The leak suggests that the iPhone 17 Pro Max may feature a battery of around 5,000mAh capacity, surpassing the current largest iPhone battery of 4,676mAh, in the iPhone 16 Pro Max. According to 9to5Mac, this could represent close to a 10% increase in battery capacity. New Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max leak suggests major upgrade
A new leak has stirred excitement among Apple fans, hinting that the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max—expected to launch this September—may feature the largest battery ever seen in an iPhone. The leak originates from Weibo user Instant Digital, a source with a mixed but occasionally accurate track record when it comes to Apple predictions. Bigger, thicker, and built to last? According to the leak, pointed out by Forbes, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could pack a battery close to 5,000mAh, surpassing the current heavyweight, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which sports a 4,676mAh battery. That would mark almost a 10% boost in capacity, a significant jump. Fueling these claims is a widely reported rumour that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be thicker than its predecessor, increasing from 8.25mm to approximately 8.725mm. That additional half a millimeter could offer enough space for a larger battery without drastically altering the feel of the phone in hand. Despite Apple's consistent yearly upgrades—better cameras, faster processors, smarter AI—battery life remains one of the top demands from users. Currently, the iPhone 16 Pro Max boasts an impressive 33-hour battery life, up from 29 hours on the iPhone 14 Pro Max and just 20 hours on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. If the iPhone 17 Pro Max gains an extra 300mAh in capacity, analysts believe we could see that number climb to 35 hours or more. Beyond battery life, a report in MacRumors suggested the iPhone 17 Pro Max (and its sibling, the iPhone 17 Pro) will be equipped with a trio of 48MP rear cameras and an upgraded 24MP front camera. Interestingly, no major differences in camera capabilities have been rumoured between the two models. Though Apple has yet to confirm anything, all signs point to the iPhone 17 Pro Max being the endurance champion of the lineup, with a bulkier design making room for a near-5,000mAh battery. That alone could make it the go-to choice for power users, even if other specs remain largely identical to the Pro version. With a launch expected in just a few months, the countdown to the newest iPhone has begun.

iPhone 17 Pro Max Battery Size Leaked: Apple's Biggest-Ever Upgrade Coming?
Last Updated: iPhone 17 Pro series launch is a few months from now and the new leak gives us more details about the possible battery packing inside the flagships. iPhone 17 Pro series is expected to get a wide range of upgrades this year and now reports have come out which talks about the iPhone 17 Pro Max battery size which could be Apple's biggest ever. Earlier this month we shared the details about the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max upgrades expected this year, and besides the design and camera improvements, the company is likely to bring some notable upgrades with the battery unit as well. iPhone 17 Pro Max Battery Size Revealed The latest iPhone 17 Pro model launching this year will carry a 5,000mAh battery, as highlighted in a Weibo post by tipster Instant Digital. Last year's iPhone 16 Pro Max carried a 4,670mAh battery and the 17 Pro Max model does get the marginal upgrade, Apple will have finally moved up the ladder. Going by these leaks, it seems Apple is going to ditch its focus on making the iPhone 17 Pro models slim which could have a big impact on the size of the battery packing inside these devices. Now we can't say for certain about these figures, and Apple does its best to keep them a secret but we are hoping the mAh numbers mentioned by the tipster are true. But the more pertinent question would be, will Apple make the upgrade by offering support for faster charging speed also? Most reports have given us hints about that being possible but do we expect the company to bump up the range from 20-30W to over 50-60W in the space of one year, that seems unlikely. Apple will be offering the new Pro-level chipset for the iPhone 17 Pro series. Last year we got the A18 Pro version and now it is time to see the A19 Pro SoC powering the new Pro lineup for the company in 2025. The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models could come with 12GB RAM as the standard this year which should aid its levels and AI support further. Apple iPhone 17 series launch event is just a few months from now, and it is understandable that the hype and excitement is reaching a new level as the days close in. iPhone 17 Pro Max to feature the biggest battery ever? Fresh leak hints at major upgrades
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is without a doubt the most awaited smartphone right now. While several smartphone brands are leaning towards slimmer phones, Apple seems to be going the opposite way. A user named Instant Digital on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo has revealed some details about Apple's upcoming flagship device. Based on the latest leak, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could sport a 5,000mAh battery, which is bigger than the one on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, making it the biggest ever battery on an iPhone. This means Apple could opt for a bulky design for its top-of-the-line phone, prioritising what the users want the most – extended battery life. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is likely to have a thickness of 8.725 mm, up from 8.25 mm on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Although the size difference may seem minute, the increased thickness might allow Apple to pack in a much bigger battery. Reportedly, the new device will also offer battery life of up to 35 hours. This can also be attributed to the A19 Pro chip's efficiency gains, which means that the iPhone 17 Pro could last longer than the current Pro Max model. The iPhone 17 Pro is anticipated to have the same size as its predecessors, which means the upcoming phone may have the same battery capacity as the current gen model. Moreover, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are likely to have 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch OLED panels, which is the same size as their predecessors. Regarding the Pro models, Apple may be considering switching from titanium to aluminium in order to increase durability. According to reports, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max would include a horizontally aligned camera island that spans the width of the phone. It is anticipated that other models in the series will also adopt the redesigned camera island.
