I tried Google's new AI tool for finding flight deals. It told me how to live affordably inside my favorite movies.

Google's new AI tool is more than willing to help me live out my "Mamma Mia!" fantasies. On Thursday, Google debuted Flight Deals, its AI assistant for travel booking. The tool, which is still in beta, allows users to input general prompts and receive affordable flight plans. After toying with Flight Plans for a few hours, I didn't find anything significantly cheaper than the pre-existing Google Flights. The $514 flight to Rabat, Morocco, was "62% less than usual," Flight Plans told me. But I found about the same price by Googling "flight to Rabat." What's more meaningfully new with Flight Plans, then, is its ability to answer open-ended questions. For travelers looking for a specific activity, Flight Plans could prove beneficial. Ask the tool where to go on a ski trip or on a safari, and it'll find the cheapest option within your parameters. Or, for the cinephiles of the world, you could ask it to place you in your favorite movies. I've always wanted to groove to some ABBA by the Mediterranean Sea, imagining myself alongside Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried. Maybe Flight Plans could place me within " Mamma Mia!" The tool easily handled the prompt, providing me dates and times for reduced-price flights to Kalamata, Heraklion, or Athens. What about " Harry Potter" and its wizarding world? I told Flight Plans I was rewatching the movies; it provided $431 tickets to Edinburgh, where J.K. Rowling wrote the first book. I hope to someday see those famous hills Julie Andrews says are "alive with the sound of music." When I asked Google Flights to get me there, it found $464 tickets to Salzburg. Recently, I strolled down to my local AMC to see the 20th anniversary rerelease of " Brokeback Mountain." The pastoral scenes are so beautiful — and Flight Plans could get me to them via Jackson, WY, for $249. Television also offers ample ground for travel. I loved " The White Lotus" — could Google send me on trips based on seasons one, two, and three? The tool found flights to Kahului, Catania, and Ko Samui. None of these use cases are particularly new or unique to Google's Flight Plans. You could easily do the same with ChatGPT — and people do, with the chatbot becoming a popular tool to assist with travel booking. But, with Google Flights technology integrated, Flight Deals may have some extra perks.

Google announces AI-infused Flight Deals

WASHINGTON: Google has announced the launch of a new tool called Flight Deals, as part of its flight search services, designed to make it easier to find low-cost travel tickets using artificial intelligence technologies. In a statement, the company explained that the tool allows users to describe their trips in natural language, without needing to enter traditional search criteria. For example, travellers can type descriptions of the type of trip they'd like, and the tool then analyses available options and presents the best deals. It is scheduled to roll out next week in beta form in the United States, Canada, and India, before being introduced in other countries. It will be accessible via the Flight Deals page or through Google Flights. Google also confirmed that its traditional flight search interface, Google Flights, will remain available with some updates, including an option to exclude basic economy tickets on flights in the US and Canada.

'Flight Deals': Google launches new AI-powered search tool for 'best bargains'

On August 14, Google introduced a new AI-powered search tool called 'Flight Deals'. The tech giant said that the tool is "designed for flexible travellers whose number one goal is saving money on their next trip". In a blog post detailing how it works, Google said that users can just describe when, where and how they'd like to travel "as though you're talking to a friend" to uncover top deals. Users can search something like 'week-long trip this winter to a city with great food, nonstop only' to see the "best bargains available" across destinations. The blog post said: "What makes Flight Deals unique is that it uses Google's advanced AI to understand the nuances of what you're looking for and identify matching destinations. Then, it'll tap into real-time Google Flights data to quickly show you relevant, up-to-date options from hundreds of airlines and booking sites." This feature will be rolling out in the coming week in the US, Canada and India. Flight Deals is being launched in beta to gather feedback as of now. The original Google Flights will continue to stay.

Google launches AI-Powered flight deals

Google has launched Flight Deals, an AI-powered search feature for finding flights at the best price for travellers who place importance on savings and flexibility. The Flight Deals is available within Google Flights as a new tool that is used to describe users' travel preferences, allowing the generative AI to find the best deals on flights, matching the user's description. Initially, the Google Flight Deals feature will be available in the US, Canada, and India. It will be rolled out next week as a beta version, and gather feedback, exploring how AI can enhance travel planning for users, says Google. The Flight Deals can be accessed by visiting the Flight Deals. Using the Flight Deals feature, instead of adjusting dates, destinations, and filters manually, travellers can enter prompts, such as 'week-long trip this winter to a city with great food, nonstop only to a city with great food", or '10-day ski trip to a world-class resort with fresh powder". The AI-powered feature is said to offer the best available deals, matching the user's description. The other highlight of the Flight Deals is that it uses advanced AI to understand the nuances of what the user is looking for and finds matching destinations. It then searches the real-time data of Google Flights to quickly find out the updates of hundreds of airlines and booking sites.
