Lebanon Central Bank Signs Deal with US Risk Management Advisory Firm to Combat Illegal Activity
Lebanon's central bank signed an agreement on Monday with US risk management advisory firm K2 Integrity aimed at combating illegal activities and fraud, according to a statement. The agreement is part of the central bank's efforts to come off the global financial crime watchdog FATF's "grey list" of countries under special scrutiny. FATF placed Lebanon on the list last October.

Banque du Liban has signed a cooperation agreement with U.S.-based K2 Integrity, a global leader in risk management and financial investigations, as part of efforts to limit the growing cash economy and combat illicit and fraudulent activity. It also gave details on how groups like Jaish and Lashkar used sham NGOs and digital platforms to raise and move funds In a first, the Paris-headquartered Financial Action Task Force ( FATF ) has turned its attention to state-sponsored terrorism, identifying it as a 'longstanding TF [terrorist financing] threat to international peace and security as well as to the stability of regional financial and political systems'. The latest FATF report vindicates India's longstanding stance by indirectly referencing Pakistan 's role in supporting terrorism. In June, the global money laundering and terrorist financing watchdog condemned the April 22 Pahalgam carnage and said such attacks would not have been possible 'without money and the means to move funds between terrorist supporters'.
