Take-Two CEO Assures 'BioShock 4' Won't Be Cancelled Despite Development Woes
Things are not looking good for Take-Two's much-anticipated shooter follow-up, BioShock 4 , as the title has been plagued with troubles after reportedly being in development for over a decade, but still, the company is adamant that the game is in no danger of cancellation. Speaking to IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was quick to rebut speculation when asked if the game was in any danger of being cancelled. 'It's going to come out,' he replied. 'That I can say hand on heart, without question.' Despite this, he did admit that development isn't going smoothly, a fact that was previously made known with a recent Bloomberg report by Jason Schreier detailing a change in leadership and a narrative overhaul after the title failed a review by 2K Games executives. 'We don't talk about how long our development cycles are. We have had some ups and downs along the way. That is accurate. And we have had changes in studio leadership,' he continued. 'we have very big shoes to fill because of the legacy of Ken Levine, the legacy of what has gone before, which has been so successful.' 'And we need to make sure that this experience is true to the BioShock DNA on the one hand, and a massive step forward on the other hand. That's always challenging. We think we're up to the challenge, but it has not been seamless.' Zelnick also touched on the topic of lengthy game development cycles, and how modern titles tend to have a longer gestation period as audiences are not only expecting the product to not just be good, but rather surpass expectations. While this isn't exactly the news that fans who have been waiting for the next title want to hear, at least they can rest easy knowing that the team is taking the time to get it right. This sentiment is further echoed by a statement 2K Games issued to Bloomberg on the state of BioShock 4 , which reads: 'We are working hard to set BioShock up for the best possible future. Right now, we have a good game, but we are committed to delivering a great one. We are working closely with leadership at the studio to define this path.' BioShock 4 hits a major development snag, and a remake of the original gets put on ice
BioShock fans will have to wait even longer to find out if we're going to Rapture, Columbia or a brand new city since the next game in the franchise may be headed back to the drawing board. According to a report from Bloomberg , the latest BioShock game that's being developed by Cloud Chamber failed a review with executives at 2K Games. Bloomberg 's sources explained that the execs wanted improvement with the game's narrative, which "will be revamped in the coming months." 2K Games said in a statement to Bloomberg that it currently has a "good game, but we are committed to delivering a great one." As the fourth installment in the hit BioShock franchise, it has to follow up on the success of BioShock Infinite , which was released in 2013 and earned several awards for overall design, gameplay, story and original soundtrack. The latest development hitch also comes along with some major changes in the game studio's leadership. According to Bloomberg , Cloud Chamber's studio head, Kelley Gilmore, left the role, while the studio's creative director, Hogarth de la Plante, was shifted to a publishing position. While the title isn't confirmed, the game believed to be BioShock 4 was announced in 2019 along with the creation of the Cloud Chamber studio. We still don't have a game six years later and the studio responsible may be at risk of layoffs, as the latest Bloomberg report mentioned a recent all-hands meeting where Cloud Chamber developers were told the company "needs to become more agile and efficient." The fourth BioShock isn't the only game in the series that seems to be stuck in development hell. According to Bloomberg , the remake of the original BioShock was reportedly shelved earlier this year by 2K Games. The breakout hit that threw players into the unique setting of Rapture came out in 2007 and has since been remastered in 2016 as part of BioShock: The Collection . The remaster was made to support 1080p resolution and higher frame rates, but fans have been waiting for a complete remake that portrays the dystopian underwater city with more modern graphics.

Long-Awaited PS5 Game Might Finally See the Light of Day Soon
Rumor has it that PS5 players might finally get to see a new game in a fan favorite retrofututistic franchise. In case the image above didn't make it obvious, we're talking about a potential BioShock 4 reveal. Will PS5 get BioShock 4 before Ken Levine's new game, Judas? Back in May, it was reported that 2K Games is gearing up to announce something related to the BioShock franchise. Leaker Kurakasis has now shed some more light on that report. In a post on X, the insider claims that 2K is preparing an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) for the reveal. For the uninitiated, it means we'll get some type of an interactive game that has fans guessing, looking for clues, and putting together pieces of the puzzle, ultimately leading to a reveal. According to Kurakasis, the ARG will revolve around Rapture, but what they can't confirm is if this ARG will lead to the reveal of the rumored BioShock 1 remake or the movie. Frankly, it would be a bit silly for 2K to plan a whole ARG surrounding a remake or a movie, so our money is on a BioShock 4 reveal, but don't hold your breath. The next BioShock game is not being developed by series creator Ken Levine, who is working on a new IP for 2K. Like the next BioShock game, Levine's upcoming title Judas has spent eons in development, and so far, we have seen no signs that it'll be out anytime soon. Will we get BioShock 4 before Judas? Your guess is as good as ours! The post Long-Awaited PS5 Game Might Finally See the Light of Day Soon appeared first on PlayStation LifeStyle.

BioShock remake might be happening as insider teases announcement
A source has claimed a BioShock announcement is set to drop this summer, and most signs point to a potential remake. While we know several projects are underway in the BioShock franchise, news around the series has been relatively light over the past few years. The next mainline instalment, provisionally titled BioShock 4, was announced way back in 2019 from developer Cloud Chamber. We've heard little about the game since, outside of a job listing which suggested development was ramping up last year. We know a Netflix film adaptation is also in the works, while rumours of a BioShock remake have floated around following a LinkedIn post from a 2K employee. We've heard little about these projects either, but an insider has claimed news related to the franchise is on the near horizon. According to leaker Kurakasis (via Mp1st), who accurately outed the existence of a Metro VR game last year, publisher 2K is preparing to make an announcement related to the BioShock franchise, which will 'likely' happen before the end of the summer. The actual contents of the announcement are unknown, but the leaker claims Rapture, the underwater city setting from the first two games, will play a 'significant role'. As such, they speculate it could be connected to the rumoured remake of the first title. However, the report throws up some other possibilities. While rumours suggested BioShock 4 would be set in the Antarctic, it's possible it could feature Rapture in some capacity. The announcement could also be tied to the Netflix movie, which will presumably adapt the events of the first game. More Trending While it hasn't been announced, a remake of BioShock makes a lot of sense as a way to drum up excitement for the next instalment – especially as the latter might still be a few years away. Considering how vague the details are though, it's possible this announcement could be related to something else entirely within the BioShock franchise. So let's just hope it isn't a mobile spin-off. As for when this announcement could happen, the obvious contender is Summer Game Fest on Friday, June 6. It could also pop at Microsoft's Xbox showcase on June 8, or the rumoured State Of Play from Sony. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter, and sign-up to our newsletter.
