Looking for a university with great frat life? Niche used student feedback to determine the best Greek life colleges in the U.S. Lots of students pledge to a fraternity or sorority to find friends. The sense of camaraderie can make college more fun, and it gives changes to interact with the community while having a busy social calendar. On that front, one Mississippi university rises above the rest, ranking among the Top 5 in the nation. The University of Mississippi took the top honor in the state for having the best Greek Life and is No. 4 in the country. Niche gave the school an A+ for its party scene. It also ranked as the best 4-year school in the state, earning an A overall. The acceptance rate is 98%, and the net price is approximately $14,946, which is lower than the national average of $15,523. The average total aid at Ole Miss is $13,070, which is well over the national average of $7,535. Approximately 85% of students receive some form of financial assistance. Based on student reviews, Ole Miss also ranks: No. 8 in the nation for best college campus out of 1,373. No. 13 in the U.S. for top party schools. No. 40 for best college athletics. This Southern City Has the Lowest Cost of Living in the U.S.—and It's Close to the Beach
Doing just about anything feels expensive these days. From the price of daily treats like a latte, reaching $5.46, to the cost of larger ticket items, like a vacation, hitting record highs, everything can feel out of reach. There is, however, one way to make life feel a bit more affordable, and that's by relocating to an area where the cost of living is still reasonable. Each year, ranks the cities with the lowest cost of living across the U.S. after considering key factors, including housing, food and gas costs, and the median tax rates. After analyzing all the data, named Brownsville, Texas, as the city with the lowest cost of living in the U.S. The city in Cameron County, home to approximately 188,000 residents, is situated at the tip of the state, near the Gulf Coast, on the U.S.-Mexico border. More importantly, though, it is known as the "taco capital of Texas" and has its own taco trail. Brownsville also ranked highly (No. 16 overall) on Niche's list of the Best Cities to Buy a House in America, thanks to its affordable pricing, with a median home value of just about $122,000 and a median rent of $906. It's also a great place for families, ranking No. 77 on the website's list of Cities with the Best Public Schools in America, with many of its public schools earning A or A+ grades. A,nd it's not just Niche that's singing its praises, residents are, too. "I've lived in Brownsville my whole life, and if you are looking for a small city, this is the city for you," one community member shared on the site. "It has beautiful culture and history, with multiple beaches nearby, making for a small tourist area. It's the perfect balance between a small city and urban landscape, where community is strong." Last year, investment website Insider Monkey named Brownsville the best Southern city to retire in for less than $1,500 a month, reporting that its cost of living is 25 percent lower than the national average. However, Brownsville isn't the only city in Texas that made it to the top of list—Wichita Falls, a town located north of Fort Worth, ranked second. A Long Island county is one of the best to live in statewide, a report by Niche reveals. Niche, which connects students and families with colleges and schools through in-depth profiles and reviews and ratings, analyzed the overall livability of counties by looking at several key factors, including the quality of local schools, housing trends, employment statistics and access to amenities. Here's what to know. Nassau County, home to Garden City, Hempstead and Great Neck, has been named the top New York county to live in by Niche as it received an overall grade of A+, which was assigned based on how each place performed compared to all other places included in the ranking. With a population of over 1.3 million, Niche says many young professionals live in the county and it's packed with bars, restaurants, coffee shops and parks. The county also received an A+ for its public schools, nightlife, health and fitness and family friendliness. Cost of living was the only category in which Nassau County didn't receive an A or B grade. The analysis revealed the county's median home value of $658,700 is higher than the national value of $303,400. However, most Nassau County residents own homes, according to Niche. The county's median rent price is $2,195, which is over $800 higher than the national median rent price. A new map created by Newsweek reveals the locations of the nation's top school districts according to a report published last fall, showing that some states are seen as clear leaders in education according to the report's parameters. Niche, an educational research platform, has done a 2025 report ranking the top 50 school districts in the United States, evaluating over 11,000 districts nationwide. This is the 11th year of the report. To create these rankings, Niche combined several data points from both subjective and objective sources. The methodology incorporated ratings from current students, alumni, and parents, as well as quantitative data collected from the U.S. Department of Education. Niche's comprehensive evaluation assessed various aspects of each district, including academic performance, teacher quality, availability of clubs and extracurricular activities, college preparation resources, and administrative effectiveness. The platform weighed both qualitative user input and detailed quantitative statistics to provide what it describes as a "well-rounded perspective" on educational institutions nationwide.
