He said: "The fact that Panathinaikos are in the Champions League played a very big part in my decision to come here. "We have two very big matches against Rangers coming up, and we need to be 100 per cent ready to play them. "I am sure we have enough in the team to get through." Chirivella added: "It was an easy decision to sign here because everyone knows Panathinaikos are a very big team. "I wanted to come here, I have big ambitions to play in the Champions League. "I think we can win the title this season and that's one of my goals."

Ahly striker Abou Ali proud of Club World Cup campaign
The Palestinian international impressed in the inaugural edition of the expanded competition, despite Ahly's early exit. He scored a hat-trick in a dramatic 4-4 draw with Portugal's FC Porto on Tuesday and was named man of the match. 'It was a tournament full of lessons, with both highs and lows,' Abou Ali wrote on Instagram. 'Without a doubt, I will look back on it with pride as time goes on.' The 26-year-old's future at the Cairo club remains uncertain, with media reporting he could leave during the summer transfer window. Abou Ali joined Ahly from Swedish side IK Sirius in January 2024 on a four-year deal. Despite arriving mid-season, he finished as the Egyptian Premier League's top scorer with 18 goals. Since joining the record African champions, he has netted 38 goals and provided 10 assists in 60 appearances in all fronts. Motherwell boss has 'strong authority', as his Copenhagen gaffer praises appointment
Motherwell have selected a manager with 'strong authority' in Jens Berthel Askou, according to his boss at Copenhagen. Dane Askou, 42, will take up the reins at Fir Park next week, just ahead of pre-season training starting, as he replaces Michael Wimmer, who surprisingly quit so he could return to Germany for personal reasons. Advertisement Copenhagen boss Jacob Neestrup, who former Norwich City defender Askou was assistant to, says the Lanarkshire club have selected a man with many qualities. When appointing Askou, Neestrup said: "He is a coach with a big profile and a strong authority. "He comes with toughness and firm determination to succeed. "He is a man who I believe can make our defence even better, both individually and collectively. "We think he can improve the players. He can help us become an even more competitive team, especially at defending set-pieces. Jens will be responsible for that. Besiktas reportedly interested in Go Ahead Eagles' Edvardsen
According to VoetbalPrimeur and RTV Oost, Besiktas are interested in Victor Edvardsen. Polish striker Patryk Klimala, who plays for Australian Sydney FC, is seen as a replacement in Deventer if the Swede actually leaves. Edvardsen has been one of the most talked-about Go Ahead Eagles players in recent weeks due to fine personal form and his feud with AZ player Wouter Goes. Advertisement His playing feats, as well as his competitive streak, have not gone unnoticed in Turkey either, with Besiktas said to be interested in Edvardsen. The Swede is still under contract at De Adelaarshorst until next summer. If Edvardsen does not extend his contract, this summer is the time to prevent him from leaving for free in 2026. Preparing for the worst, Go Ahead are already working on a replacement for Edvardsen in the background, and Klimala is in the picture.
