Nathan Fillion Shares the Heartwarming Story Behind His DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Role as Headpool — GeekTyrant
Nathan Fillion may have recently stolen the spotlight as Guy Gardner in Superman , but his ties to comic book movies run deep, and not just in the DCU. Over in the Marvel world, Fillion has already played multiple roles, with his biggest MCU moment coming in Deadpool & Wolverine as the fan-favorite floating head, Headpool. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Fillion revealed how his friendship with Ryan Reynolds led to the hilarious cameo, and why it was years in the making. Fillion said: "I was actually in the first Deadpool. My scene got cut out. You'll have to remember I was filming Castle at the time. It had to be a very small part, and I requested that I be unrecognizable. It's in a deleted scenes thing. I think you can get it if you buy the movie digitally." That original cameo saw Fillion briefly appear as a towel guy at the strip club where Morena Baccarin's Vanessa worked. Unfortunately, it never made it to the theatrical cut. Still, Reynolds tried to make it up to him. "He asked me to come in and audition for something in the second Deadpool, which was very generous of him. 'We're still in touch. He's a very generous man, and he's very interested in sharing the wealth, honestly. He's got so many incredible opportunities, and he likes to remember his friends and spread those opportunities around." By the time Deadpool & Wolverine rolled around, Reynolds was determined to get Fillion involved, this time for real. "Ryan would text me and say, 'Hey, would you do me a favor?' Like I'm doing him a favor. We recorded a bunch of different stuff. We started at one character, then we moved over to being Headpool, and then we were futzing the jokes." Fillion continued: "We did a lot of stuff that never made it to the movie, but then there came a day where they asked me to go down the street and record it in an official recording booth." That led to one of Fillion's favorite compliments of his career. "Shawn Levy, the director, called me just before I was about to leave the house and he said, 'We're all listening to your recordings that you sent us, and we don't really see any reason to rerecord these.' I considered it a real compliment that my recording booth was movie quality." Whether we'll see the Deadpool Corps again remains a mystery, though rumors suggest they could pop up in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars . For now, Headpool might be a one-and-done for Fillion, but his comic book journey isn't slowing down. He's set to return as Guy Gardner in Peacemaker season 2 and HBO's upcoming Lanterns series.

Superman's an all-American hit again.
Superman's an all-American hit again. Director James Gunn's DCU reboot scored $122 million in the US this weekend, the best launch ever for a Superman solo pick, and the biggest comic opening since Deadpool & Wolverine . That's a strong start, but $95 million in the rest of the world is less impressive, suggesting the Man of Steel hasn't entirely shed the patriotic sheen that Trump tried to take advantage of. That probably hurts its hopes of joining the billion dollar club.

Ryan Reynolds Exploring Possible Deadpool And X-Men Crossover Movie?
Published By : Bang Showbiz Ryan Reynolds is reportedly writing a treatment for a potential 'Deadpool' / 'X-Men' movie. Ryan Reynolds is exploring a possible 'Deadpool' / 'X-Men' movie. The 48-year-old actor is believed to be in the early stages of writing an ensemble movie featuring Deadpool and three or four 'X-Men' characters. It is believed that Deadpool would be a minor character in the movie, giving the 'X-Men' characters more screentime. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 'Reynolds is said to believe that keeping his f-bomb wielding anti-hero more on the sidelines could allow for the X-Men characters to be used in unexpected ways". Reynolds' film would be completely separate to the potential 'X-Men' movie that Michael Lesslie is writing for Marvel Studios. Ryan has previously starred in 2016's 'Deadpool', 2018's 'Deadpool 2' and the 2024 movie 'Deadpool Wolverine' with Hugh Jackman. Ryan previously revealed that he didn't expect to make another movie starring Deadpool, but he would return for a film with his alter-ego as a supporting character. Speaking to Andrew Garfield for Variety's Actors on Actors, he said: 'I don't know. Honestly, my feeling is that the character works very well in two ways. One is scarcity and surprise. So, it had been six years since the last one, and part of the reason is that it swallows my whole life. I have four kids, and I don't ever want to be an absentee [dad]. 'I kind of die inside when I see their faces and they do a sports thing or something and I missed it. I don't know what the future of Deadpool will be, but I do know that we made the movie to be a complete experience instead of a commercial for another one. 'Deadpool's a supporting character much more than he is the centre. We centre him sometimes because that's what they want but you can't centre him unless you take everything away from him. You have to create a situation where he's so much the underdog. I don't think I can do that again. 'If he comes back, it's gonna be in someone else's movie. Channing Tatum…I would happily be a fifth banana in his movie or anyone else." First Published:
