Iconic emo band spark breakup rumours on 20th anniversary

It's been 20 years since Paramore released their debut album All We Know Is Falling but instead of celebrating, fans have gone into meltdown. The 00s emo icons released a deluxe version of their album with four new tracks to mark the occasion before chaos hit the fandom. Speculation that the band is splitting up exploded after frontwoman Hayley Williams, 36, dropped 17 new solo songs without any warning. Days after the Paramore release, the tracks appeared on the Simmer singer's website, which could only be accessed via a code sent by her hair dye company. As fans eagerly sank their teeth into Hayley's new music, fears that she had split with bandmate Taylor York, 35, began to grow. Tracks like 'Disappearing Man' and 'Love Me Different' appeared to hint at a breakup, and, of course, fans jumped to the worst conclusion. 'Listening to new Hayley Williams album that's clearly about a breakup with Taylor York,' wrote @goodlarkcharm on X. Ellimac_ added: 'Hayley Williams just released 17 songs about breaking up Taylor York. Hopefully unrelated, she also is selling a shirt that says 'HW is my favorite band'. Please say sike. I cannot handle another Paramore breakup rn.' 'So we've got Paramore disbandment allegations, Taylor and Hayley have broken up allegations…WELCOME TO HAYLEY WILLIAMS' THIRD SOLO ALBUM i guess…' said decodethemonstr. Chall3ngers shared a gif of Family Guy's Peter Griffin driving off a cliff with the caption: 'Streets are saying Hayley Williams and Taylor York brokeup.' Neither Hayley nor the notoriously private Taylor, who have been together for almost a decade, has said anything about their relationship to prompt this panic. its so over — al (@alvvxia) July 28, 2025 if hayley williams and taylor york really did break up then it might just truly be the end of paramore this time LOL — ﷽ (@fr4ilbugs) July 28, 2025 The Misery Business singer was previously married to Chad Gilbert, before their split in 2017, so some are pointing to this relationship as inspiration. However, on one track, Hayley sings: 'Friends to lovers choking true/ You said it, I deserve someone who knows what I am worth/ Now I wonder what am I worth to you?' Since Hayley and Taylor were friends for years before making it official, fans have taken this lyric to be about their relationship. Elsewhere, she sings: 'The long walk between the car and the house/I just sit behind the wheel 'til the battery runs out/ Home is where we rule out, used to sing down the hall/ to your signature sound. 'Now it's just so quiet, I hate this gorgeous house/ Can't hear my heart beat over emptiness now'. While fans point to her relationship with Taylor here, the track itself is titled 'Negative Self Talk', which fits with other songs that explore her own mental health — with one explicitly named after an antidepressant, mirtazapine. Not everyone was spiralling online, with plenty of long-term fans poking fun at the instant doomsday response. TaekyoghouI joked: 'Hayley Williams, you have to stop. You smoke too tough. Your swag too different. Your lyrics are so great that everyone starts believing Paramore broke up.' Afterlauqhter added: 'Seeing longtime Paramore fans immediately jumping to doomerism when we've had these songs for precisely one hour and have likely only listened to each one Once and don't even know the context for the timeline any of them what is up with you guys? Just enjoy the music for now.' This is not the first time Hayley has released solo music, having dropped two EPs then full albums Petals for Armor and Flowers for Vases / Descansos in 2020 and 2021, respectively. She's also featured as a solo artist on collaborations like Taylor Swift's Castles Crumbling, a vault track from Speak Now, as well as 2010's iconic Airplanes with B.o.B. Earlier this year, she released I Like It I Like It with Moses Sumney, which came with an official video of the pair posing together for a photoshoot as they sang the track. Paramore's future has been a big question in fans' minds ever since their 20-year contract with Atlantic Records expired following the release of sixth studio album, This Is Why. More Trending Their social media was wiped clean to mark this new era and a fresh slate, again prompting disbandment rumours. After this, the band went on tour with Taylor Swift — a lifelong friend of Hayley's — with loved-up songs from the Paramore frontwoman and guitarist. It's hardly surprising, with a packed tour schedule, label changes, and Hayley (and bandmate Zac Farro) working on solo projects, that the band is yet to announce new music. Hulu Orders Two More Exclusive ‘Family Guy' Holiday Episodes, Including Halloween Special This Fall

'Family Guy' is set to premiere more exclusive specials for Hulu, in addition to the Fox episodes that it continues to stream. Meeting with fans Saturday at the San Diego Comic-Con, the 'Family Guy' team revealed that new Halloween and other holiday editions of 'Family Guy' were in the works for Hulu. The new batch kicks off on Monday, Oct. 6, with a new Halloween 'Family Guy' special set to run. It's the first of two new exclusive episodes for Hulu. The news was shared during 'Family Guy's' Comic-Con panel, which featured stars Alex Borstein, Seth Green and Jennifer Tilly along with executive producers Alec Sulkin and Kara Vallow. Here's the logline: 'Brian and Stewie realize there is a shortage of quality Halloween songs, so they set out to write a hit, and Peter and the guys discover that lying about trick or treating can have deadly consequences.' The special is separate from the show's upcoming Season 24, which is set to premiere in 2026 on Fox. After premiering on Fox, it will stream on Hulu. This is the second round of specials that have been ordered to Hulu outside of Fox. 'Family Guy' previously produced another Halloween special, titled 'Peter, Peter Pumpkin Cheater,' which ran last October. And then there was the holiday event 'Gift of the White Guy,' which premiered on Hulu last year on Nov. 25. The 'South Park' panel opened with a sneak peak at upcoming clips from the show, including satiric jabs at Jeffrey Epstein, Lauren Boebert, Eddie Murphy, the Emmys, 'Lord of the Rings,' Bill Cosby and more. Also coming up: Lois discovers, for the very first time, that Stewie can talk. The Comic-Con panel included Alex Borstein (Lois), Seth Green (Chris) and Jennifer Tilly (Bonnie), with executive producers Alec Sulkin and Kara Vallow. Toward the end of the panel, comedian Matt Friend (who also moderated the panel) and Borstein re-enacted the now famous Coldplay moment between the Astronomer CEO and his HR head. Then, Friend as Michael Bublé and Borstein, in her Lois voice, performed a parody of 'Me and Mrs. Jones' — singing 'Me and Mrs. Griffin.' 'Family Guy' is coming off last year's 25th anniversary. Per 20th, 'since its debut in 1999, the series has reached cult status among fans, and its breakout star, a talking baby, has become one of the greatest TV characters of all time.' Family Guy comes from 20th Television Animation; Seth MacFarlane is creator and executive producer. Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin are executive producers and showrunners, while Steve Callaghan, Tom Devanney, Danny Smith, Kara Vallow, Mark Hentemann, Patrick Meighan and Alex Carter are executive producers. ‘The Naked Gun' 2025 premiere leaves audiences in stitches; Critics hail Liam Neeson's comedic reinvention

Live Events (You can now subscribe to our (You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel After three decades in development limbo, The Naked Gun has returned to the big screen and will be released on August 1. According to early reactions from Monday's premiere, and if the social media buzz is a thing, it's a triumphant, tear-inducing comeback that's just as outrageous, silly, and relentlessly funny as fans by Akiva Schaffer (Popstar, Palm Springs) and produced by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, the 2025 reboot marks a bold leap into slapstick for Liam Neeson , who plays Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen's iconic detective from the original Pamela Anderson , Paul Walter Hauser, and Danny Huston, Neeson has stunned audiences, not with intensity this time, but with impeccable deadpan delivery and comic response from film critics and fans at the New York premiere was swift and euphoric.'There are like six different scenes in The Naked Gun that made me laugh so hard I cried,' tweeted critic David Ehrlich. 'Even the title card is funny. I wrote 'SO DUMB (complimentary)' in my notebook several times.'Dan Mecca of The Film Stage called the reboot 'a freakin' miracle' — a modern comedy that's 'tightly scripted (under 90 minutes!), hilariously funny, and has a simple, meaningful message about the state of the world.'Critic Rendy Jones perhaps summed up the general feeling best: 'Big 'they just don't make these like this anymore' vibes… I think I ruptured a spine or a ribcage or a cheekbone because of how hard I was laughing.'Many pointed out that Neeson, long seen as the brooding face of the Taken franchise, reinvents himself with unexpected brilliance.'Might have laughed harder during this than any movie this year,' said critic Shaurya Chawla. 'One of Liam Neeson's best performances in so long. Loved Pamela Anderson here too. What a blast.'Others praised the film's ability to honor the spirit of the originals without being stuck in the past. 'It's not just a cover band,' wrote David Gonzalez. 'It follows the golden rule: be funny.'Perhaps most significantly, the film is being hailed as a much-needed return to theatrical comedy. 'We just don't see movies like this anymore,' several critics noted, how rare it is today to watch an entire theatre erupt in collective full reviews still to drop and the film set for worldwide release on August 1, The Naked Gun is shaping up to be a surprise hit, not just for nostalgic fans of Leslie Nielsen's absurd detective antics, but for anyone hungry for a genuinely funny, unpretentious comedy.
