's spec. Anything you can dream up, Bentley can do, as long as it's physically possible and your pockets are deep enough. The brand's Mulliner customization division has exploded in popularity in recent years, especially with cars like the Batur and Bacalar, and Bentley offers all sorts of interesting trim options like modern textiles, aerospace-grade titanium and real stone veneers. One Batur customer decided to really go for it with their spec, commissioning what has been named "The Black Rose" Batur. Not only is this Batur finished in a color that was created just for this customer, it features the automotive world's first application of 3D-printed rose gold components on the interior. The result is a really spectacular, intriguing spec that's vastly more interesting than if this Batur had more traditional chrome accents or black and carbon-fiber trim. The upper body and roof of the car is painted in gloss Beluga black. All of the exterior brightwork is finished in satin Rose Gold paint, from the grille details and bumper intakes to the side skirts, rear diffuser, mirror caps, wheels and the "endless bonnet line" trim that runs along the window line down to the tip of the nose. Though none of these trim bits are made from actual rose gold, they do all look fabulous. I especially like the painted intakes, which have grille mesh that's also painted to match. That's not always something that works (go look at photos of a C8 Corvette with painted intakes), but here I think it does. Maybe that's just because the Batur is already a great-looking car, or because rose gold is a great color? Either way, I'm into it. The actual gold is found on the inside. Back in 2022 Bentley invested nearly $4 million to double its capacity for Additive Manufacturing 3D printing, which was first introduced on the Batur with components made from traditional 18-karat gold. For the Black Rose Batur, the customer of course wanted to use rose gold instead, for parts like the drive mode dial, climate control organ stops, and steering wheel trim. 210 grams of 18-karat rose gold was used, and 100 percent of the raw materials were sourced from recycled jewelry. Bentley collaborated with goldsmiths Cooksongold for the manufacturing processes, materials and finishing techniques, and all the parts were hallmarked in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter "as a sign of having solid material authenticity." Components that were manufactured in 2022 also get a special Jubilee hallmark to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's platinum jubilee year. Beyond the real rose gold pieces, the Black Rose's cabin is more subdued but very classy. There's a mix of Beluga leather and charcoal grey tweed fabric that's accented by rose gold stitching, and there are additional trim pieces that are painted satin Rose Gold to match the exterior bits. Instead of wood, aluminum or another standard veneer offering spanning the dashboard, the customer instead chose to have the panel painted in the Black Rose hue to match the exterior, which adds a ton of sparkle and depth to the interior. Bentley says this Batur is one of only three that will be right-hand drive, but there's no word on who ordered it or what country it will call home. In addition to the 18 Batur coupes, Bentley will also be building 16 Batur convertibles; these 34 coachbuilt cars will be the final Bentleys to use the now-discontinued W12 engine, which in the Batur makes 740 horsepower, its highest output ever.
