A New BTS Documentary Is on the Way

Titled "Forever We Are Young", the film centers on ARMY, BTS's devoted global fanbase, and will arrive in cinemas on Wednesday, July 30 via Trafalgar Releasing. From Seoul to Los Angeles, Lewisville to Mexico City, the film follows fans across continents who share one powerful connection: their love for BTS. The project dives into the fan-led movements that helped launch BTS into superstardom and reflects on how ARMY has become a global symbol of unity, inclusion, and collective strength. 'There is no BTS without ARMY and no ARMY without BTS,' said co-directors Lee and Ahn in a joint statement. "Forever We Are Young" made its world premiere at SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas, to sold-out audiences and standing ovations, followed by screenings in cities like Copenhagen, Mexico City, and Los Angeles. The film features stories from ReactorCon in Texas, dance cover groups in South Korea, and longtime fans who have organized and mobilized ARMY since BTS's 2013 debut. Produced by Eurie Chung, Grace Lee, Nora Chute, and Patty Ahn, and executive produced by Oscar winner Morgan Neville (20 Feet From Stardom), Caitrin Rogers, and James Shin, the film blends personal stories with global milestones to illustrate ARMY's profound cultural impact. Oscar Vazquez and Aldo Velasco serve as editors, with original music by Andrew Orkin and cinematography by Jerry Henry. BTS, whose name stands for 'Bangtan Sonyeondan' (Beyond the Scene), debuted in 2013 and has since become one of the most successful acts in pop history. With six Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits and millions of albums sold globally, the group's cultural influence extends well beyond music. ARMY, short for 'Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth,' now boasts over 90 million members worldwide. The film tracks the group's success from the time they debuted to the present and how everything has been from the viewpoint of the fans. Directed by Grace Lee ('The Silencers' and 'Too Hot To Handle') and Patty Ahn, the film explores fans from different regions of the world. From Seoul to New York, the film aims to show the connection that connects everyone, regardless of boundaries and language barriers. The film is said to explore the passion, creativity and activism that BTS ARMY share. As per Billboard, both of the directors issued a statement regarding the release of the film, stating that, 'There is no BTS without ARMY and no ARMY without BTS. The debut happened at SXSW 2025 The film made its official debut at the 2025 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival, better known as SXSW 2025. The film festival was held in March earlier this year in Austin, Texas. This is not the first BTS-related film to be released on a global level. Previous titles include 'Burn the Stage: The Movie', 'Love Yourself in Seoul', 'Bring the Soul: The Movie', and 'Break the Silence: The Movie'. The feature-length documentary Forever We Are Young by award-winning directors Grace Lee and Patty Ahn will hit theaters on July 30. The film shines a spotlight on the BTS global fandom known as Army—currently at 90 million fans and growing. Army, an intergenerational, culturally savvy and socially active movement is as diverse as the world itself. The film captures the powerful spirit of activism and collectivity that make the fandom a symbol of hope and unity. For more than a decade BTS has been recognized for delivering exceptional music and performances. The South Korean band, composed of RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook, have collected six No.1 Billboard Hot 100 singles since 2020 and performed multiple sold-out stadium shows across the world. The film debuts on July 30.
