The Newest Koenigsegg Turns The Jesko Into a Track Beast: Here's What Changed

Sadair's Spear may be a dressed-up Jesko, but the details make all the difference The newest Koenigsegg model, dubbed Sadair's Spear, is actually heavily based on an existing model: the Jesko. Specifically, the Jesko Attack, the most all-out version of the car. Looking at the two side by side, the differences might not immediately jump out and grab you, but rest assured, there are plenty of subtle and not-so-subtle tweaks. In pursuit of quicker lap times and an even more uncompromising representation of performance, Christian von Koenigsegg has turned the former leader of Ghost Squadron into an even more impressive machine. Here's everything the mad Swede did to build the Jesko's logical — and peerless — evolution. Previous Pause Next Unmute 0:00 / 0:09 Full screen 2024 Kia EV6 GT-Line review: Is this the EV that will convert you? Watch More Dress for the occasion; the Sadair's Spear dons more appropriate exterior details In the front, the Sadair's Spear expands on the Jesko's carbon aero bits but stays close to the original design. The front flicks are more prominent, and the wheel arch louvres are redesigned, looking just a little bit more aggressive. Behind the driver, there are small tweaks to the Jesko's trademark double-blade rear wing, a high-mounted third brake light, and a new undertray design. The rear bumper is also different, now better showcasing the car's cooling system. According to Koenigsegg, the Sadair's Spear offers improved oil cooling capabilities for longer stints on the track in high-temp conditions, and the carbon fiber diffuser now wraps all the way around the rear bumper. Across the side, near the rear air intakes, spear-shaped elements commemorate the car's namesake. Finally, those seven-spoke carbon fiber wheels are unique to the Sadair's Spear. An interior befitting a $5 million price tag While the changes on the outside are important, but maybe not immediately obvious, the interior keeps things even more subtle. Most obvious are the racing seats with optional six-point harnesses and removal of the gear lever. That latter change means using paddle shifters is the only way to pilot the Spear. Past that, we kind of have to take Koenigsegg's word for it. They say Sadair's Spear features a 'bespoke interior styling' that is completely unique to the car. You won't have to look as hard to find performance improvements, though. Koenigsegg modified the car's air intakes to gain 20 horsepower or 25 horsepower, depending on the fuel used. The biggest gains are only possible with E85. The automaker fitted wider tires and retuned the suspension for even better on-track handling. In fact, at least in photos, the Sadair's Spear seems to sit noticeably lower to the ground than the Jesko. Finally, they've given the car's carbon ceramic brakes better pads for quicker and later braking. Autoblog Newsletter Autoblog brings you car news; expert reviews and exciting pictures and video. Final thoughts We weren't on the short list for the Sadair's Spear, and since all 30 of them are already sold, we're guessing buyers were impressed enough with the changes to open their wallets. But apart from the very noticeable differences in the rear bumper, it really would take an eagle eye to distinguish the Sadair's Spear from the Jesko. With up to 1,625 horsepower on tap when using E85 fuel and a 35 kg (77 pounds) cut from the Jesko, it's clear the Sadair's Spear will be the better performer in almost any metric. Rimac Nevera R Steals Back Impossible Koenigsegg Speed Record

Rimac has set multiple new performance records with its Nevera R electric hypercar, adding another chapter to the speed war between Rimac and Koenigsegg. An even more potent version of the normal Nevera (which itself set a string of speed records back in 2023), the new Nevera R has retaken the crown for the challenging 0-400-0 km/h run from Koenigsegg - that's zero to 249 mph and back to zero again. The Nevera R's new time is 25.79 seconds, 2.04 seconds quicker than the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut managed last year. Of course, that's not all the Nevera R managed to achieve, as it toppled many of the normal Nevera's accomplishments. It takes a few minutes to fully digest the scope of the Nevera R's achievements, as the numbers seem scarcely believable. We'll start with the new 0-60 mph time, as that's the easiest reference point most of us have to a normal car. These days, anything under three seconds is enough to rearrange the contents of your stomach. Well, the Nevera R accomplished the run in just 1.66 seconds, beating the normal Nevera's 1.74-second time. As the speeds rose, the Nevera R continued to thrive. The 0-100 mph sprint took 2.96 seconds, the quarter-mile took 7.9 seconds, and the 0-200 mph run took 9.25 seconds. A top speed of 268.2 mph adds to the list of staggering achievements; this was a new record for EVs, which are at a distinct disadvantage at very high speeds. "When we first introduced Nevera it almost seemed like the pinnacle of hypercar performance had been reached," said Mate Rimac, founder and president of the Rimac Group. "In a single generation, we had created a performance jump that previously would have taken decades. But now, through relentless innovation, Nevera R goes even faster, while still maintaining much of the comfort and practicality that makes the Nevera a real, usable daily car. Breaking records is in our DNA, and we won't stop here." Producing 2,078 horsepower from four electric motors, the Nevera R is one of the most powerful cars on earth. Combined with optimized aerodynamics and less weight, it's little wonder that it has achieved a brace of new speed records. Being able to beat the Jesko Absolut in the 0-279-0 mph run is especially noteworthy, but let's not discount Koenigsegg's staggering achievements with the Jesko Absolut, the king of gas-powered hypercars. Running on E85 gas, the Jesko's 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 (with the world's lightest V8 crankshaft) produces 1,600 hp. It has an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.278 Cd and the Light Speed Transmission can execute incredibly fast shifts. That the Jesko gets so close to the electric Nevera R should not be underestimated. It remains to be seen if Koenigsegg can possibly engineer its car to a point that it can steal back the 0-279-0 record from Rimac, but that's a tall order the Jesko Absolut, a car that already pushes the limits of what's possible with internal combustion. Koenigsegg Has Run Out Of Cars To Sell

When the Jesko twins were offered to customers, Koenigsegg made an already exclusive hypercar even more special by forcing buyers to choose between the Attack and the Absolut. You couldn't order both. So when Christian decided to celebrate and effectively send off the Jesko with one last hurrah in the Sadair's Spear, it was no surprise to learn that all 30 units were sold out long before the general public even knew of its existence. But according to company founder and CEO Christian von Koenigsegg, who spoke with Top Gear, absolutely everything you've ever seen with a Koenigsegg badge is sold out: "All our models are presently sold out, we have nothing to sell, which is kind of good, but also annoying because it's fun to interact and supply enthusiasts with their dreams come true." So what's next? "We would love to have more, but we will introduce something new in one, one and a half years, then we'll open up the order books again," Christian continued. "The something new we are working on - and we have several projects - are very limited runs, which means they all need to be different, and they all need to have meaning." As a company always on the cutting edge of innovation, it makes sense for Koenigsegg to keep volumes low and technologies new, but even then, one's fingers can be burned. The Gemera was announced in 2020, just as the world went into lockdown, and at the time, it was meant to feature an innovative hybrid system that would see a 2.0-liter three-cylinder engine with camless Freevalve technology paired with two turbos, a dry sump, and a trio of electric motors. All of this was because a V8 couldn't fit. But by the time 2023 arrived, Koenigsegg had found a way to cram a V8 engine in the Gemera anyway, and in 2024, the three-cylinder option was canceled due to a low take rate. Finally, in November last year, it was reported that the Gemera was sold out. That arc suggests that Koenigsegg couldn't sell a small hybrid, even one as impressive as that. The Gemera needed a big V8. Related: Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Gallery: The Craziest Koenigsegg In Pictures As Christian von Koenigsegg has indicated on numerous occasions, there simply isn't much "appetite" for hyper EVs. Thus, it's entirely possible that Koenigsegg might use its Dark Matter e-motor to give a combustion-powered Jesko replacement even more power and traction, but electricity will never be the sole source of propulsion. Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac has even suggested that the Nevera's successor might not be all-electric, and that's arguably the most incredible EV on the planet. "After a while, you want to feel something, you want to talk to the beast, you want to have a dialog," von Koenigsegg told TG. "You want the throbbing, the pumping, the heat, the sounds, the shifts, all of these aspects that just make a car come alive." With the CC850 showing that a hypercar can be both relaxing and engaging in the transmission department, and the Sadair's Spear once again highlighting that tire technology is holding the world's hypercar manufacturers back to some degree, guessing what comes next is all but impossible. But we know it'll be good. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Koenigsegg's Entire Lineup Sold Out for Years Amid Surging Demand

Read the full story on Modern Car Collector If scarcity breeds desire, then Koenigsegg has become the ultimate object of automotive obsession. The Swedish hypercar manufacturer, led by founder Christian von Koenigsegg, has officially sold out every one of its current and upcoming production models—years in advance, according to From the extreme Jesko to the futuristic four-seat Gemera, and even the freshly unveiled track-focused Sadair's Spear, every car Koenigsegg builds is now fully spoken for. 'We're sold out of everything. It's a good problem to have,' Koenigsegg said in a recent interview, reflecting on the brand's unprecedented demand. The Jesko, offered in two variants—the downforce-heavy Attack and the slippery Absolut—was capped at 125 units. All were claimed shortly after the model's debut. The retro-styled CC850, initially limited to 50 units, was expanded to 70 following overwhelming interest—and those too have been long gone. Even the 2,300-horsepower Gemera, Koenigsegg's most versatile model and its first four-seater, is considered a 'mass production' effort by the company's standards with 300 units. But every single one is now reserved. The most recent model to sell out is the Sadair's Spear, an ultra-limited, track-focused machine revealed just days ago. Only 30 units will be built, and not a single one remains available. In true Koenigsegg fashion, customers committed before even seeing the car. The company's production strategy has always emphasized exclusivity, innovation, and craftsmanship—values that clearly continue to resonate. With delivery slots stretching years into the future, Koenigsegg remains a dream pursued by many but attained by few. As von Koenigsegg puts it, 'We never build cars just to fill quotas. We build them to push boundaries—and apparently, people want to come along for the ride.' Follow us on Facebook and Twitter
