1968 to 2025: Full list of Wimbledon women's singles winners and runner-ups

The 2025 edition of Wimbledon was a historic one as the women's singles final saw Iga Swiatek her maiden Wimbledon championships after beating Anisimova in a dominant fashion via a straight sets victory. She was crowned after a 6-0, 6-0 victory that etched her name in the history books as well. Although the iconic Wimbledon began 148 years ago back in 1877, the current Open Era started in 1968. Martina Navratilova of the USA holds the record for most women's singles wins at Wimbledon with 9 titles to her name. The tournament has been operational annually since entering the Open Era, except in 2020 when it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year saw Carlos Alcaraz take the men's singles title for the second year in a row, while Barbora Krejcikova triumphed in the women's singles championship. They returned to defend their titles, along with Novak Djokovic, who is looking to add a record 25th grand slam trophy to his groaning mantelpiece. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad While Krejcikova exited to Emma Navarro in the third round, Alcaraz and Djokovic have made it to the semi finals - along with world number ones Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka. Meanwhile, while Andy Murray's 2024 tournament was his last, there was Scottish interest courtesy of Edinburgh-born Jacob Fearnley - but sadly he's already out, beaten in the first round. And honorary Scotsman Cameron Norrie though (his dad's from Glasgow) sadly went out in the quarter finals of this year's tournament against Alcaraz on Tuesday - meaning British interest in the singles in now finished. But there are still plenty of Brits in the doubles, with Joe Salisbury, Julian Cash, Lloyd Glasspool, Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid all playing on the show courts today. However all eyes will be on the women's semi finals. First Horizon National (FHN) Earnings Expected to Grow: Should You Buy?

First Horizon National (FHN) is expected to deliver a year-over-year increase in earnings on higher revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended June 2025. This widely-known consensus outlook gives a good sense of the company's earnings picture, but how the actual results compare to these estimates is a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price. The earnings report, which is expected to be released on July 16, might help the stock move higher if these key numbers are better than expectations. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower. While management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call will mostly determine the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations, it's worth having a handicapping insight into the odds of a positive EPS surprise. This bank holding company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $0.41 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +13.9%. Revenues are expected to be $826.37 million, up 1.4% from the year-ago quarter. The consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 1.73% lower over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period. Investors should keep in mind that the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts may not always get reflected in the aggregate change. Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise Estimate revisions ahead of a company's earnings release offer clues to the business conditions for the period whose results are coming out. This insight is at the core of our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction). The Zacks Earnings ESP compares the Most Accurate Estimate to the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the quarter; the Most Accurate Estimate is a more recent version of the Zacks Consensus EPS estimate. The idea here is that analysts revising their estimates right before an earnings release have the latest information, which could potentially be more accurate than what they and others contributing to the consensus had predicted earlier. Thus, a positive or negative Earnings ESP reading theoretically indicates the likely deviation of the actual earnings from the consensus estimate. However, the model's predictive power is significant for positive ESP readings only. A positive Earnings ESP is a strong predictor of an earnings beat, particularly when combined with a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy) or 3 (Hold). Our research shows that stocks with this combination produce a positive surprise nearly 70% of the time, and a solid Zacks Rank actually increases the predictive power of Earnings ESP. Please note that a negative Earnings ESP reading is not indicative of an earnings miss. Our research shows that it is difficult to predict an earnings beat with any degree of confidence for stocks with negative Earnings ESP readings and/or Zacks Rank of 4 (Sell) or 5 (Strong Sell). For First Horizon, the Most Accurate Estimate is higher than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bullish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of +2.94%. On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #4. So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that First Horizon will beat the consensus EPS estimate. While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number. For the last reported quarter, it was expected that First Horizon would post earnings of $0.4 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.42, delivering a surprise of +5.00%. Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates three times. An earnings beat or miss may not be the sole basis for a stock moving higher or lower. Many stocks end up losing ground despite an earnings beat due to other factors that disappoint investors. Similarly, unforeseen catalysts help a number of stocks gain despite an earnings miss. That said, betting on stocks that are expected to beat earnings expectations does increase the odds of success. This is why it's worth checking a company's Earnings ESP and Zacks Rank ahead of its quarterly release. Make sure to utilize our Earnings ESP Filter to uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they've reported. First Horizon doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release. Tennis-'Best way to say goodbye': Fognini retires after Wimbledon epic with Alcaraz

Jun 30, 2025; Wimbledon, United Kingdom; Fabio Fognini (ITA) waves to the crowd while leaving the court after his match against Carlos Alcaraz (ESP)(not pictured) in what is his final match at Wimbledon on day one of The Championships, Wimbledon 2025 at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Images LONDON (Reuters) -Italy's Fabio Fognini announced his retirement from tennis on Wednesday, calling time on a 21-year career that culminated with a memorable five-set thriller against defending Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz that left Centre Court on its feet. The 38-year-old veteran pushed Alcaraz to the brink over more than 4-1/2 hours last week, twice clawing his way back into the contest against a player 16 years his junior before eventually falling 7-5 6-7(5) 7-5 2-6 6-1 in the first round. Despite the defeat, Fognini walked off to a standing ovation in his final Wimbledon appearance, a fitting farewell he clearly relished at what he described as the "most beautiful court in the world". "I think it is the best way to say goodbye," Fognini, who once reached a career-high of world number nine, told reporters. "It wasn't easy because the last three years of my career I was suffering a lot with injury. But as a competitor, I tried to do my best every time I stepped on court. "But now I have to be honest with myself. I was not really positive, but now I have to be. I have to congratulate myself and say after that match I don't want to come back in some stage that I don't want to be there." Fognini is married to Flavia Pennetta, who famously won her first Grand Slam singles title at the 2015 U.S. Open at the age of 33 before retiring later that year. However, Fognini said he had no such opportunities as he acknowledged the harsh reality of competing during the sport's golden era when the 'Big Three' of Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic dominated the game. "I was able to play in an era that probably is going to be the best era, forever, in the sport. I played against Roger, against Rafa, against Nole," he said. "Winning a Slam for me was impossible. I have to be honest," he added with a smile. Fognini had harboured hopes of ending his career at next year's Monte Carlo Masters, where he claimed his biggest title in 2019. "My best dream was finishing next year in Monte Carlo. The main goal was that one because I was able to win the tournament," he said. "But that's it, it was not possible. I'm happy the way I say goodbye to the professional tennis career. I did my best." (Reporting by Rohith Nair in Bengaluru; Editing by Ken Ferris)
