Google's AI-Powered Virtual Try-On for Online Shopping Is Now Live
Google's Try On, an AI-powered feature in Search that allows you to try on clothes virtually, is now live, the company said Thursday. Try On, previously limited to Labs users, is opening itself up to the broader Google user base. When people search for clothes to buy via Google Search, some items will have a "Try it on" button. It'll then use a photo of you (or one you've uploaded of someone else) and render the clothing over your or their body, taking into account your/their size and shape and forming the clothing around you or them. The process can take 5 to15 seconds. A demonstration of Google's Try On mode. Google Along with Try On, Google Search will get other enhanced shopping features. As the name suggests, Price Alerts gives shoppers a heads-up when the price for an item they're eyeing hits a specific number. By clicking "tap price," users can set up an alert for when the price of an item they want meets their budget. AI Mode, a new vertical in Google Search that's currently limited to Labs users, is getting a new generative imaging feature. It'll use AI image generation to render different clothing styles or room design options, to give some inspiration. It'll also pull up shoppable product listings. Google's integration of more AI-powered features across its product portfolio is now coming for its core money maker: online search. Whereas previously Google focused on delivering the top search results based on people's keyword entries, it's now pivoting to using AI to answer people's questions directly and understand their intent. This fundamental shift is in response to ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot that can answer questions directly with novel answers, despite the complexity. ChatGPT is currently the world's most popular AI chatbot, with 400 million active weekly users. Gemini, Google's own AI chatbot, has 400 million active monthly users. Google Search, however, is still the dominant online search platform, with 6.4 billion unique monthly visits. Integrating AI directly into Google Search acts as a highly popular ingress into Google's AI products. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said AI features are helping increase Google Search usage overall. But AI results in search might be hurting news publishers and other sites that create original content.

Google's AI Overviews have 2B monthly users, AI Mode 100M in the US and India
Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai shared an update on the adoption of consumer-facing AI apps and features, including Google Search's AI Overviews, Gemini, and AI Mode. On the company's Q2 2025 call with investors, Pichai shared that AI Overviews — a Google Search feature offering an AI summary of search results available in 200 countries and territories — now has 2 billion monthly users, up from 1.5 billion in May 2025. In addition, Google's Gemini app has grown to 450 million monthly active users. 'We continue to see strong growth and engagement with daily requests growing over 50% from Q1,' Pichai said of the app. Meanwhile, AI Mode — a way to use Google Search via an AI chat experience to get more in-depth answers — has over 100 million monthly active users, Pichai said. The service is available in the U.S. and, more recently, India, but is still rolling out. The CEO also said the experience will be upgraded in the near future with the addition of the advanced research tool, Deep Search, and more personalized responses. On the developer front, Google said more than 9 million have built with Gemini and over 70 million videos have been produced with the Veo 3 AI model since May. Google Vids, a Veo-powered feature for text-to-video AI generation in Google Workspace, now has nearly 1 million monthly active users. In Google Meet, over 50 million people used AI-powered meeting notes in Google Meet, the company also said. The stats are meant to illustrate consumer demand for AI features. For instance, Google shared that AI Overviews were driving over 10% more Google Search queries, for the types of searches that show them. However, it's arguably difficult to determine how many people have truly and willingly turned to AI in Search, when the features have been thrust upon them as aggressively as they have been. Across Google's platform and products, Google quantified its growth by monthly tokens processed, saying that it had announced at its developer conference in May that it had processed 480 trillion monthly tokens, and that figure has now doubled to 980 trillion monthly tokens. 'We are seeing significant demand for our comprehensive AI product portfolio,' Pichai told investors. 'Of course, this is all possible because of the long-term investments we have made in our differentiated, full-stack approach to AI.' Investors, however, reacted negatively to Google's plans to increase its capital expenditure spending to keep up with the AI race, which sent the stock slipping shortly after earnings were announced. Google's CEO says ‘AI is positively impacting every part of the business'
Google is all-in on AI, and based on the company's latest quarterly earnings, AI has been good for its bottom line. In a press release for Alphabet's Q2 2025 earnings, CEO Sundar Pichai says that 'AI is positively impacting every part of the business' and that features like AI Overviews and AI Mode are 'performing well.' The company is also planning to increase its planned capital expenditures for the year up to $85 billion, according to Pichai. That's an increase of $10 billion, and could be a sign that Alphabet wants to keep pace with massive data center buildouts from companies like OpenAI and Meta. For the quarter, Alphabet reported revenue of $96.4 billion, up 14 percent year over year, with revenues for its 'Google Search' segment reaching $54.1 billion. Pichai's comments on AI align with recent findings from Pew, which suggested that AI Overviews appear to be successful at getting people answers but at the expense of clicks through to the websites that would otherwise offer them. During the second quarter, Google hosted its annual I/O developer conference, which was jam-packed with AI-focused announcements like the rollout of AI Mode for Search (which news publishers have called 'theft'), upgrades to its video and image generation models, Gemini AI in Chrome, and much more powerful smart replies in Gmail. (Based on that event, Google's future is Google googling.) And just ahead of I/O, Google hosted an Android-focused show where it revealed the youthful new design language for Android 16. At the same time, Google is anticipating the ruling from the remedy phase of the Department of Justice's lawsuit, which took place during the second quarter as well. Last August, a judge ruled that Google 'is a monopolist' in that antitrust case, and remedies could include Google getting broken up. (A lot of companies have expressed interest in buying Chrome.) The company also changed its 'G' logo for the first time in nearly a decade. Alphabet will be hosting its earnings webcast beginning at 4:30PM ET. ChatGPT Surpasses 2.5 Billion Daily Requests: A Threat to Google's Throne? - Jordan News
In a clear indication of the explosive growth in generative artificial intelligence, OpenAI has announced that its chatbot, ChatGPT, now handles over 2.5 billion requests per day. This staggering number translates to more than 912.5 billion requests annually, underscoring the rapid global adoption of the tool. اضافة اعلان While Google Search still maintains a significant lead with around 5 trillion searches per year, the accelerating growth of ChatGPT poses a direct challenge to Google's dominance, particularly to its advertising-driven business model. Recent data highlights a sharp increase in ChatGPT's user base, with weekly active users jumping from 300 million in December to over 500 million by March 2025. This surge reflects the expanding reliance on generative AI for various daily applications by users around the world. Amid this intensifying competition, OpenAI is preparing to launch a new AI-powered web browser in the coming weeks, according to Reuters. This move aims to directly compete with Google Chrome and follows the recent release of the ChatGPT Agent tool, which allows users to automate tasks on their devices. It's also worth noting that other AI tools are seeing significant user growth as well. This includes xAI's Grok chatbot, integrated into the X platform (formerly Twitter), Meta AI embedded within Meta's platforms, and the AI search engine Perplexity—all of which signal that the generative AI landscape is becoming more competitive by the day.
