Sacked by Putin, Russian minister ends life with awarded gun
This is a representative AI image In a shocking incident, Russia's former transport minister, Roman Starovoit, shot himself dead from a gun he was awarded hours after President Vladimir Putin sacked him. According to a report from the Daily Mail, the minister was found dead at his home in the village of Myakinino, in the Odintsovo district of Moscow region. A firearm was recovered near his body. Meanwhile, no reason was given for his dismissal. After sacking Starovoyt, his deputy, Andrey Nikitin, was appointed as acting transport minister. According to Dailymail, Starovoit used the gun that was awarded to him in 2023 by the leadership of the ministry of internal affairs. His sacking followed cancellations and delays of hundreds of flights at Moscow's Sheremetyevo and St Petersburg's Pulkovo airports over the weekend. According to the report, travellers had to suffer massive wait times as Ukrainian drone attacks disrupted the functioning. It also impacted other airports in western and central Russia. Between Saturday and Sunday, around 485 flights were cancelled and 1,900 services were delayed.

Neck adjustment gone wrong: Man in 20s left with shocking Locked-In syndrome for life; know what it is
Image credits: X/@toot5000 Whoever thought visiting the chiropractor for a simple neck adjustment could change your life for the worse? It seems now, you need to be careful of who you visit for medical help and also need to monitor any kind of treatment for some time. Jonathan Buckelew, now 34, was taken to a Georgia hospital after he seized and became unresponsive during a chiropractic neck adjustment on October 26, 2015, revealed court documents, as reported by Daily mail. Buckelew, who was in his 20s back then, was rushed to the North Fulton Hospital, where his brain stem stroke went undiagnosed for a day and thus altered his life forever. The delay in the diagnosis and thus the treatment led to him developing locked-in syndrome, a rare neurological condition that leaves a person completely paralyzed except for their eyes. While they may be aware of their surroundings and listen to them, they are left with no way of communicating or moving. What is Locked-In syndrome? Image credits: Getty Images Locked-In Syndrome (LIS) is a condition where a person experiences quadriplegia- paralysis in all four limbs and the torso and bulbar palsy- a group of signs and symptoms resulting from impairment of lower cranial nerves, all because of damage in the brainstem. According to the National Library of Medicine , patients preserve cognition, eye movements and hearing but suffer from motor loss. The mean age of onset for the syndrome is between 30-50 years of age, mostly among men. Common symptoms of the syndrome are related to a disruption in the functions that pass through the ventral brainstem thus leading to dizziness, paralysis of limbs and torso, difficulty with voluntary breathing, apnea and more. It is stated that prompt diagnosis of the disease, supportive treatment and early rehabilitation have helped people positively, which was not performed in Buckelew's case. EXCLUSIVE Millionaire futurist creating 'mutant humans' reveals when new race will make ordinary people 'obsolete'
Humanity is on the verge of being replaced by a race of superhuman hybrids with powers only dreamt about in movies. Herbert Sim, a millionaire tech investor and futurist in London, has begun pouring his wealth into the study of transhumanism - the enhancement of humans through science and technology. Sim told that a new mutant race could be walking among ordinary humans within the next five years. At that point, Sim claims that the human race will essentially be obsolete as these real life 'X-Men' make it impossible for regular people to match their abilities. His tech start-up, has been exploring how to make transhumans a reality, upgrading the mind using a helmet that reads brainwaves. The brainwaves are projected onto a computer which then reads and turns them into actions. Sim said it's one of the first steps in 'upgrading' humanity, allowing this new race of mutants to live longer and defeat diseases. 'Transhumanism can help to extend your life for 500 years and then it's amazing to think what we can achieve,' Sim said. 'Humanity has now reached a point where we are at a crossroads and we're trying to accept technology into our lives to enhance our lifestyles,' the entrepreneur said. Although X-Men may still sound like something that only exists in science-fiction, animal-human hybrids (mutants) have already been created in Japan. In March 2019, Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology lifted a ban on creating animal embryos with human cells and allowing them to be brought to term in surrogate animals. This allowed stem cell biologist Hiromitsu Nakauchi from the University of Tokyo to inject human stem cells into rodent embryos, creating a hybrid that couldn't form a normal rodent pancreas. The goal of the project was to grow a human-compatible pancreas in these rodents instead, which could then be used for organ transplantation. 'All of this technology is here to help humans transcend and live longer,' Sim explained. 'These are possible superpowers that humans can have through the use of genetic technology,' he added. Sim compared the rare sight of a mutant in today's world to ancient humans claiming they saw dragons. While the accounts seem fantastic and hard to believe, the futurist argued that too many different cultures share the same stories and depictions of these mythical creatures for them to be fake. However, Sim warned that human mutants won't go extinct like the dragon presumably has; mutants will grow in numbers and eventually take over society. 'Because of these very dominant [new] races, they will be better than humans in every single way,' Sim revealed. 'The humans that are left over, they will not be able to contribute to society as effectively as these transhumans, and this is when humanity will then become obsolete,' he added. The topic of superpowered mutants has been a fantasy of the entertainment world for decades, with shows like X-Men and the Bionic Woman imagining how genetics and robotics could one day improve humanity. However, studies reveal that transhumans are already walking around society today. This month, researchers from the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard reported in Science that they have created a new tool using CRISPR (a gene-editing method) to insert large pieces of DNA into human cells with incredible precision. This could be used to fix genetic diseases or even improve traits like extending longevity. In March, MIT scientists announced they figured out how to turn human skin cells directly into brain cells (neurons) without extra steps, making the process 100 times more efficient than before. They tested the new brain cells by putting them in mouse brains, where they worked perfectly. This could help fix brain damage in people with diseases like Parkinson's. In July 2022, a company called Synchron put a tiny chip in the brain of someone with ALS, a disease that makes it hard to move or speak. They inserted the chip through a vein in the neck, so it was less invasive than brain surgery. The chip let the person control things like a computer or phone just by thinking, like sending texts or browsing the web - similar to Sim's newest breakthrough in reading brainwaves. 'At the moment, lots of people have only seen this technology in films and see it as a downfall but I believe it's our redemption,' Sim said. 'The way I see it is that technology and science are here to empower humans the same way medicines and phones are here to make our lives better.'

Mood lighting, baby oil & drugs: Shocking images from Diddy's hotel room after his arrest
Sean Diddy Combs' Shocking images revealed during the federal trial of Sean 'Diddy' Combs, showing the disgraced rap mogul preparing for "freak offs" at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, despite knowing he was about to be arrested in September 2024. During the proceedings, his former partner Cassie provided testimony, following her previous allegations of coercion and mistreatment. Law enforcement images revealed Combs had arranged baby oil and ambient lighting in his hotel room, even though he had agreed to surrender to authorities, Dailymail reported. The evidence presented included small bags containing pink substances, pharmaceutical items, heating equipment and currency. Prosecutors identified some substances as ketamine and MDMA. Cassie detailed Combs' specific requirements for intimate encounters, including constantly burning aromatic candles that she described as 'super pungent and were mixed with oil and all of the other scents.' She also mentioned his preference for heated baby oil. Whilst Combs maintains his innocence in the sex trafficking and racketeering charges, his legal team argues the evidence pertains to consensual gatherings. Special Agent Yasin Binda from Homeland Security Investigations testified about discovering suggestive items and substances in Combs' room. These included lubricants, mood lighting, and various drugs. A prescription for Klonopin under the name 'Frank Black' was also found. The court also examined photographs showing Cassie with facial injuries from alleged incidents during their relationship. She described sustaining injuries at a Los Angeles hotel and in Canada, where she required medical attention. Despite these incidents, she initially chose not to report them to protect Combs. Cassie testified that their relationship evolved from professional mentorship to romance during her 21st birthday celebration in Miami.

Rare ‘albino' killer whale stuns the world: Viral video shows elusive orca swimming with its pod
A photographer spotted an incredibly rare 'albino' orca leaping out of the ocean along with its pod. A video of the extraordinary sight captured by the Japanese whale-watcher stunned the internet. The killer whale was spotted off the coast of Japan's volcanic island Hokkaido, reported Dailymail. Noriyuki Hayakawa shared a series of photos and a video on his personal Instagram page soon after the encounter last year. However, the visuals have recently captured people's attention. 'It is believed that the discovery was 'Sightseeing Boat'. I was on the 'Shiretoko Nature Cruise Evergreen38'. This is the first white orcas I've come across after 15 years of photographing Rajan orcas. Thank you to the Lajan tourist boat staff for showing me,' read the caption of Hayakawa's video when translated from Japanese to English. The video he shared shows a pod of whales jumping out of the water, and one of them is nothing like the other. While all the other creatures are black with white patches on some parts of their bodies, one of them is entirely white. A post shared by Shiretoko_Orca_Photo_album 早川 徳幸 (@shiretoko_orca_photo_album) According to Dailymail, the white orca is not a 'true albino, " a genetic trait in which the skin doesn't produce melanin. The outlet reported that this creature is leucistic, which means it lacks pigmentation. "My legs were shaking with excitement," Hayakawa told Dailymail. "It was the first time in my life I'd seen a white orca. I was desperate to get a shot, they swim fast and only surface for a moment,' he added. 'This photo means so much to me' he told the outlet, adding, 'I've spent over a decade photographing orcas and this is the first white one I've ever seen.' 'I hope as many people as possible get to see it and appreciate how rare and beautiful these animals are,' he continued.
