Belen church celebrating 232 years with a weekend fiesta

BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) – The Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church is getting ready to celebrate 232 years of being open. They are celebrating with a fiesta August 15 – 17 at the church grounds. What is the Farmers' Almanac predicting for the 2025-26 winter season in New Mexico? The fiesta is one of the oldest in the state and is stacked each day with activities and entertainment. The fiesta includes a carnival with different booths and classic carnival fun taking place throughout the weekend. The weekend includes live music from a number of different bands. Saturday at 10 a.m. is the fiesta parade on Main Street. There is also a car show, live auction and more for the community to enjoy. Smoke rising above Main Street Palmerston North. Photo: Supplied Firefighters are battling a house fire in central Palmerston North. The blaze was reported at 3:53pm Sunday and the Main Street house was "well involved" in flames, when crews arrived, a Fire and Emergency spokesperson said. A third crew have been called in. Initially, two nearby houses were reportedly on fire, but firefighters investigating the second house found it was not on fire but and smoke there was caused by a pot on the stove. Manayunk Restaurant Week returns to Philadelphia neighborhood after 5 years

Twenty restaurants in Manayunk are taking part in the return of Manayunk Restaurant Week, back after a five-year break, business owners say. Restaurants all along Main Street featuring a range of cuisine from Thai and Mediterranean to tacos and pizza will be offering deals from Monday, Sept. 8, through Sunday, Sept. 14. These eateries will have special fixed-price two- or three-course menus at prices of $15, $25, $35 and $45 for lunch, dinner or both.
