Kia Carnival makeover: explore the upgraded interior and fresh design now available in South Africa

The facelifted Kia Carnival gets sculptured bonnet lines, a bold new character line that connects the front and rear lights and more pronounced wheel arches. Kia South Africa has revealed their facelifted people carrier Carnival with an upgraded interior and a new look exterior. They've done away with the mid-spec SX variant and now offer the still well-specced entry-level EX and the range-topping SXL. Exterior Designed with the company's new SUV-inspired design language, it gets sculptured bonnet lines, a bold new character line that connects the front and rear lights and more pronounced wheel arches. In addition, it gets a new Tiger Nose grille, two-tone side mirrors, black and chrome rocker panel mouldings and a rear skid plate garnish. Depending on the model variant, it stands on either 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels.

Thoroughly refreshed Kia Carnival officially stickered

Line-up now spans two models, both the same drivetrain, but with upgraded levels of standard specification. Showcased at the end of last year as part of its product preview plans for 2025, Kia South Africa has now officially detailed and priced the facelift Carnival. Changes Debuting a look applied two years ago internationally, the now five-year old, fourth generation Carnival not only ushers in a restyled exterior and interior, but a range reduction from three to two as the mid-spec SX has been dropped entirely. ALSO READ: First look: Facelift Kia Carnival approved for arrival in 2025 Leaving the entry-level EX and top-spec SXL, the internally named KA4 Carnival's revised aesthetic consists of new LED headlights, L-shaped daytime running diodes, a redesigned bumper and bonnet, a new Tiger Nose grille and fog lamps now integrated into the sides of the lower air intake. Rear facia has received a similar massive redesign to the front. Image: Kia Continuing the latest interpretation of Kia's Opposites United styling language, the rear facia has been redesigned to feature a new bumper, a flush tailgate without a grab handle – replaced by a button located beside the reverse camera – and new light clusters connected by an upper full-width light bar. Inside Offer seating for seven regardless of the trim grade, inside, the interior mirrors that of the updated Sorento by receiving the pair of 12.3-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system, the latter with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the digital climate control panel from the Sportage, a new centre console, standard two-tone leather and imitation alloy inserts. Interestingly, the traditional gear lever has made a comeback in contrast to the rotary selector dial the displayed model featured last year. Interior gets a pair of new 12.3-inch displays, but only on the top-spec SXL. Image: Kia Optionally available with eight-seats, the Carnival's seven-seat setup comes in a 2-2-3 arrangement, with Kia claiming boot space from 1 139-litres to 4 110-litres. For the top-spec SXL, the middle row can be swivelled or even reclined depending on the requirement. Spec On the spec sheet, the EX comes equipped with the following: 18-inch alloy wheels; dual sliding doors; 12.3-inch infotainment system; 4.2-inch instrument cluster display; auto folding mirrors; electric driver's seat multi-function steering wheel; keyless entry; four USB ports; push-button start; six-speaker sound system; wireless smartphone charger; seven airbags; front and rear parking sensors; reverse camera; Hill Start Assist; Electronic Stability Control Upping the ante considerably, the SXL swaps the 18-inch wheels for 19-inch alloys, the audio system for a 12-speaker Bose unit, the cruise control for Adaptive Cruise Control, and the instrument cluster display for the new 12.3-inch Also included are: electric, heated and ventilated front seats; electric dual sliding doors; hands-free electric tailgate; dual panoramic sunroofs; rain-sense wipers; Head-Up Display; remote opening of rear doors and tailgate; 360-degree surround-view camera system; Blind Spot Monitoring; Lane Keep Assist; Rear Cross Traffic Alert; Front Collision Avoidance Assist; Lane Departure Warning; Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist Unchanged drivetrain As with the Sorento, the Carnival keeps the same powertrain as before, namely the 2.2-litre R-series turbodiesel engine, which produces 148kW/440Nm, but mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox instead of the former's eight-speed dual-clutch. Despite tipping the scale at just under two tonnes, the Carnival will get from 0-100 km/h in 10.7 and 10.8 seconds, respectively, and top out at 190 km/h. Colours and price In terms of colours, five shades have been selected: Panthera Metal, Ceramic Silver Metallic, Ivory Silver Metallic, Snow White Pearl Metallic and Aurora Black Pearl Metallic. Honda Drops Aggressive 2025 Prologue Lease Deal For August

Honda Drops Aggressive 2025 Prologue Lease Deal For August originally appeared on Autoblog. A solid deal on the 2025 Honda Prologue EV If the name 'Prologue' sounds like Honda's first EV, you're not entirely wrong—but it's not the first ever. That title technically goes to the short-lived Clarity and Fit EVs. This time around, the Prologue is stepping in as a placeholder until Honda rolls out its own fully in-house electric models—and with these great August lease deals, it's an easy one to keep on your shortlist. 2025 Honda Prologue lease deals for August 2025 Honda is offering some aggressive lease terms right now on the AWD EX, running until September 2, 2025: $159/mo for 24 months with $2,599 due at signing $299/mo for 24 months with $2,999 due at signing $269/mo for 36 months with $3,299 due at signing $169/mo for 36 months with $3,099 due at signing These prices don't include accessories or premium paint, and they're based on a closed-end lease through Honda Financial Services. Its MSRP sits at $51,850, with an actual net capitalized cost of $31,761.59. The monthly payments reflect the $7,500 Clean Vehicle Credit applied upfront. Lessees are responsible for maintenance, excess wear, and 20 cents per mile over the 10,000-mile annual limit. Why the 2025 Honda Prologue is worth considering The Prologue comes equipped with an 85.0-kWh battery. FWD single-motor versions can go an EPA-estimated 308 miles on a charge, while AWD dual-motor models give up a little range for extra punch. Honda's adjustable regenerative braking system means you can drive it with one pedal if you want, and there's even a paddle on the steering wheel for dialing up more regen when you need to slow down without touching the brakes. Efficiency is solid for its size, especially with the FWD EX and Touring trims rated at 113 MPGe city and 94 MPGe highway. The cabin keeps things clean and understated, though some of the borrowed Chevy switchgear feels a little out of place. With a wheelbase 8 inches longer and a body 5 inches wider than the CR-V, the Prologue has noticeably more passenger and cargo space, making it comfortable for longer trips. Final thoughts The Honda Prologue is quiet, comfortable, and easy to live with—just don't expect the sharp driving dynamics you get from some of Honda's gas-powered models. Given that it's co-developed with GM, that's not a shock. The steering is light, body roll is controlled, and while there's more road noise than you'd expect from an EV, it's still a relaxing drive. When you factor in the current lease deals, it's an even more tempting way to get into a well-equipped EV without stretching your budget. *Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only. ‘Wonderful display': Saskatoon EX is underway

One of Saskatoon's longest-running events is in full swing. The EX is back with all the much-loved favourites, but it has also expanded in a few new ways. 'There are more rides and, in a lot of cases, bigger rides,' Peter Jelinsky, manager of signature events for Prairieland, told CTV News. 'The roller coaster is back. Some of the larger, taller rides that have never made it here before are showing up. So, there's a lot more excitement and a lot more thrills than in the past.' Eleven new rides are making their way to the midway this year. It's expanded from six to eight days this year, and not just fireworks are hitting the skies this year. 'What we've added to it is a drone show that has a wonderful display in the sky. It lasts about 10 to 12 minutes, and it's unlike anything I've ever seen. Saskatoon has never had anything like this before, so it's a first,' Jelinsky said. Saskatoon EX (Chad Hills/CTV News) Then there's all the stage entertainment. 'We've got Smash Mouth, Core Blend. We've got TLC on the main stage, and then we ended off with Saskatoon Rock, Saskatoon with the Sheepdogs and Whitesnake, both Mason doing a double bill for us on the main stage,' he said. With so many things to see and do at the EX, there's still one booth that is extra popular. It's the Spudnuts, where the secret recipe of these unique donuts is kept tightly under wraps. 'It was a group of people from the Scouts organization that actually patented the special spices, so it was their patent from their master scientists,' Sharon Odnokon, Food Manager for Prairieland, said. The flour is prepared with the spices at a plant in Edmonton, and the ingredients are top secret. While it's possible to buy Spudnut flour elsewhere, the special blend of spices used at the EX cannot. Saskatoon EX (Chad Hills/CTV News) The Scouts originally operated the Spudnut booth for 50 years but found it difficult to find enough volunteers to keep up with demand, according to Odnokon. They handed the rights to Prairieland in 1990. Ten thousand spudnuts are made daily during the EX. They are rolled by hand by a crew of about six people. Staff looks forward to their advanced tasting each year. 'Everybody's like, 'Yay, the spudnuts are here!' So that's our little perk,' she said. The weather looks good for this year's exhibition, and they're expecting about 250,000 people through the gates by the time it wraps up on August 7. There will be increased security with metal detectors for the second year. The hope is to eliminate incidents like bear spray attacks, which have affected the EX in past years. 'We've got new software for the metal detectors. They can get very specific as to what they can detect on a human being,' Jelinsky added. The measures are ensuring that guests can focus on the fun of the event.

EGA Chairman starts-up final reduction cell in next generation technology pilot in step towards large-scale industrialisation

United Arab Emirates, July 2025: Emirates Global Aluminium's Chairman Homaid Al Shimmari started-up the final reduction cell in the company's next generation smelting technology pilot project in Al Taweelah. The pilot is a key step in readying EX smelting technology for large-scale industrialisation, making the project an important foundation of EGA's future growth and the further strengthening of EGA's position as the technology provider of choice in the global aluminium industry. EX is EGA's 10th generation smelting technology and produces more aluminium with less energy and lower emissions. Homaid Al Shimmari, Chairman of Emirates Global Aluminium, said: 'EX technology enhances EGA's ability to remain at the forefront of the global aluminium industry. Our aim is to apply this technology in our planned facility in Oklahoma, the first new primary aluminium production plant to be built in the United States since 1980. As part of this effort, we will test the technology using alumina refined from bauxite sourced from multiple locations, to further prove its potential for global deployment.' Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium, said: 'The pilot of our new EX technology is a strategic project for EGA, and is the latest chapter in our long history of industry leadership through technology innovation. The performance of EX reduction cells during start-up and in the first weeks of production has been even better than expected, and I am excited about what this technology will achieve. I thank each colleague who worked so hard to develop this new technology and build the pilot in Al Taweelah.' EGA has developed its own aluminium smelting technology in the UAE for more than 30 years. All EGA smelter expansions since the 1990s have used EGA technology, and the company as retrofitted all its older potlines. EGA's technology development, and earlier work since 1980, has reduced the amount of electricity required to make each tonne of aluminium by 37.5 per cent. EGA was the first UAE industrial company to license its core process technology internationally, in a deal with Aluminium Bahrain in 2016 for the use of EGA's DX+ Ultra technology in the Bahraini company's Potline 6 expansion project. The EX pilot in Al Taweelah will also be used to prove the most advanced Industry 4.0 capabilities in the global aluminium industry. EGA launched its digital transformation in 2021 to boost cost competitiveness, agility, and flexibility, and to improve safety and sustainability. Since then, EGA has implemented more than 80 Industry 4.0 use cases, generating around $100 million in financial impact. In January 2025, EGA became the first industrial company in the UAE and the first aluminium company in the world to be designated an Industry 4.0 global lighthouse by the World Economic Forum. Construction of the 10 pilot pots began in late 2024, and the first reduction cell was energised in mid-June.
