Spider-Man team arrives in UK city to film 'after being forced to change location'

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to be released next year and filming, featuring the likes of Zendaya, will reportedly be underway in Glasgow from tomorrow The upcoming Spider-Man sequel is reportedly set to begin filming in the UK later this week. The likes of Tom Holland and co-star Zendaya expected to be on location for the production, which has seen a city transformed into another. ‌ Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is a sequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), is due to be released on July 31 next year. It will mark the fourth solo film starring Tom, 29, as Peter Parker, who goes by the titular superhero name. ‌ It was previously announced that Glasgow would be used as a location for the film. It's now been reported that filming will begin in the city, which will appear as New York, later this week. The news comes amid the Devil Wears Prada sequel having begun filming in the actual New York City. ‌ READ MORE: Harry Potter films ranked from best to worst including 'greatest masterpiece' Photos of Glasgow show the city having been transformed into New York City for the production. It includes flags, roadworks and street signs having been introduced, as well as international vehicles being spotted in the area too. The Sun reports that it was originally due to be filmed in Liverpool. It however claims that it was later decided to relocate the production after the Liverpool FC victory parade crash in May that left more than 100 people injured. ‌ A source told the outlet that production has "started," adding: "It's really exciting for film fans living in Glasgow as they will see their city in the next movie." They said that it's "uncanny" how much the city now looks like the Big Apple. The source went on to say: "Originally the plan was to film a lot of it in Liverpool but after the crash, they changed the plans." They added: "There were discussions about whether it was appropriate to stage big stunts, including car chases and explosions, in light of the awful incident." According to the Herald, filming on Spider-Man: Brand New Day is due to begin in the city tomorrow. It reports that a number of roads in Glasgow are due to be closed off to accommodate the production between August 1 and 16. ‌ Tom previously confirmed that Glasgow would be used for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He also shared her excitement over getting to film on location again, after having worked exclusively on soundstages for the last Spider-Man film. In an interview for news outlet Flip Your Wig, shared on Instagram earlier this month, Tom said: "We were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID." He said that the "entire" film had been shot on stages. He said: "Now, we're really gonna lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations - which is why we're starting in Glasgow. We're gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we're putting together." Tom is set to lead the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside his fiancée Zendaya, who plays Michelle Jones-Watson, known as MJ, in the franchise. Jacob Batalon is also expected to reprise his role as Ned Leeds in the film.

Liverpool would never hesitate to sign someone if given the chance

Despite having spent close to £300million already this summer, the Reds continue to be linked with Newcastle striker Alexander Isak in what would be a British transfer record deal. While the club have held an interest in the Sweden international for some time, there has been no approach but Isak's decision to absent himself from Newcastle's pre-season trip to South Korea has only increased speculation about a potential switch to Anfield. There has been a considerable turnover this summer with senior players Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz departing, in addition to second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarell Quansah, Nat Phillips and Darwin Nunez – and Federico Chiesa expected to leave before the end of the window. The response has been to spend a club-record fee on Florian Wirtz, while also bringing in his Bayer Leverkusen team-mate Jeremie Frimpong, Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike, Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez and goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. But Slot said the spending may not stop there. 'I always say, another thing about Liverpool is that if we see a chance in the market, we never hesitate to bring someone in,' he told reporters before departing Japan at the end of their trip to the Far East. 'In the end it's about quality and we have already made some very good signings. In terms of quality, we are already in the right place.' Top of that quality list is Wirtz, one of Europe's hottest prospects at just 22. Flo's goal 🤩⚽️ — Liverpool FC (@LFC) July 30, 2025 Liverpool beat Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to his signature and were prepared to agree to a record £116m deal because of what he offers currently and the potential for growth. 'We don't just think, 'Let's bring a midfielder in'. This is a long-term project for the club,' Slot added. 'It's the way this club has worked over several years: targeting a specific player who we think can strengthen the squad and can bring us quality. Then we try to bring him in. 'I think this club has always worked like this. We do spend, but if we spend, then we always need to recoup some money. 'It's what we already started last summer when we only brought in Federico Chiesa, but we sold three or four players, which meant a big profit. 'So if you balance things out, we've spent, for sure, but we've also recouped money.' For all the money spent so far, the player who made the biggest impression in matches in Hong Kong and Tokyo was Rio Ngumoha, a 16-year-old who only joined the club last summer from Chelsea but has already made a rapid rise through the youth ranks. Love it, Rio ✨ — Liverpool FC (@LFC) July 30, 2025 He scored a fine solo goal in the 3-1 win over Yokohama F Marinos but also impressed against AC Milan before that and is already being talked about a viable first-team option to play on the left following the departure of Diaz. 'I'm not trying to rush because I'm still only young,' he told the club's website. 'But at the same time, I just want to show the manager what I can do and not get too complacent. I just want to do bigger and better things for me and the club.'

Cast announced for Conor McPherson's adaption of The Hunger Games for London stage

THE cast has been announced for the stage production of The Hunger Games. Adapted by Dubliner Conor McPherson, the much-anticipated production is set to open at the Troubadour Theatre in London's Canary Wharf in October. McPherson has adapted Suzanne Collins's first book for the stage production, which is directed by Matthew Dunster. Mia Carragher has been announced in the leading role of Katniss Everdeen. The daughter of former Liverpool FC footballer Jamie Carragher said she is 'excited and honoured' to play the role. Mia Carraghar will play Katniss In The Hunger Games on Stage (Pic: Seamus Ryan) 'This is a dream come true role, and I cannot wait to see the production come to life,' she explained. 'From being a huge fan of the films, I feel so lucky to be a part of the Hunger Games world, especially working with Matthew Dunster and an incredible creative team." Director Dunster said: 'We searched far and wide, and comprehensively, for our Katniss. 'It is not easy to step into Suzanne Collins's amazing creation and only one actor combined Katniss's charisma and combat skills - her quiet, tough determination and her brilliant creativity, athleticism, and humour,' he added. 'We've found our Katniss in Mia Carragher, and we can't wait for audiences to see her.' The show opens on October 20, at the Troubadour -a purpose-built, theatre-in-the-round venue, which has been designed especially to host the production. Tickets for The Hunger Games: On Stage can be booked here.
