On June 28, Reka:Bar played host to William Wu of Taipei's acclaimed The Public House, alongside KL's own Joel Poon. Together, they served a bold and poetic cocktail menu—from delicate floral blends to complex fermented infusions. Think osmanthus, rum, kombucha, lapsang tea and more—each drink a conversation between KL and Taipei, served in a glass. And it was not just the cocktails that had guests raving. Reka's bar snacks rose to the occasion too. The Braised Beef Gua Bao, stuffed with meltingly tender brisket, offered pure comfort between soft lotus buns. The Grilled Chicken Skewers, served with garlic confit aioli and basil oil, delivered punchy, balanced flavour—an unexpected star of the evening. And the Scallion Pancake, a nod to Taipei's street food scene, was crisp and flaky with just the right touch of sweetness from truffle honey—mirroring the ingredients found in William's cocktails and bringing the pairing full circle. Plum & Rose (Reka:Bar): A layered, romantic blend of scotch whisky, plum wine, rose kombucha, and galangal. Sweet, smoky, and gently spiced, this drink lingers long after your last sip—both on the palate and in memory. Teh Ratu (The Silver Monkey)– Persian saffron meets Chinese kombucha with a tart apple kiss, unfolding into florals and bittersweet complexity. Elegant, layered, and quietly powerful—a drink that left a lasting impression. Blockbuster new update from Apple may finally force you to buy a new iPhone
Apple has just released its first previews of iOS 26 ahead of its official launch but not everyone can get it. Apple's all-new iOS 26 operating was first shown to the world last month with it featuring a new Liquid Glass look, changes to the home screen and even the ability to block annoying scam calls automatically. It's another blockbuster release from the US tech giant and it should officially arrive on devices in the autumn. If that sounds like far too long to wait, there is a way to test it out today. Apple has just announced the launch of its iOS 26 Public Beta. This early version lets consumers try out what's new while giving Apple feedback about any worrying bugs or glitches that might be lurking inside the software. It's a nice way to get a free upgrade before the masses but not everyone is in luck and it may leave some needing a new iPhone. Every few years, Apple has to drop support for older devices as they simply can't keep pace with the power that's needed to run the very latest software. Sadly, this time around it's the turn of the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR with these call maker compatible with the iOS 26 beta or the official version coming later in the year. HERE ARE ALL THE iPHONES THAT CAN USE iOS 26 iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max • iPhone 16 Plus • iPhone 16 • iPhone 16e iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max • iPhone 15 Plus • iPhone 15 • iPhone 14 • iPhone 14 Plus • iPhone 14 Pro • iPhone 14 Pro Max • iPhone 13 • iPhone 13 mini • iPhone 13 Pro • iPhone 13 Pro Max • iPhone 12 • iPhone 12 mini • iPhone 12 Pro • iPhone 12 Pro Max • iPhone 11 • iPhone 11 Pro • iPhone 11 Pro Max "Help make the next releases of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, HomePod software and AirPods firmware our best yet," Apple said in an update on its website. "As a member of the Apple Beta Software Programme, you can take part in shaping Apple software by test-driving pre-release versions and letting us know what you think," As long as you know this isn't finished software and are prepared to see the odd glitch, it's really easy to give the Public Beta a go. To get iOS 26, simply head to Apple's website (see the link here) and follow the instructions to sign up for its Beta Software Program. The process doesn't take long, and you'll soon find your iPhone is running with all the shiny new updates announced last month. WHAT'S NEW IN iOS 26? There's plenty going on in iOS 26 including a new look, which Apple is calling Liquid Glass. It does pretty much what it says on the tin, with menus, apps, and interactions getting a glossy appearance that really does look like you're looking glass. The update is subtle at the times, but it certainly refreshes things and adds a modern twist to the on-screen appearance. The lock screen has also had a refresh in 2025 with things getting even more interactive. The much-loved clock will now fluidly adapt to the available space on the display with it also changing depending on the image and what notifications pop up. Next, there are some smart changes coming to Apple's popular phones. If you are fed up with those annoying cold calls then iOS 26 is worth installing. Apple has added a new feature in this release called Call Screening which won't let unknown numbers pester you until the person on the phone confirms who they are. There's also good news if you travel a lot. iOS 26 will translate both calls and texts in real time, so you can hear and see exactly what is being said.

Apple releases the iOS 26 Public Beta with Liquid Glass
Even though you don't need to pay Apple to install the iOS Developer Beta 26 updates on your iPhone, many prefer to wait for the Public Beta releases instead. That's because the Developer Beta updates are released first and might be more risky to download than the Public version. Apple released the Developer Beta of iOS 26 on June 9th, and I have had it on my iPhone 15 Pro Max since then. Today, approximately 6 weeks after the Developer Beta was dropped by Apple, the tech giant has made the iOS 26 Public Beta available. To install the iOS 26 Public Beta, go to Settings > General > Software Update . At the top of the Software Update page, tap on Beta Updates, and on the next page, tap on iOS 26 Public Beta. A check mark will appear indicating that you've selected this beta version to receive. Go back to Settings > General > Software Update , and you should receive the prompt to install the iOS 26 Public Beta. Follow the directions to install it. The new Liquid Glass look on iOS 26 Public Beta. | Image credit-PhoneArena If this is the first time you're installing a beta version of iOS on your iPhone, you'll need to register with the Apple Beta Software Program by going to If you've already registered in the past, ignore this step and start with the beginning of the previous paragraph. Before doing anything, you need to back up your phone. Even though this is a Public Beta release, there is still a chance that a feature you need on your iPhone stops working because of a bug created by work on the Beta. At one point, with the iOS 26 Developer Beta running on my iPhone, incoming calls stopped ringing until the next Beta release was disseminated. Classic call screen on left, Unified iOS 26 call screen on right. | Image credit-PhoneArena The biggest change you'll notice with the update is the Liquid Glass design that makes many buttons appear as though you're looking through a liquid version of glass. There are other changes to the UI for the Phone app that you'll need to get acquainted with. For example, the Favorites feature has been replaced with avatars of the people and places you call the most. Instead of tapping the Favorites tab, there is a "Calls" tab on the bottom of the screen that, when pressed, will show the avatars of your Favorites on top of the screen. Tapping on the avatar will start the call. Also on this page will be your Recent calls, with tabs for Contacts, Keypad, and Search. Tap the three line icon in the top-right, and you can choose between this new Unified look or what Apple calls "Classic." One thing you won't see is any changes to Siri, as plans to update the digital assistant have been delayed.

When Is the iOS 26 Public Beta Available? Right Now!
Apple released the first public beta of iOS 26 on July 24, more than a month after the company announced the upcoming software at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. Apple said in June the new iOS version would be available to the general public this fall, but developers and beta testers can try an early version of iOS 26 now on their iPhones. If you're a public beta tester or developer, you can download the first public beta of iOS 26 by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Tap Beta updates to make sure you have iOS 26 Public Beta selected. Then tap Update Now and following the prompts on your screen. On July 15, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman predicted on X, formerly Twitter, that the public beta would be released around Wednesday, July 23. Since Apple released the beta on Thursday, July 24, that still counts in my book. Before you download the iOS 26 public beta, you should know that this is not the final version of the software. That means the update might be buggy and your device's battery life may be affected, so it's best to keep those troubles off your primary device. If you want to try the beta, I recommend downloading it on a secondary device. You should also know iOS 26 is only compatible with devices newer than the iPhone 11. So if you have an iPhone XR -- like I do -- you can't download the developer or public beta of iOS 26. Trust me: I tried, and my XR wouldn't load the page to download the developer beta despite me really wanting to see if my almost 7-year-old device could handle the OS. For more, here's what to know about Liquid Glass, how iOS 26 revamps your iPhone's alarm and everything else you should know about the update.

Apple iOS 26 is now available to the public. Here's how to get it—and 5 useful new features to try
In June, Apple previewed the iPhone's next operating system, iOS 26. Without a doubt, the headline feature of iOS 26 (yes, the iPhone's OS has a new number system) is its complete design overhaul, known as 'Liquid Glass.' The new design introduces a transparent look to iOS, utilizing animations to replicate the way light and other objects refract through glass. Liquid Glass is an ambitious overhaul for the iPhone's operating system, but it's not the only change coming to iOS 26 when it ships to the public this fall. The new operating system is packed with some truly useful new features that will make using your iPhone better than ever. And, if you're interested in trying out those new features before iOS 26's official September launch date, now you can, thanks to the availability of the iOS 26 Public Beta, which Apple released this week. How to get the iOS 26 Public Beta on your phone right now The great news is that anyone can sign up to be a public beta tester for iOS 26. Once you do this, you'll be able to install the iOS 26 public beta on your iPhone, provided you have a compatible model, which is the iPhone 11 and later. To sign up for the public beta, go to Once you've signed up, open the Settings app on your iPhone and from there tap General, then Software Updates. Tap Public Beta, and select the iOS 26 public beta from the list presented to you. Now, tap the back button, and on the Software Update screen, you'll see you can now update to the iOS 26 public beta by tapping the blue 'Update Now' button. Once your iPhone restarts, it'll have the iOS 26 public beta running on it. Now. you can check out some of the operating system's best new features. Onscreen Awareness Visual Intelligence Visual Intelligence is Apple's name for iOS's ability to identify something by looking at it. This feature is powered by Apple Intelligence, and in the current iOS 18, is only usable via the Camera. In other words, Visual Intelligence can interpret things your camera sees in the real world, but not things on your iPhone's actual screen. Onscreen Awareness for Visual Intelligence in iOS 26 changes that. Now, your iPhone can use Apple Intelligence to recognize what's happening on its screen and take action based on that on-screen awareness. For example, if you take a screenshot of a social media feed that shows a celebrity chilling at a cafe, you can tap their sweater and ask Visual Intelligence to show you where you can buy a similar one. Or, if someone posts the details of an event in a text message or social channel, you can simply take a screenshot of the details and have Visual Intelligence add the event to your calendar for you. Hold Assist for phone calls The Phone app in iOS 26 is getting its first major redesign in more than a decade, and, as mentioned before, it may just make you want to use your phone to make phone calls again. Coming to the Phone app in iOS 26 is a redesigned layout that puts all your call history, contacts, and voicemails in one place; call screening, which forces a caller to identify themselves before the iPhone will let the call go through; and Live Translation, which can translate the spoken words of a caller who does not speak the same language as you. advertisement But perhaps the best new Phone feature in iOS 26 is the ability to have the iPhone wait on hold for you. Now, you can simply tap the 'Hold' button whenever you are put on hold, and the iPhone will continue holding your place in line, notifying you only when you reach the front. Customized Messages backgrounds and polls Apple's popular Messages app is getting several updates in iOS 26. The first is, like much of iOS 26, cosmetic, but welcome nonetheless. Now in Messages, you'll be able to set a customized background image for each chat you are in. Yes—no more seeing those blue chat bubbles against a white wall. You can now set a color or image you prefer, adding some flair to each chat. A second great feature of Messages in iOS 26 is the ability to create polls within a message thread. Polls can help streamline planning when you are asking a group chat what day works best for everyone to meet up. Now, instead of waiting for everyone to type in their reply, members of the chat can just select with a tap from the poll options you specify. Passport storage iOS 26 is also adding a few great features for travelers. The first is the ability to store your U.S. passport on your iPhone in the Wallet app. With your passport stored on your iPhone, you can use it to prove your identity at select TSA checkpoints. The stored passport can also be used to verify your age in third-party apps. Best of all, the stored U.S. passport is Real ID compliant. However, before anyone gets too excited about this feature, keep in mind that if you are traveling internationally, you'll still need to bring your actual physical passport with you. As noted by MacRumors, your stored digital passport cannot be used for border crossings. Still, if you are just traveling domestically within the United States, this new feature is a great way to ensure that you always have some identity on you—provided you have your iPhone. Real-time flight information on your lock screen A second great travel-related feature Apple is adding to iOS 26 is Live Activities, for flights for which you have your boarding pass stored in the Wallet app. Now these flights will show real-time updates on a widget on your iPhone's home screen, including the flight's progress, its arrival gate information, and more. What's even better is that you can share this real-time information with someone else, such as a person on the ground who is picking you up when your flight arrives.
