Malaysia-Indonesia talks promising for Sabah: CM

He said Sabah's position was conveyed during the discussions, with several related matters now undergoing further refinement. While declining to reveal specific topics, Hajiji noted that the outcomes of the meeting are expected to benefit the state in due course. He clarified that the issue of Ambalat was not part of the consultation agenda, as it falls under international legal jurisdiction. The Chief Minister joined Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the 13th annual bilateral meeting held at the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday. Also present were Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. Singareni boss plants 204 saplings of fruit-bearing trees
Kothagudem: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) N Balaram planted 204 fruit-bearing saplings on Monday as part of the Vanamahotsavam celebrations held at the Kothagudem Bungalows area. With this, his personal tree plantation tally has reached 19,775 saplings, planted across different areas of the Singareni company from 2019. Balaram began this journey on June 5, 2019, World Environment Day, by planting 108 saplings. Since then, he has actively participated in afforestation drives in all Singareni operational zones, aiming to lead by example. Speaking on the day, the CMD urged citizens to actively participate in protecting the environment. 'Environmental protection is not the sole responsibility of the government or public institutions. Every individual must take part. Let us all plant at least three saplings each and encourage our families and communities to do the same,' he said. Highlighting the company's ongoing initiatives, he announced that Singareni has so far planted 5.47 crore saplings across 15,231 hectares, and continues to nurture them as part of its long-term ecological mission. He also stated that 2.29 crore fruit-bearing saplings have already been distributed to nearby villages, enabling rural families to grow their own produce and contribute to a greener tomorrow. He added that Singareni is ready to distribute fruit saplings free of cost to anyone interested in growing them.

NLC India exploring possibilities to source rare earth from overseas: CMD
State-owned NLC India Ltd is exploring possibilities to source rare earth element from overseas and the company has also begun preliminary talks for lithium blocks in Mali, West Africa and for copper and cobalt mines in the Republic of the Congo, its CMD Prasanna Kumar Motupalli said. The remarks came amid China's recent curbs on exports of rare earth elements , impacting the global supply chain of the critical mineral which has diverse usage ranging from the manufacturing of home appliances to electric vehicles. In an interview to PTI, Motupalli said that both mines and coal ministries have very clearly communicated to the Navratna firm to "aggressively" explore and mine both critical mineral blocks and rare earth elements. "We are in touch with the Ministry of Mines and Ministry of Coal, and based on the advice from them we have started taking initial steps of some of the mines abroad. So as on date we are studying some lithium mines in Mali and copper and cobalt mines in the Republic of the Congo," the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) said. The CMD said that the things are still at the preliminary stage and future course of action will be decided after the signing of the non-disclosure agreement which is expected this month. "But we will be cautious while finalising this. We will be taking all the factors of socio-economic condition, stability in the respective countries and then we will move forward," he explained. The company, he said, is targeting to produce one million metric tonnes of critical mineral in the next five years from both domestic sources and overseas. The company had earlier bagged two critical and strategic mineral blocks located in Balod district of Chhattisgarh. The blocks -- Semhardih Phosphorite and Limestone Block and Raipura Phosphorite and Limestone Block -- were awarded to NLCIL through an auction route. The CMD exuded optimism that the exploration of both the blocks will begin at the earliest. NLC India's core businesses include mining of coal and lignite as well as power generation.
