Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 in for review
Ivan, 12 July 2025 Hey there, Galaxy Z Flip7! Samsung's latest flip-foldable may fly under the radar that is the Galaxy Z Fold7, but we're willing to bet that this one is going to be more popular. Nothing's changed with the retail package - you get the phone, a SIM tool, and a USB-C cable. The Flip7 comes in two versions - 12/256GB and 12/512GB. You get a choice of Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red, and the online exclusive Mint. The biggest upgrade with this generation of Galaxy Z Flip is the cover screen. It now stretches from end to end to reach 4.1 inches - a big jump from 3.4 inches. Samsung shrunk the bezels and made the phone ever-so-slightly wider and taller to accommodate the new screen. Still, the Galaxy Z Flip7 measures 13.7mm closed, and 6.5mm when opened, compared to 14.9mm/6.9mm on its predecessor. The inner display also got a notable jump in size - from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches. It's noticeable. Back to the cover screen. It's smarter, too. By default, the Z Flip7's cover screen is like a big Galaxy Watch - you get widgets and not fully-featured apps. But you can force the phone to let you use all your apps on the screen - go to Samsung Labs, enable all apps on the cover screen, and then download a Galaxy Store app called MultiStar. Non-optimized apps don't use the entire cover screen, but it's worth it just to have them available! Still, Samsung lags behind Motorola in terms of cover screen functionality - The razr 60 Ultra can allow any app on its outer screen, no hacking needed! Anyway, we're trying our best to give you reviews of all the phones we have at the office but it will take some time! Kindly, be patient! Samsung Galaxy Unpacked: Foldables, flippables, but no tri-fold smartphone
Samsung went all out during its summer Galaxy Unpacked event in New York City. The theme was 'Foldables', with several hotly anticipated devices (the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE), a brand-new UI explicitly designed for foldable devices, an all-new Galaxy Watch 8 series (with a minor upgrade to the Galaxy Watch Ultra) lineup, and some new artificial intelligence (AI) updates. Unfortunately, Project Moohan and the heavily rumoured tri-fold smartphone (Galaxy G Fold as it might be called) were absent. There is an exciting update about the latter, though. Here's the lowdown on the Samsung Unpacked event that took place on a relatively hot day in New York City. I'll always take a mobile UI designed explicitly for folding smartphones. To that extent, Samsung is calling their latest One UI 8 update a 'next-generation interface designed specifically for foldables, optimized for AI and built on the principles of multimodal understanding and deep personalization'. There's a new AI-enhanced interface that allows you to move and resize pop-up windows wherever suits you best. Dragging and dropping is now child's play. For the 'flippers' out there, you can now get more done on the cover screen (a new intuitive interface to help you stay on top of your day) with an expanded display. Thinner and lighter, and playing catch-up to all the folding smartphones from Chinese manufacturers. That's the best way to sum up the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which now ships without an S Pen. The Z Fold 7 comes in at 4.2mm thick (when unfolded) and 8.9mm thick (when folded). The outer screen is larger, with a 6.5-inch display. On the inside, there is an 8-inch display. These are much larger than the ones on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 boasts the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The primary camera also receives a significant upgrade, now featuring a 200MP wide-angle sensor. There's also a 12MP ultrawide lens and a 10MP telephoto camera. It's also got a 4,400mAh battery and supports 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will retail for a starting price of ₹ 1,74,999 and comes in three colours—Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow and Jet Black. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 gets a larger 4.1-inch cover screen. The display extends beyond the two cameras, which is something Motorola has been doing for a while now. The inner display also receives an upgrade from 6.7 inches on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 to 6.9 inches on the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has also slimmed down. It now measures just 6.5mm thick when unfolded. The Samsung Exynos 2500 processor powers the smartphone, paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Surprisingly, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 features a larger 4,300mAh battery. There's a 50MP wide-angle lens, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 10MP front-facing camera, all of which are the same as on their predecessor. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a starting price of ₹ 1,09,999 and is available in Blue Shadow, Jet Black, and Coral Red colourways. If the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is a little bit out of your budget, then fret not, as Samsung has your back. The 'Fan Edition', a slightly pared-down variant, has been released. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE features a design similar to that of the Galaxy Z Flip 6. It features a 3.4-inch cover display that borders the camera, but does not extend beyond it. On the inside is a 6.7-inch inner display. There's 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage along with a 4,000mAh battery. The rear cameras are a 50MP wide-angle camera and a 12MP ultrawide lens, respectively. Even for the Watch 8 series, thin is in. These new smartwatches are smart, stylish, and undergo a complete makeover. The circle-square-case design of the Galaxy Watch Ultra has now been adopted by the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. The Galaxy Watch 8 is 11 percent thinner than the Galaxy Watch 7. The Galaxy Watch 8 is available in two sizes: 40mm and 44mm, and features a slightly larger battery. The smartwatches now sit flatter on your wrist for a more comfortable experience. Consumers and fans of Samsung were worried that there wouldn't be another Classic model of the smartwatch, but it's back! The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, along with the rotating bezel, is back with a bang. The clicks are oh so satisfying. The smartwatches now feature a new lug system used for swapping straps. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic comes with a Quick Button for programming shortcuts. The hardware updates, though, are very minor. The significant updates to these smartwatches, for what it's worth, are software-based. There's now a Running Coach, a new Bedtime Guidance feature, Vascular Load (for measuring stress levels), Google Gemini and Antioxidant Index. The latter features LED sensors upon which you stick your thumb. The algorithm then tells you whether you're eating enough fruits and veggies! The Galaxy Watch Ultra receives a second-generation successor, but the updates are minor. It has most of the same features as its predecessor, with only one significant change. The storage is now 64GB instead of 32GB. Besides that, you get a 47mm display with a titanium casing and a 590mAh battery (good for up to 100 hours of use in power-saving mode). Oh, and there is a new Titanium Blue colour option this year. We've all come to love Circle to Search ever since it debuted last year. Now, it's getting even more powerful with AI Mode. It's Google's most advanced AI search experience yet. You can circle something, get an AI-powered response and then ask follow-up questions, no matter how tough. On the Galaxy Z Fold 7, you can simply long-press the power button and your screen will be shared with Gemini. Then you can utilise Gemini's help for anything and everything you need. On the Galaxy Z Flip 7, camera sharing with Gemini Live is now available. It's coming to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FlexWindow. 'Starting with the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, Gemini will also connect directly with your favourite Samsung apps like Samsung Calendar, Reminder and Notes,' Samsung announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event. This is in addition to Gemini Live support for Google apps. Since the brand-new Galaxy Watch 8 comes with Wear OS 6, it is the first smartwatch to feature Gemini. Project Moohan is more than just a secret. Samsung has been teasing and slowly releasing information about its very own Android XR headset, Project Moohan, and we were all anticipating some concrete news about it at Galaxy Unpacked. Alas, we haven't learnt any bit more than we did when the teaser was released at the last Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in January. There was also little information available about the heavily rumoured tri-fold smartphone. The Galaxy Fold was an afterthought; it seemed that way. It was only during press interviews that we learned from TM Roh, Samsung's acting head of the device experience division, that the company "(is expected to) launch the tri-fold phone within this year'. Roh further iterated that Samsung hasn't settled on a name yet for its first-ever tri-fold smartphone. Note: All devices will be available on and all leading retail outlets across the country.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 Hands-On: I'm Excited About the Bigger Screens, Battery and FE Variant
Are two Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phones better than one? That's the question I kept pondering as I held the new Galaxy Z Flip 7 in one hand and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE in the other at a Samsung press preview. It's a strategy that's worked well for one of the company's foldable phone competitors, Motorola, which has Razr models starting as low as $700 and as much as $1,300. The new Galaxy Z Flip 7, which starts at $1,100, has been completely redesigned with a 4.1-inch cover screen, a 6.9-inch main display, a larger battery and a body that's thinner than last year's Galaxy Z Flip 6. It's not quite as thin as the new Galaxy Z Fold 7, which was also announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event. Watch this: Galaxy Unpacked 2025: Samsung's Key Announcements in 8 Minutes -- Foldables, Wearables and AI Redefined 08:03 Then there's the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE (which stands for fan edition) that inherits some Galaxy Z Flip 6 looks in a smaller and more modest package, including the classic 3.4-inch cover screen with a file folder tab cut-out for its cameras. It costs $900. There will certainly be people eager to save $200 with the Flip 7 FE. But there'll be others wondering if Samsung has an Apple iPhone 16E-like problem when it comes to its definition of affordable. In my limited time with each phone, I was especially enamored with the Flip 7 because it seems to have solved for many of the shortcomings of previous Z Flip phones by adding a larger cover screen and battery. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE are now available to preorder and will be on sale starting July 25. Samsung's launch coincides with Amazon's Prime Day event, which has sales on Samsung TVs and laptops. Watch this: Ultra Thin: First Look at the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 02:45 Galaxy Z Flip 7 Here is the Z Flip 7 in a tented position with its cover display turned off. Joe Maldonado/CNET Samsung's 2025 premium clamshell is a bit of a paradox: Compared to the Flip 6, it has bigger displays inside a thinner body. Even before I opened the Galaxy Z Flip 7, I could tell there had been some major changes. The hinge is nearly 30% smaller than the one on the Flip 6, Samsung said. And because the company applied waterproofing to the Flip 7's internal circuitry (instead of the chassis), the phone's body is thinner, coming in at 6.5mm thick when unfolded, versus 6.9mm on the Flip 6. The Flip 7 comes in three colors: blue shadow, jet black and coral red. Samsung is offering a fourth color, mint, on its website. The cover screen is now 4.1 inches, has a refresh rate up to 120Hz (like the main screen) and can reach a peak brightness of 2,600 nits; compare that to the Z Flip 6's outer display, which was 3.4 inches and topped out at 1,600 nits. This should make jumping back and forth between the main and outer screens feel more consistent in terms of brightness (especially outdoors) and system animations such as scrolling a news or social feed. The FlexWindow, Samsung's name for the cover display, supports Gemini, including Gemini Live. I'm eager to test it out and see what using the larger display is like in real life. I should note that Samsung boasted that there's 1.26mm between the selfie shooters and the edge of the phone – so if you're not into big bezels, there's that. The Z Flip 7 has a 50-megapixel camera with a wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel ultra wide camera in its cover screen. Joe Maldonado/CNET The Flip 7 has a 50-megapixel main camera with a wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera. In terms of specs, the three cameras are identical to the ones on the Z Flip 6. But Samsung says it's made improvements to image processing, and the Flip 7 supports 10-bit HDR videos and adds portrait enhancements and a new zoom-slider (that's one-handed friendly). There's also a 10-megapixel selfie camera in the 6.9-inch main display. Powering the phone is a 4,300-mAh battery. This is welcome news because the Flip 6's 4,000-mAh battery did just OK in CNET's tests for my review. The Flip 7 has a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and 12GB of RAM. In fact, it supports Samsung Dex, which when the phone is connected to a monitor turns the Flip 7 into a computer with its own desktop mode. The Flip 7 runs on OneUI 8 (Android 16), supports Gemini AI and comes with a number of Galaxy AI customizations: Auto-curated AI wallpapers with photos from your Gallery Customized emojis and backgrounds A clock font that auto-stretches around your wallpaper's image Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is a new model aimed at saving people money. Joe Maldonado/CNET I'm so happy to see Samsung expand its Flip line, especially with a model that comes in at a lower cost. While the $900 Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is $200 less than the Flip 7, it's also $200 more than the Motorola Razr (2025) -- currently the most affordable clamshell foldable you can buy in the US before discounts. The new Galaxy Z Flip FE seems like a repackaged Galaxy Z Flip 6 in a thinner body, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially as it comes in at a lower price. It has the same cameras (so does the Flip 7) and the same 4,000-mAh battery. It runs on an Exynos 2400 processor, instead of the Flip 6's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It comes with either 128GB or 256GB of storage. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE comes in either black or white. I look forward to learning more about the FE and testing the two new Galaxy Z Flip phones when I can get my hands on them.

Motorola is giving the Razr a crystal-studded special edition and here's your first look
TL;DR Motorola is preparing to launch a special edition Razr 2025 in collaboration with Swarovski. Images of this special edition foldable have now leaked. It appears this collaboration is limited to just the base model It's not uncommon for Motorola to loop in collaborators to create special editions of its products. For example, the company recently teamed up with jewelry maker Swarovski to launch a special edition of its new Moto buds loop. That partnership isn't ending with earbuds, however, as Swarovski is also helping out with a special edition for the Razr 2025. A new leak may have now given us our first look at this joint effort. The folks over at YTECHB have shared images of this special edition Swarovski Razr 2025. Based on these images, the foldable will be studded with crystals, similar to the special edition buds loop. According to the outlet, the phone will be available in a colorway called 'Ice Blue.' It also appears that Motorola is focusing on the base model Razr 2025 for this collaboration. So if you were hoping that there would also be a Swarovski version of the Razr Plus or Ultra, it looks like you'll be out of luck. Coinciding with this leak, trusted tipster Evan Blass just provided a possible launch date for the special edition. It seems we can expect an announcement on August 5. When it arrives, it should share all of the same specs as the normal Motorola Razr 2025. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ .
