Apple iPhone 17 Pro: Radical New Design Claimed In New Report
A new report claims that the materials which will be used in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max (thought to go on sale on Friday, Sept. 19 — read full details of the release schedule here) are going to change significantly from what's in the iPhone 16 Pro right now. There has been persistent talk of a switch from a titanium chassis (which is what the Pro iPhones currently have) to aluminum. The latest leak suggests that an aluminum chassis will be used, and an aluminum backplate, but for a cut-out of glass. Vadim Yuryev, host of the Max Tech YouTube channel has posted on X that explains, 'ass, including a leaked photo of a REAL milled aluminum chassis from @MajinBuOfficial that many people missed,' as he puts it. The post shows what claims to be an iPhone 17 chassis made of metal, with the surrounds for the iPhone's cameras and the camera panel itself made of metal, not glass. If true, and the jury's still out on that, it would be a radical design change. It's been years since the iPhone has had a metal back, favoring glass not least because it makes wireless charging possible. The cut-out on the back would be to allow a glass section, so this form of charging can still happen. Well, it's possible, I guess. Google had a similar system for a recent Pixel phone, (the Pixel 8a) which had a composite material over the metal frame, again to allow wireless charging through a cut-out. And aluminum could allow a lightweight way to build strength into the chassis. Even so, I'll confess that I'm skeptical. Still, Tim Hardwick at MacRumros has a good point: 'Aluminum is roughly 40% lighter than titanium at similar volumes, so we could see the iPhone 17 Pro models carrying less weight. Aluminum is also a far better thermal conductor than titanium, so heat generated by the A19 Pro chip and battery may dissipate faster. Apple is also rumored to be using a new internal design that incorporates a vapor chamber heatsink to improve thermal performance,' he says. More details as they emerge.

iPhone 17 Pro shown in multiple colors in new video
Earlier today, an iPhone 17 Pro was seemingly spotted in the wild, and now from another source comes a short video showing the upcoming smartphone in a bunch of different colors. Note that these are dummy units of the iPhone 17 Pro, not real units, but for all intents and purposes, the design should be identical - it's just that the dummies don't have any innards. What's your favorite iPhone 17 Pro color? — Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial) July 29, 2025 The iPhone 17 Pro will be unveiled alongside the rest of the iPhone 17 family in September, possibly the week commencing on September 8. The exact date could be the 8th itself, or the 9th, or the 10th, according to a past rumor. As you can see, the iPhone 17 Pro will feature a big redesign on its back, with a big camera island filling almost the entire width of the device, Poco-style circa two years ago. The cameras themselves will be in exactly the same spots as before, only now they're part of something bigger.

iPhone 17 Pro leak hints at Apple logo shift and major camera design overhaul
Apple is preparing to unveil its new iPhone 17 series, likely within the next two months. However, leaks and early reports have already given us an idea of what Apple might be planning this year. The upcoming lineup is expected to include four models: the iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Air, and the standard iPhone 17. A recent leak suggests that Apple may alter the position of the Apple logo on at least one model in the iPhone 17 lineup. Apple may shift the iPhone 17 Pro's logo position due to expected camera layout changes.(@MajinBuOfficial) Apple last altered the logo's position with the iPhone 11 series in 2019, when it shifted to the centre of the phone's back. Since then, the logo has stayed centred. However, a recent leak from Apple insider Majin Bu hints that the logo might move again for the iPhone 17 Pro model, 9t05Mac reported. According to Bu, the redesigned camera layout on the new model will require the logo to be repositioned lower on the back panel, potentially near the bottom centre below the camera bar. Also read: iPhone 17 Air likely to come with optional accessories for lasting battery life- Details New Camera Layout Expected Bu stated that a company producing cases for the iPhone 17 Pro confirmed they are preparing to manufacture cases accommodating the new logo placement. This suggests that Apple has finalised the design changes or is close to doing so. Alongside the logo shit, Bu shared images indicating the presence of a new full-length camera bar across the top portion of the device. While Apple has not confirmed these changes, the camera redesign appears likely based on multiple leaks and rumours. Also read: iPhone 17 Pro may not come with anti-reflective display coating as Samsung- Details This possible logo adjustment follows a series of leaks about the iPhone 17 Pro's rear design. The camera system is expected to be significantly updated for the first time since the introduction of the square-shaped camera module on the iPhone 11. Industry sources suggest the phone will keep three cameras aligned on the left side, but the flash and LiDAR sensor may shift to the right, which will create a wider camera layout. Although the logo repositioning has not been widely rumoured before, Apple's past design shifts support the possibility. For example, the iPhone X placed the Apple logo higher up on the back, with the 'iPhone' label positioned near the bottom. The iPhone 11 removed the 'iPhone' text and centred the logo as part of its redesign. Also read: Apple may launch sky blue colour option for iPhone 17 Pro in 2025: Report Bu also mentioned that the iPhone 17 Pro might feature a 'vapour chamber' cooling system to better manage heat, although he expressed uncertainty about this claim. The vapour chamber design is reportedly still in development, and the company is working through some technical challenges.

Apple iPhone 17 Air: From design to price, all we know about the Samsung Galaxy S25 competitor
Apple's 2025 smartphone lineup may look very different from its current offerings. In the last few months, numerous leaks and rumours have hinted that the tech giant will replace the iPhone 17 Plus with a new iPhone 17 Air, which may be the slimmest iPhone ever. And while nothing is certain at the moment, from battery to design, here's everything we know so far about the iPhone 17 Air. The iPhone 17 Air will look different from other models in the series, and thanks to tipsters sharing images of the iPhone 17 Air's dummies, we have an idea of what the slimmest iPhone may look like. As you can see in the X post below, the iPhone 17 Air ditches the vertical camera setup in favour of a huge horizontal, elliptical camera island. IPhone 17 Air, is it a revolution worth buying? — Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial) May 26, 2025 While some reports have hinted that the upcoming phone will be around 6mm thick, others have claimed that the device will be 5.5mm thick at its thinnest point. To give you a quick recap, the slimmest Apple product to date is the 2024 iPad Pro, which is just 5.1mm thick. The weight reduction may be attributed to Apple going with a lighter 7000 series aluminium frame that will weigh around 25 grams to 30 grams. This will make it lighter than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which sports a titanium frame. Other components that make up for the weight include the 35-gram OLED screen, a single 48MP camera that weighs 5 to 7 grams. The A19 and logic board, which is said to have a combined weight of 10 grams to 12 grams, a 35-gram battery and a 15-gram glass back. According to the tipster, the iPhone 17 Air will weigh 146 grams, but past reports have claimed that the device will have a weight of 145 grams or 150 grams. This means that the upcoming phone will weigh somewhere between 145 grams to 150 grams. The tipster goes on to claim that the iPhone 17 Air will have a Silicon Carbon battery to make it slimmer, and while the exact battery capacity is unclear, several rumours have hinted that it will be under 3,000mAh. Apple is also said to be offering a battery case for the phone, making the device less appealing. Earlier this year, a report suggested that Apple wanted the iPhone 17 Air to be the first portless iPhone, but it looks like, because of regulatory constraints (mostly from the European Union), the tech giant may be forced to include a USB-C port. Also, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to have the same buttons as the iPhone 16, meaning we will see a Camera Capture button and Action button alongside the standard power and volume buttons. On the display front, the iPhone 17 Air is said to pack a 6.6-inch to 6.7-inch ProMotion OLED screen. Taking a look at the iPhone 17 Air mockups, renders, and dummy units, it is highly likely that the upcoming phone will have a huge elliptical camera bar on the back that houses a single 48MP lens. As for the hardware, Apple is working on the A19 and the A19 Pro chips, but the iPhone 17 Air is said to feature the non-Pro variant. The device is also expected to come with 12GB of RAM. Apple is expected to increase the price of the iPhone 17 series, but it looks like the iPhone 17 Air may cost $899, which is the current price of the iPhone 16 Plus. This means that the slimmest iPhone will be more expensive than the vanilla iPhone 17 but cheaper than the Pro models.
