CAF to Redraw U20 AFCON Groups After Tunisia Replace Cote D'Ivoire
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will redraw the groups for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations following Tunisia's late entry into the tournament.
Tunisia step in to replace Cote D'Ivoire, who have pulled out of both participation and hosting duties. With Egypt now confirmed as the new hosts, CAF is looking to adjust the draw to ensure Egypt are placed in Group A, in line with standard practice for host nations.
As reported by Egyptian outlet FilGoal, CAF wants the revised groups to reflect the tournament's new structure and hosting arrangement.
Morocco were originally drawn in Group B alongside Egypt, Nigeria and South Africa. That group is now expected to change as a result of the redraw.
The tournament kicks off on Sunday 27 April, with the final set for 18 May. The top four teams will qualify for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, which runs from 27 September to 19 October. Tags: CAFU20 AFCONU20 Morocco
