Between the Ioniq 5, 6, and 9 models, the South Korean automaker has something for families of all sizes. Additionally, the brand has been working on developing more performance-oriented models. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has garnered plenty of attention due to its impressive specs. It has racetrack capability, according to Hyundai. Now, the automaker is preparing to debut an even more ambitious project: a high-performance electric sedan. Hyundai readies its first-ever high-performance electric sedan for debut The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N will "disrupt the high-performance EV segment to deliver exciting driving experiences" said Joon Park, Vice President and Head of Hyundai's N Management Group. The company aims to build on the momentum created by the shock and awe of the Ioniq 5 N's incredible performance. Though Hyundai is keeping plenty of details regarding the new electric vehicle under wraps, there are several clues about its performance and appearance that auto enthusiasts can derive from the Ioniq 5 N. What to expect from the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N starts at $66,200. It produces a whopping 641 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. The high-performance EV accelerates from 0-60 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds according to testing by MotorTrend. The Ioniq 6 N will boast impressive performance specs, taking cues from its larger cousin, the Ioniq 5 N. Furthermore, the 6 N will be a lighter vehicle as a sedan, so it could be quicker than the larger Ioniq 5 N SUV. Expect the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N to feature a bold exterior styling with N-badging and performance parts including tires and brakes. The Ioniq 6 N is also likely to have a significantly higher starting price than the base model. Hyundai's 2025 Ioniq 6 electric sedan starts at $37,850 and tops out at $51,100 for the Limited final configuration. The 2025 Ioniq 5 Limited costs $54,300 compared to the Ioniq 5 N's $66,200-sticker price. If there is a similar price difference of $11,900 between Limited and N trims for the Ioniq 6, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N could cost around $63,000, making it slightly more affordable than the larger Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. A starting price north of $60K is hardly considered affordable to the average driver, even compared to rising new car prices (nearly $50,000 according to CNBC). That said, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N is anything but average. What the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N means for the electric vehicle space Hyundai's upcoming high-performance EV is more than just a niche performance trim to fill a gap in the company's portfolio, it's a statement. Hyundai is proving that it can produce more than just practical all-around electric vehicles like the base Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 models. Hyundai has released teaser images of its Ioniq 6 N, another electric performance car. Following the acclaim heaped upon the Ioniq 5 N, the 6 N promises to redefine the N driving experience. This time Hyundai is prepping a high-performance electric saloon. The images of the Ioniq 6 N reveal the familiar streamliner sedan body. It has been further developed for high-speed stability through extensive aerodynamic experimentation. Flared fenders, a wider stance, lightweight wheels and a large wing spoiler set the 6 N apart from the existing Ioniq 6 models. The focus here is on aerodynamic efficiency and dynamic capability. Hyundai says the 6 N embodies the N division's three primary pillars. Those would be cornering competence. racetrack compatibility and everyday sports car. The company has also released new images of the hot saloon, showing its twin rear spoilers and a chunky diffuser influenced by the one fitted to the extreme RN22e concept car . Although not fully shown, the front end of the new Ioniq 6 N draws on the sporty new N Line variant of the standard Ioniq 6, which was updated earlier this year. The changes are intended to 'maintain aerodynamic performance while achieving a smoother, more refined silhouette', said Hyundai. The upcoming high-performance electric sedan was hinted at earlier this year, and it builds on the success of the Ioniq 5 N, which was launched two years ago. Hyundai is aiming to expand its N portfolio of high-performance variants with the Ioniq 6 N being the latest entry on the list. While the teaser images do not reveal much, they do show off the electric sedan's silhouette, rear wing, and taillights, among other details. The Ioniq 6 N carries over the design changes made with the MY26 Ioniq 6, comprising an aerodynamically streamlined design with a sharp bonnet and sleek LED DRLs. It features flared-out fenders, which bring a much wider stance, and gets new lightweight wheels. The rear end features a ducktail spoiler and a large wing, designed through numerous tests for aerodynamic efficiency. Although the car does not seem to have a connected taillamp, it will feature a dotted line of smaller pixels arranged horizontally across the boot lid. Hyundai Ioniq 6 N: Technical details The Ioniq 6 N will likely be built on the same E-GMP platform as the Ioniq 5 N and will share its 641 bhp electric powertrain. Hyundai says the Ioniq 6 N embodies three core performance pillars, which are 'Corner Rascal', 'Racetrack Capability', and 'Everyday Sportscar'. To this end, the electric sedan is not expected to fall short of expectations. While there are no available details regarding the specifications, the Ioniq 6 N is expected to carry over the same 641 bhp AWD electric powertrain that underpins the Ioniq 5 N. The Ioniq 5 N is built on the E-GMP (Electrified-Global Modular Platform) that also underpins the Ioniq 6 and Kia EV6. It brings a dual-motor setup, with the front electric motor putting out 222 bhp and the rear delivering 377 bhp. With this, the Ioniq 5 N can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 3.4 seconds, topping out at a speed of 260 kmph. It is propelled by an 84 kWh battery pack, enabling a single-charge driving range of 355 km. The Ioniq 6 N will most likely be built on the same platform and is expected to feature similar specifications, if not identical. Hyundai will officially debut the Ioniq 6 N at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2025.
