NSG launches KSA’s first Earth Observation Marketplace

Operated by UP42 the Earth Observation platform was launched to meet the growing demand for high-resolution satellite imagery and space analytics across key sectors. Neo Space Group (NSG) has announced the launch of the Earth Observation (EO) Marketplace, the Kingdom’s first dedicated EO data marketplace, powered by UP42 – a company fully owned by Neo Space Group (NSG). The platform is designed to meet the growing demand for advanced EO and geospatial data solutions. The group stated that the EO Marketplace will bring together a growing network of EO data providers and value-added service providers offering advanced geospatial analytics and data processing capabilities. The platform is built to empower public sector agencies, Saudi companies and international users by offering a wide range of high-resolution satellite imagery and EO data products. It aims to serve as a comprehensive and simplified one-stop shop to support solution developers and service providers and is fully equipped to meet the future needs of government entities within the Kingdom. The platform is also expected to drive the expansion of EO data availability across a range of applications in key sectors, including environment, infrastructure, energy, real estate, mining, transportation, logistics, agriculture and others. This launch aligns closely with the initiatives and goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The launch follows the completion of NSG’s acquisition of UP42 GmbH from Airbus originally disclosed in December 2024. UP42 is a next-generation digital platform for EO that leverages cloud computing technology to provide leading solutions for accessing and analyzing Earth observation data. It enables seamless discovery, acquisition and management of EO data and large-scale image processing via unified formats, intuitive tools and fully automated workflows. The platform is designed to comply with the regulatory requirements of the Kingdom and is hosted on a secure and reliable infrastructure. Martijn Blanken, CEO of Neo Space Group, said: 'The launch of the EO Marketplace reflects the Kingdom’s remarkable trajectory of growth and the increasing demand for EO data. Today, more than ever, EO data plays a pivotal role in supporting Saudi Arabia’s transformational Vision 2030 — from infrastructure development and urban expansion to optimized resource management. Given the Kingdom’s vast geography — spanning over 2.15 million square kilometers, nearly the size of Western Europe — this platform will serve as both a valuable marketplace and decision-making tool across a wide range of sectors.' Frank Salzgeber, Acting Deputy Governor for the Space Sector at the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST), commented: 'Value creation is shifting downstream in the EO supply chain — where AI technologies intersect with space data. The market is now at a perfect inflection point.” He added: “Alongside enhancing national capabilities, the platform is expected to accelerate the adoption of space technologies in the Kingdom. It reflects our national priorities: fostering technological innovation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building secure infrastructure.' Neo Space Group (NSG) also expressed its deep appreciation for the continuous guidance and support of the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST), which has played a vital role throughout this journey — from licensing and enabling the platform to ensuring strategic alignment.

I-Day: Delhi Police Deploys AI Surveillance, 20,000 Personnel For Red Fort Celebrations; Security Stepped Up In Key Cities

Security has been significantly heightened across the country ahead of Independence Day celebrations, with intensified patrolling, checkpoints for vehicles and individuals, and enhanced surveillance measures. In Delhi, police carried out checks at border points and strategic locations. The national capital's security has been fortified with a multi-layer plan involving Delhi Police, paramilitary forces, the National Security Guard (NSG), the Special Protection Group (SPG), Military Intelligence, and other agencies. Over 20,000 security personnel have been deployed. According to Delhi Police officials, Advanced Artificial Intelligence systems -- including facial recognition, anti-intrusion cameras, people count cameras, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), and abandoned object detection -- have been installed. The ANPR will scan number plates to flag suspicious vehicles, while the facial recognition system integrates a database of 300,000 suspects. "The Abandoned Object Detection system will trigger an instant alarm to the control room upon finding any unattended item in or around the Red Fort," said officials, adding that the Anti-Intrusion Cameras will cover every wall and railing of the fort and will alert authorities to any suspicious movement or breach attempt. Anti-drone systems are operational, snipers have been stationed on rooftops, and over 800 CCTV cameras are monitoring key areas. Two special control rooms -- inside and outside the Red Fort -- will track feeds from 426 cameras in real time, officials said. Joint Commissioner Madhur Verma said, "From a security point of view, Delhi Police have made all arrangements for the 15th August celebrations. Clubbing Delhi Police and other paramilitary services together, more than 20,000 personnel are deployed. CCTV cameras have been installed at the Red Fort and along all VVIP routes towards the venue." Joint CP Verma said the Red Fort has been under access control for 20 days, with regular anti-sabotage checks. Parking facilities will have under-vehicle scanning systems. "This time, we have used video analytics in CCTV cameras--facial recognition system, abandoned object detection, person count and more. Even at the parking facility, under-vehicle scanning systems are being used. We have made multi-layered security arrangements at the Red Fort. We took access control of the Red Fort around 20 days ahead, and regular anti-sabotage checks and other measures are being undertaken," he said. From the afternoon of August 14, the entire Red Fort area has been sealed. Delhi Police have access to a database of 300,000 criminals, and if any such individuals are spotted near the Red Fort through surveillance systems, they will be immediately apprehended. Special Commissioner of Traffic Police Ajay Chaudhary said a ban on the entry of commercial vehicles into Delhi from all border points came into effect at 10 pm on August 14 and will remain until the event concludes on August 15. "Diversions will also be implemented on the routes leading to the Red Fort. An event is also held at India Gate, and diversions will be put in place there as well. The traffic police have deployed approximately 3,000 personnel for this arrangement..." he said. Last week, on Saturday, a high-level meeting was held at the Delhi Police Headquarters to discuss final stage preparations for the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. Two meetings at different levels were held at the Delhi Police headquarters. Around 25,000 people are expected to attend the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. Earlier, DCP Outer North Hareshwar V Swami told ANI that cyber patrolling was conducted to track Instagram accounts posting photos and videos with weapons. "We did cyber patrolling in the Outer North District of Instagram accounts where photos and reels with weapons are uploaded. We looked up all such accounts. Different teams were formed and raids were carried out in the last 24 hours. We nabbed nine suspects and recovered 23 country-made pistols, one semi-automatic pistol and 30 live rounds. We have registered 9 FIRs. All of them have been taken into Police remand. We are conducting further investigation regarding the source of weapons..." Swami added that the operation was part of directives to crack down on hooligans and criminals ahead of August 15. Meanwhile, security has been significantly heightened in other major parts of the country too, ahead of Independence Day celebrations. In Chandigarh, SSP Chandigarh Kanwardeep Kaur said more than 2,000 police personnel have been deployed. "Picketing has been done on all the areas bordering Punjab and the suspicious vehicles are being than 2000 police personnel have been deployed in Chandigarh..." the SSP said. Chandigarh DGP Dr Sagar Preet Hooda said, "Proper security arrangements have been made in view of the Independence Day police have been deployed this time..." Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal, police authorities conducted a flag march on Thursday ahead of Independence Day celebrations. "A flag march was conducted to instil a feeling of security among the public, given the Independence Day celebrations..." ASP Rajesh Kumar Srivastava told ANI after the flag march. In Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora, the BSF has deployed women personnel along the LoC in Gurez as part of tightened security arrangements for Independence Day. In Mumbai, too, Police personnel conducted vehicle checks. Similarly, in Tripura's Agartala, special security arrangements have been made by the administration and police for I-Day celebrations. "Given the sensitive situation at the borders, proper security measures are in place, including checkpoints, pickets, and intelligence teams at necessary sensitive points throughout the city," DM Vishal Kumar said while speaking to ANI earlier. "It is expected that people will participate in these events with great joy and patriotic fervour, assured by the fully secure system and well-managed arrangements," he added.

SINGAPORE – Dania Adlina, 14, is equally adept with her hands as she is with her feet. This National School Games (NSG) season, the versatile student-athlete has competed in both netball and football as a goal attack and striker, respectively. On Aug 13, it was her feet that did the talking in the NSG C Division girls' football final at the National Stadium. The Boon Lay Secondary School student scored three goals as her CBP (Centre-based partnership) W3 combined team thumped defending champions Meridian Secondary School 7-0 to claim their first NSG title. Teammate Aria Romano also scored a hat-trick, while Griva Antonia added another from the penalty spot. 'I love playing as a forward because I like scoring goals,' said Dania, who attends netball and football training once a week. 'My teammates and I are just so happy to have won this after working hard for it.' While she did not win a medal in netball at the NSG, Dania was elated to have played a starring role in their gold-medal victory in football. The Secondary Two student has split her time between both sports for now, though her goal is to become a professional footballer. She said: 'I want to go overseas and play there. I want to play with better players and I want to achieve that by working hard every day. My father and brother both are very into football and used to play the sport so I want to continue that. ' Methodist Girls' Secondary One student Griva, who was born in Singapore to Greek parents, was delighted to play a part in their victory on Aug 13. The 13-year-old said: 'I want to be a professional footballer and represent Singapore. For now, I want to get selected for the Lion City Cup girls team next year.' CBP W3 head coach Fahrish Khan said he was proud of his players' progress, adding that seeing their development has brought him more joy than the gold. In their inaugural NSG outing in 2023, the CBP team were thrashed 20-0 by Meridian in the preliminary round. A year later, they were beaten 3-1 by the same school in their first final appearance. This time, they beat their rivals – who were gunning for their fourth consecutive title – convincingly. Meridian coach Fabio da Silva was proud of his players' efforts despite the heavy loss. He said: 'We played against a very strong side, but I want to congratulate my team who have worked very hard to be here in the final. It aims to strengthen youth football development and produce players with sound technical ability, complementing existing pathways at youth teams of the National Development Centre, local football clubs, and ActiveSG and private academies. In 2023, two girls' SFAs were started at Woodlands Secondary School and CBP. Under the SFA, players aged 13 to 16 will train up to four times a week and play significantly more games in the year, compared to those in other secondary schools, while following a structured training programme which makes use of sports science. The SFA programme also adopts a values-based curriculum that also nurtures the young athletes with values such as respect and resilience. Another SFA representative at the National Stadium on Aug 13 was Montfort Secondary School, who featured in their first C Division boys' final. In May, Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) – another SFA school – claimed their maiden B Division boys' football title. Philippe Aw, programme head of the SFA, who was also in attendance at the National Stadium congratulated the players and coaches of the SFA schools 'for a wonderful run.' Aw added: 'I am grateful to the schools for their belief in the SFA programme. We take pride in ensuring that schools in the SFA programme not only focus on results, but also achieve positive results through structured coaching and sports science support, while providing students with a values-based curriculum that also helps them be motivated off the pitch.'
