Sony WF‑C710N review: A stylish pair of TWS earbuds for Sony loyalists

The truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbud market, spanning both budget and mid-range segments, has experienced a surge over the past few years. With players like OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Nothing, and others coming out with solid earbuds, each with their own USP, can an established player in the audio market, Sony, make a dent in the budget space? That was one of two questions I had when I unboxed the brand-new WF-C710N earbuds from Sony. The other question was whether the brand could outdo Nothing in terms of design chops. Design: à la Nothing? Nothing has been known for its semi-transparent designs over the years. Their earbuds, of which they have several now, have consistently been at the top of reviewers' lists, thanks to their distinctive design and excellent sound quality. Sony, however, took a slightly different approach with the WF-C710N. They have that very familiar stemless silhouette, but the Glass Blue variant that I have with me has a trick up its sleeve. Yes, it's got a translucent design! You can peek into the internals, something that Nothing has done before. It'll be quite the conversation starter. The WF-C710N features a pill-shaped case that isn't bulky and can fit into any pocket. The design of the earbuds is similar to that of their flagship model, the WF-1000XM5, although they are slightly too large for my liking. The earbuds completely engulf the entire ear canal, and although they are extremely comfortable, they can't be worn for hours without needing a break. On the upside is the fact that they don't fall out at all, even while running at high speeds. They do have an IPX4 water resistance rating, but they aren't explicitly designed for workouts. Touch controls: They just work What I liked about these earbuds is the fact that the touch controls just work. The single tap (play/pause), double tap (skipping tracks), and long press (ANC toggle) controls worked like a charm. A quadruple tap is also available for volume adjustments. If none of these are to your fancy, then you can just go into the Sound Connect app and customise these. Sound and ANC quality It's the sound that needs to shine, rather than that translucent design. I'm happy to report that the WF-C710N punches above its weight, unlike its slightly lacklustre predecessors. Another bass-forward earphones, but the WF-C710N has good tuning out of the box. Just put on a track like Kendrick Lamar'sDNA orLoyalty, and the earbuds will produce rich vocals with a significant amount of clarity. The instruments sound crisp, and even the lowest notes shine brightly like diamonds. It's got a warm, rich sound with a wide soundstage. The instrument separation shines through and through. It can be felt intensely while listening toTake Five by Dave Brubeck. Each kick of the drum, every note from the piano, the double bass and the saxophone, sparkles in your ear with precision. While I was amazed by the ANC on the Buds 4 from OnePlus, the WF-C710 can cancel out even the sharpest of quips from the table next to me. These two are the best for ANC in this price range by a long shot. The WF-C710 has excellent passive noise isolation to begin with, thanks to the snug fit. This may also be due to the extra microphone in each earpiece this time around, but I'm a happy camper. On a crowded yellow metro from Hauz Khas to Rajiv Chowk, I drowned out the noises of my fellow passengers and even the announcements of each approaching station. It was blissfully quiet, and I wouldn't have it any other way. For the times when I needed to let in some external noise, I simply switched to Ambient Sound mode. That extra mic was a golden decision from the R&D team. Not only is the ANC better, but call quality is excellent for the money here. There's also Sony's brand-new AI-enhanced voice pickup technology. Clarity is guaranteed from both sides. Battery life is quite superb Sony rates the earbuds for 8.5 hours with ANC on, and 12 hours with ANC off. The case provides an additional 21.5 hours, with ANC on. According to my non-scientific test, I managed to surpass Sony's own numbers and achieved just about nine hours of playback on a single charge. The case and earbuds charge over USB-C, and sadly, there's no wireless charging. A five-minute charge will get you an additional hour of listening time. Verdict At ₹8,990, the WF-C710Ns have probably the second-best ANC of any TWS earbuds in this price range. I was pleasantly surprised by the value I received from these earbuds. While I may not be entirely on board with the design (slightly larger than I'd like) or the touch controls (pressing four times for volume controls is quite annoying), the sound output, ANC, and battery life kept me hooked. Sadly, one thing I didn't mention above is that the WF-C710N earbuds lack support for LDAC (lossless audio). If you want LDAC, I'd suggest you look at Nothing Ear (a) earbuds. In the end, the WF-C710N earbuds are a solid all-rounder but nothing groundbreaking. It's a great option, no doubt, but don't forget also to check out the Nothing Ear (a) and OnePlus Buds 4, both excellent options in their own right.

OnePlus' big bet on gaming in India: AI, eSports, and high-performance mobiles

Mobile gaming in India is no longer a niche hobby. With millions of players across casual and competitive titles, brands are racing to capture attention through high-performance devices and community engagement. OnePlus is stepping up its efforts to cater to this growing audience with eSports initiatives. Marcel Campos, Director of Product and Gaming Strategy at OnePlus, explains how the brand is blending technology with community engagement.(OnePlus) In an exclusive conversation, Marcel Campos, Director of Product Strategy and Gaming Strategy at OnePlus, shared how the brand is evolving its gaming strategy in India and the role AI is playing in mobile gameplay. 'Gaming has always been part of our DNA,' Campos explained. 'Even back to the OnePlus 8T x Cyberpunk 2077, we started creating devices that set a benchmark, features that became part of our identity. We've been reviving and evolving that legacy over the years.' He emphasised that performance remains central to OnePlus devices, from flagship models to the Nord series. Using the Nord 5 as an example, Campos highlighted its Snapdragon 8 processor, 144Hz refresh rate display, and vapor chamber cooling. Campos sees AI as a transformative tool for mobile gaming, though he stresses balance. 'AI can optimise performance, smooth gameplay, and make games run better. But AI that replaces the player's skill is a bigger conversation. No one wants a bot playing in their place, auto-farming resources. We want gaming to remain fair.' AI, he said, is already assisting in areas like code optimisation and gameplay smoothness, and future AI integration will focus on enhancing experiences without replacing player interaction. Even casual games like Candy Crush can benefit, he added, through AI agents that provide hints or gameplay insights. When asked about OnePlus' differentiation in India's competitive eSports space, Campos said the brand is thinking beyond sponsorships. 'We sponsor three e-sports teams, but we also sponsor campus tournaments to open doors for more people to experience competitive gaming. It's about strengthening grassroots e-sports and giving everyone a chance to enjoy the thrill of competition.' He stressed that gaming is a long-term initiative for OnePlus, not tied to a single year or product. On ROI from gaming events, Campos explained, 'Our first priority is to get closer to people and truly understand them, especially gamers. The second is building awareness and recognition for OnePlus devices as great gaming products. Gaming is one of the best ways to showcase our performance story.' Campos also hinted at future possibilities in hardware and collaborations. 'Never say never. More important than anything is understanding our community. For example, our collaboration with Genshin Impact resulted in a collectible product that connected us directly with passionate gamers.' He sees gaming in India as rapidly growing, moving from niche to mainstream entertainment. 'Gaming is now recognised like movies or books, competing for people's attention. Casual titles like Candy Crush coexist with strategy-heavy games like BGMI. India is moving in exactly the right direction, and gaming is increasingly seen as a legitimate form of entertainment.' OnePlus' strategy in India makes it clear: the brand is not just following the gaming trend but aiming to shape it, combining high-performance hardware, AI-powered experiences, and deep community engagement. OnePlus 15 could beat Apple and Samsung to this huge display upgrade — but it comes with a cost

A new leak could have just tipped us off that OnePlus' upcoming OnePlus 15 phone might match the best gaming phones in one key area: refresh rates. Albeit, with an unfortunate catch. While OnePlus might not be the most well-known brand out there, the OnePlus 13 still ranks among our picks for one of the best phones you can currently buy. As such, we've been keeping an eye out for any new updates on its follow-up, the alleged OnePlus 15. And yes, OnePlus appears to be skipping the OnePlus 14 entirely and going straight to 15. In a recent post on Weibo, well-known source, Digital Chat Station (DCS) — via Phone Arena— revealed that OnePlus is testing a 165Hz refresh rate for the phone. On top of the improved refresh rate, it is also stated that OnePlus is developing a new performance engine, which would allow the phone to run games at 165FPS natively. However, all of this comes at the cost of the display's resolution, which is stated to be dropping down to 1.5K. For reference, the OnePlus 13 released with a 2K display, so this would be a noticeable drop in quality if accurate. It isn't just the display that's mentioned, as DCS also states the OnePlus 15 could launch with what's described as a super black color option called Moon Rock Black. The phone is also stated to be coming with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 that's tipped for Samsung's Galaxy S26 series. As it stands, very few phones tend to aim for 165Hz, with both the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro peaking at 120Hz. There are a couple of reasons for this, with the main being that most apps available on phones struggle to utilize the rate. On top of that, the human eye struggles to differentiate between 120Hz and 165Hz, meaning it often doesn't make a noticeable difference. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. The other issue has to do with power consumption, as a higher refresh rate will drain more of the battery when in use. While DCS doesn't specify if the new display features an adaptive refresh rate to counter this, the OnePlus 13 does, so I'd assume it's a given. For the most part, news and leaks about OnePlus' next device have been pretty sparse, but indications online have stated that the new phone could even have a smaller screen. According to a report from Phone Arena, the OnePlus 15 will apparently launch with a 6.78-inch screen, compared to the current 6.82-inch display seen on the OnePlus 13. We have also seen that OnePlus plans to drop its mute switch and instead replace it with something akin to the Action button seen on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series. However, the response to this has been mostly negative, with many fans being upset at the news. As with any leak, we should always take the information provided with a pinch of salt, at least until we can see the phone for ourselves. On that note, several rumors have stated that OnePlus plans to launch the phone in China in October 2025, which could (if OnePlus sticks to its usual release schedule) mean a global release around January next year. OnePlus 15 5G mobile could be the ideal phone for gaming, new leak reveals

OnePlus 15 is expected to be the next major flagship from OnePlus, succeeding the highly acclaimed OnePlus 13. While the launch may still be several months away, new details about the device have emerged via a tipster on Weibo, who claims the phone could feature a super high refresh rate screen and has revealed some intriguing design elements. Here's what you need to know. OnePlus 15 is expected to sport an all-new camera layout. (OnePlus ) OnePlus 15 is expected to support a 165Hz display The tipster on Weibo suggests the phone will feature a panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 1.5K resolution, which would enable a new gaming engine capable of 165Hz, 165FPS gaming. If this does end up happening, it would make the gaming experience much better compared to OnePlus 13, especially considering it could also sport performance gains. For context, the OnePlus 13, the current flagship from OnePlus, supports a 120Hz refresh rate and features a QHD+ resolution. In terms of the chipset, the phone is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Qualcomm's current flagship chipset. Considering the OnePlus 15 is expected to surpass this with a higher refresh rate display and potentially a much faster processor, likely the next Snapdragon flagship, the gaming experience on the OnePlus 15 could be much improved. OnePlus 15 Design: New Black Colour Tipped As for the design, the tipster claims that the OnePlus 15 may come in a new 'super black' colour, potentially named Moonrock Black. Additionally, reports have indicated that the OnePlus 15 could feature an all-new back design, including a new camera layout, marking a departure from the design of the OnePlus 13. Significant changes may be in store for the OnePlus 15.
