Leicester City ‘face starting Championship season with TWELVE-point deduction after alleged £17m in PSR breaches'

LEICESTER CITY are facing a huge points deduction for next season if found guilty of breaching PSR rules. The Foxes were relegated back to the Championship last month following a dismal Premier League campaign. 1 And they could begin the 2024/25 season in the second tier playing catch-up. The Premier League issued charges last week alleging a PSR breach of over £17million across a three-year period. According to the iPaper, Leicester could be hit with a MINIMUM 12-POINT penalty if found guilty. EFL guidelines state that 12 points should be docked for a PSR breach. Deductions are then applied on a sliding scale if the breach is less than £15m. The Prem are reportedly set to argue Leicester be docked more points after failing to submit their accounts on time last December. A spokesperson said earlier this month: "Following an Arbitration Tribunal's decision concerning jurisdiction, Leicester City FC has now been referred to an independent Commission for alleged breaches." "The EFL Championship Profit and Sustainability Rules (P&S Rules) for Season 2023/24. "The club's obligation to provide its Annual Accounts to the Premier League by 31 December 2024. "And the club's obligation to provide full, complete and prompt assistance to the Premier League in response to the League's inquiries." Both the Premier League and Leicester declined to comment to the outlet. Leicester have announced 11 players are leaving the King Power this summer. Danny Ward, Daniel Iversen and club legend Jamie Vardy are all among those released following the expiry of their respective contracts. Vardy, 38, has been linked with a shock free transfer to Newcastle. The former England striker spent 13 years at Leicester, scoring 200 goals in 500 games. Vardy scored nine Prem goals and provided four assists this season. Since announcing his departure from the club, he has also been linked with Crystal Palace, Wolves and Wrexham.

Leicester 2 Ipswich 0: Jamie Vardy scores 200th goal on 500th appearance exactly 13 years after joining Foxes

WHERE do you want your statue Jamie Vardy? That's the only unfinished bit of business this living legend has left to complete after bringing down the curtain on his extraordinary 13-year love affair with Leicester City. 5 5 Fittingly the 38-year-old bowed out brilliantly, scoring his 200th Leicester City goal on his 500th appearance - 13 years to the day since he signed from Fleetwood Town. Talk about tying it all up neatly with a blue ribbon! Vardy had already missed a couple of half-chances when James Justin burst through the Ipswich defence and timed his final pass to perfection. Suddenly Vardy was off and we all knew what was going to happen next - hand him a hat-trick of chances and one will invariably end up in the net. There was never any chance the old Fox was going to fluff his lines on his big day. Sure enough, he rolled the ball beyond Alex Palmer to spark bedlam in the stands as the King Power rose to him for one final goal celebration. They were celebrating again midway through the second half when Kasey McAteer doubled the Foxes lead. Then with 10 minutes remaining Ruud Van Nistelrooy made a double substitution which included bringing Vardy off for Patson Daka. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK With the sound of the crowd singing his name, Vardy trudged off and every Leicester player lined up level with the halfway line to form a guard of honour. "Thank You Vards," flashed up on the scoreboards as the veteran took his well-earned seat on the bench. Job done …. as always! From the moment he arrived to that fateful moment when he waved goodbye and disappeared down the tunnel for the final time as a Fox, this was the Jamie Vardy show. Virtually every fan's shirt had the name Vardy 9 or Legend 9 emblazoned on their back. There were banners with Vardy's name and image waved by dozens of flag-bearers to greet him when he led Leicester out. The scoreboard flashed up "Goodbye GOAT." And every home fan had been presented with a banner with the message: "Thank You Vards," printed on it. However Kieran McKenna's Ipswich clearly hadn't received the memo and came out determined to spoil the farewell party. Unfortunately for them they simply don't possess a finisher of Vardy's stature. They dominated the opening 20 minutes and the old boy had to wait patiently for his first touch 5 Julio Enciso sent Leif Davis free on the left and, although the full-back's initial shot was blocked by Coady, his attempt from the rebound was much better. His fiercely hit shot beat Jakub Stolarczyk but bounced off the inside of the post and flew to safety. Sam Morsy shot over and Enciso screwed another attempt wide before the roof was raised after 20 minutes when Vardy finally had the chance to stretch his legs. Jordan Ayew sent the veteran sprinting through on goal and suddenly everyone in the King Power Stadium was on their feet roaring him on. However on this occasion Leif Davis was Vardy's match as he sprinted back to force him wide and the striker's shot flew off target. The great man followed that up a couple of minutes later, firing into the side netting following a neatly worked free kick after he turned Sam Morsy. Vardy was getting closer and closer as he smelled blood. 5 And sure enough the fairytale was assured a happy ending when he struck after 28 minutes. James Justin played a huge part with the assist. The full-back closed down Jack Clarke so swiftly he lost his footing and Justin pounced on the ball and surged forward past two Tractor Boys. Vardy hared off and Justin timed his delivery to perfection as he rolled the ball in front of him. And the hitman showed his killer instinct to hold off his marker and expertly roll the ball beyond Palmer and into the net. Then off he hared to celebrate in front of the dumbstruck Ipswich fans, lifting the corner flag out of its socket and raising it aloft high above his head - like a conquering warrior. It was the only sign the 38-year-old had shown of flagging on his big day! And it's going to be intriguing to see if some manager gives him his wish to spend another year in the Prem next season. On this season's form he is worth another fling, after he finished the season as the Foxes top scorer with 10 goals in a struggling, relegated team. Leicester's other goal came from Kasey McAteer who took a Wilfred Ndidi pass in his path to lash the ball in at Alex Palmer's near post. Ndid was also taken off near the end to take the acclaim of the fans on his final appearance for the Foxes. He did his bit, setting up 23-year-old McAteer for his first ever Premier League goal. The winger only needs another 144 to match Vardy's Premier League tally! Good luck with that one mate. Match Stats

Rusk on Fernandes, dignity and Man City

Southampton interim boss Simon Rusk has been speaking to the media before Saturday's Premier League game against Manchester City (kick-off 15:00 BST).Here are the key lines from his news conference:Rusk hopes to have everyone available for the game and said his squad has a "fairly clean bill of health".On Mateus Fernandes' availability after he was substituted against Leicester City: "He's recovered from last week [against Leicester] and he's trained well this week and hopefully he can put a good performance in for us on Saturday."Asked about the defeat at King Power, Rusk said "it was a sore one" but that he wanted his side to "lick their wounds and get ready for the next one".On whether there will be changes to his team: "When you get a bad result like that, there's a lot of work that feels undone and so we have to do the work again. We can't be victims and feel sorry for ourselves. My message to the players was that all we can do is take care of our actions. There are lots of reasons as to why you arrive at a starting XI but what I did say to the players was: 'Be at it'."Rusk said that he wants to "finish the season on a high and build momentum": "[It's a chance] to end the season with as much dignity as possible."On Manchester City: "What we are facing is the greatest team and greatest manager for nine or 10 years now. By their standards, they'll be disappointed that they haven't been in and around the title but when you look at their capabilities, you know we are going to be added that: "It's important we don't move in to fear territory in these games and instead we put our best foot forward."Follow all of the day's football news on our dedicated live pageFull commentary of Southampton v Manchester City from 15:00 BST on BBC Radio 5 Live on Saturday

'We have no idea what is going on... tell us'

Dear Top,Let met start by saying as a fan I am, and always will be grateful for what King Power, your late father, you and your family have done for my football club. You have allowed me to fulfil dreams that I never thought as a Leicester City fan I ever business, though, has its peaks and troughs, and as a 64-year-old fan, believe you me, I have seen plenty of troughs. But it is how troughs are dealt with that businesses are judged by, and these days football clubs are I have to say most businesses do not hold onto staff once that business starts to fail, no matter how successful they may have been in the past. Top, you really need to take charge and make changes or you risk ruining your family's legacy at the you cleared a lot of debt for our club, but this is debt that was accrued under King Power ownership. A tally of 11 managers in 15 years of ownership speaks has been your chasing of Graham Potter, followed by what seemed a rushed appointment of Steve Cooper, the early sacking of Cooper - an appointment you publicly criticised - and the failure to act in sticking by Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has to be the worst manager in the clubs are Susan Whelan, John Rudkin, Martyn Glover et al still at the club? Yes they have helped you through some dark times but as a group of managers it appears you don't know what you're doing.I am sorry Top, but a free bottle of beer at the final home game this season will not cut fans are the lifeblood of any club, and our relationship is being up and talk to the fans. We have no idea what is going on. Tell more from Chris Forryan at Leicester Till I Die, external

Ruud van Nistelrooy delivers update on his future after Leicester's Premier League relegation following nightmare run of 16 losses in 18 games

Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has admitted he is still uncertain whether he will keep his job following the club's relegation to the Championship. The Foxes, who have picked up just 18 points from 33 games, had their relegation confirmed with five matches remaining after their 1-0 home loss to Liverpool last weekend. Van Nistelrooy, 48, was appointed Leicester boss in December following the sacking of Steve Cooper after just 157 days in charge but failed to prevent an immediate return to the second tier. The Dutchman earned a mere eight points from 20 league matches, while his side haven't scored in nine home league games, the worst run in top-flight history. Van Nistelrooy said he has spoken with Leicester's owners and the board about 'how we move forward as a club'. 'I know what my plan is to bring the club back but I am waiting on alignment,' he said. 'The quicker the better for the football club.' Although it was hoped that the former Manchester United star could spark an upturn in form for the East Midlands outfit, he has overseen a run of 16 defeats in their past 18 league matches. Now they must dust themselves off to focus on another push to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, as they did under Enzo Maresca last campaign before he was snapped up by Chelsea. On Sunday, a light aeroplane flew close over the King Power Stadium in a protest against the club's ownership, with the banner: 'King Power Clueless. Sack The Board.' Director of football Jon Rudkin has been targeted by supporter chants throughout the campaign. Rudkin is a trusted ally of Leicester and chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha but finds himself in the spotlight for the club's mixed transfer record in recent times. Srivaddhanaprabha is also the chairman of Thai travel group King Power, the sponsor and namesake for Leicester's home ground. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his job, van Nistelrooy believes Leicester should build their promotion campaign around homegrown players next season. Meanwhile, 38-year-old club legend Jamie Vardy will leave the club at the end of the season, closing the door on one of English football's fairytales. It comes days after Vardy took to social media to express his 'anger and sadness' at a season he called a 'total embarrassment' and a 's***show'. Although he turns 39 in January, he does not plan to call it a day and has expressed confidence in the past that he can continue playing beyond his 40th birthday. Confirming the news of his exit, Vardy – who also won 26 caps for England – said: 'To the fans of Leicester: gutted this day is coming, but I knew it was going to come eventually. 'It has been 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success, some downs, but the majority all highs. It's finally time to call it a day, which I'm devastated about but I think the timing is right. 'I just want to sincerely thank you all for taking you in as one of your own. Leicester will always have a massive place in my heart and I'll make sure I'll be following in the years to come in what I hope will be even more success for the club. 'As for now, this is my goodbye, but you will see me again soon I promise. Thank you.'
