Top Advance Bookings At Major National Chains For Opening Day In 2025: Housefull 5 secures 3rd spot among Bollywood movies with 90,000 tickets
The advance bookings for Housefull 5 have wrapped up for its opening day, and the numbers are in. The Akshay Kumar fronted comic caper has sold 90,000 tickets in top national chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis. This places Housefull 5 as the third highest-selling Bollywood film in advance bookings for 2025, trailing behind Chhaava (223,000 tickets) and Sikandar (143,000 tickets). However, these figures are, at best, mediocre for a franchise known for its mass appeal and star-studded cast. Fans and trade analysts expected much stronger advance numbers, given the brand value of the Housefull series. Other Bollywood releases like Raid 2 (86,000 tickets), Sky Force (52,000 tickets), and Badass Ravikumar (47,500 tickets) are behind Housefull 5, but the gap isn't as wide as one would hope for a film of this scale. Films like Kesari 2 (33,000 tickets), Emergency (27,000 tickets) and Jaat (20,000 tickets) round out the list. We had reported that Raid 2 sold 93,000 tickets in top national chains for the opening day in our listicle. To clarify, Raid 2 had sold 93,000 tickets by morning of the day of release. At midnight, the total ticket sales were 86,000. 1. Chhaava - 223,000 tickets 2. Sikandar - 143,000 tickets 3. Housefull 5 - 90,000 tickets 4. Raid 2 - 86,000 tickets 5. Sky Force - 52,000 tickets 6. Badass Ravikumar - 47,500 tickets (Rs 99) 7. Kesari 2 - 33,000 tickets 8. Bhool Chuk Maaf - 30,000 tickets 9. Emergency - 26,000 tickets (Rs 99) 10. Jaat - 20,000 tickets Outside the top national chains, Housefull 5 has performed better, especially in single-screen theaters and smaller centers. However, even these numbers are also not as impressive as they should be for a franchise that thrives on family audiences. The film's advance bookings for the weekend show a ray of hope. Families, eager to enjoy a light-hearted comedy during the festive holiday, have driven relatively stronger ticket sales for Saturday and Sunday. This could give the film a much-needed boost over the opening weekend. Financially, Housefull 5 is in a decent spot before its theatrical release. The makers have already recovered 60 percent of the film's budget through non-theatrical revenues, such as satellite, digital, and music rights. For Housefull 5 to be declared a hit, it needs to aim high at the ticket counters. It must net atleast over Rs 200 crore in India and gross over Rs 325 crore worldwide to be in contention to get a hit tag. Given the franchise's track record, this target is achievable but will depend heavily on positive word-of-mouth and sustained footfalls over the festive period. The Housefull series has always been a crowd-pleaser, banking on its mix of humor, star power, and family-friendly entertainment. But with only 90,000 advance tickets sold in top chains for the opening day, the film hasn't generated the buzz it needed. If Housefull 5 delivers on laughs and entertainment, it could overcome this average start. For now, all eyes are on its opening day performance and how it holds up over the crucial festive weekend.

Housefull 5 Final Advance Booking: Akshay Kumar starrer sells 90,000 tickets in national chains
The Akshay Kumar led Housefull 5 is just hours away from its release, and the advance booking for the comic caper is looking to close in the vicinity of 90,000 tickets. While PVRInox has sold 71,000 tickets, Cinepolis has sold about 19,000 tickets for the opening day as on Thursday at 11.59 PM. The film could open the first show on Friday morning with pre-sales of 1 lakh. To put things to context, Raid 2 had sold 86,000 tickets in the national chains by mid-night and opened the day with an advance of 93,000 tickets. The advance bookings should have been higher by at-least 25 percent for this Akshay Kumar, and this level of pre-sale leaves a lot for the film to make up with the walk-in audience. Housefull 5 has scored the third biggest advance of the year after Chhaava (2,25,000 tickets*) and Sikandar (1,43,000 tickets), though pre-sales in the north of 1.10 lakh would have looked sweeter. The biggest plus for Housefull 5 rests in the fact that the advance booking numbers are genuine and organic, without any external intervention – a bug that has taken over the industry hard in the post-covid era. Housefull is not usually an advance-heavy franchise and hence the hopes are pinned on the film to record stronger than usual walk-ins through the day, and then see a big surge in business on Saturday and Sunday. While the advance booking is about 5 percent better than Raid 2, the collections in advance would be about 25 percent better, as the makers have gone ahead with super blockbuster pricing as compared to popular slab adopted by Raid 2. MovieMax chain on the other hand has sold approx. 3600 tickets, placing itself ahead of films like Salaar (2700 tickets), Fighter (2850 tickets), and Shaitaan (3000 tickets) in the same range as Sikandar (3700 tickets). The film has sold about 4500 tickets in Miraj, as compared to 5000 tickets sold by Fighter. The scenario in non-national chains is a lot better than the national chains, which gives a hope of better performance in the single screens with spot bookings. The data of Rajhans is still awaited and we will update the article by 1 AM with the data too. Interestingly, 70 percent of the total sales all across the board have come for Housefull 5A, and just 30 percent is for Housefull 5B. All in all, its an average result for Housefull 5 in the advance booking, and the hope is on the film to deliver entertainment, leading to big spikes in the business on Saturday and Sunday. The film did gain some sort of momentum on Thursday, which keeps it in the race for a Rs 20 crore start in India, leading to holiday on Saturday and Sunday. The film should be targeting a weekend of at-least Rs 80 crore, and a good talk in the target audience will help it sail through over the weekend.

Housefull 5 Box Office Preview: Akshay Kumar starrer run time, screen count, advance booking & opening day
Akshay Kumar is returning to the box office on June 6 with the Sajid Nadiadwala produced Housefull 5. The comic caper is the first franchise in India to hit number 5, and is releasing with a lot of anticipation, which the makers have attempted to spike with the strategy of releasing the same film with two different climaxes all across the country. Housefull 5 (A & B) has been certified U/A by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an approved run time of 2 hours and 45 minutes. Housefull 5 is seeing an All India release by Pen Marudhar, and the distributor is going wide with the showcasing, giving the film a release on over 5000 screens all across the country. This makes Housefull 5 the biggest release till date for Akshay Kumar, and the shows at the moment are split 60:40 in the favour of Housefull 5A: Housefull 5B. The film is led by Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh with Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Sonam Bajwa among others. The advances for Housefull 5 opened on Saturday evening, and the response in the chains is just about average, though the hope is on the film to gain momentum from Wednesday evening, leading to the final day of sales. As on Wednesday at 3.30 PM, Housefull 5 has sold approximately 27,500 ticket s in the top 3 national chains, PVRInox and Cinepolis. The film will be looking to close the day with pre-sales of 40,000 tickets, leaving a lot to be done on the final day. The closest comparison one can draw is with Raid 2 (Labour Day), whose pre-sales stood at 33,000 tickets on Wednesday morning for a Thursday release, and the final sale closed at 93,000 tickets. Housefull 5 is expected to be around the 42,000-ticket mark on Thursday morning, and the hope is on the film to showcase a better movement on the final day and clock a final pre-sale around the 1,25,000-ticket mark. The pricing of Housefull 5 is a lot higher than Raid 2, and a final advance in the north of 1,15,000 ticket mark will keep it in the race to be in the range of Rs 20 crore to Rs 25 crore on day one. Though one must note that HF is a much bigger franchise than Raid, and hence, better performance is the least that one can expect. Miraj on the other hand has sold approx. 2500 tickets for Housefull 5 at the same time, whereas the presales at MovieMax and Rajhans stands at 1200 tickets and 1500 tickets respectively. The advances outside of PVRInox and Cinepolis are better, but there's still a long way to go and the film will be looking to gain momentum in the last 36 hours. The biggest plus for Housefull 5 rests in the advances for Saturday and Sunday in the chains, which means that if the reports come in favour, the film will definitely see a big surge in collections. In the national chains, the Akshay Kumar starrer has sold 16,000 tickets for Saturday (Bakri Eid) and 12,000 tickets for Sunday and this should see a bigger surge on Friday, if the reports of 'entertaining content' come into play. The things at the moment are not so impressive, but there is a hope for a franchise comedy as big as Housefull 5 to pick up the pace in pre-sales and reach a number on the first day, that lays the platform for the film to pose a good result over the 3-day weekend. However, the trend has continued to stay all through May with some numbers coming in at the box office. While 'Raid 2' continued to dominate at the screens after releasing on May 1, the momentum continued with 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning' which released on May 17 followed by 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' on May 23. Here's a detailed box office analysis of May and these movies: Raid 2 is a HIT 'Raid 2' is now nearing its lifetime run at the box office and the film has collected Rs 168.74 crore till its Day 33 now which is Monday, June 2. Mission Impossible nearing the Rs 100 crore mark Just as 'Raid 2' was beginning to lose its steam, one saw the release of Tom Cruise starrer 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Promoções imperdíveis de voos baratos Voos | Anúncios de Pesquisa Saiba Mais Undo The movie has collected Rs 91.1 crore net in India which is a huge number and soon it's nearing the Rs 100 crore mark. Out of this, the maximum collection has come from the English version followed by the Hindi version. The film released on May 17 in India and turned out to be one of the biggest Hollywood openers. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh told ETimes, "Good films will always find an audience. Mission Impossible and Final Destination - one came on Thursday and the Tom Cruise film came on Saturday. Both the films have found an audience, of course Mission Impossible has found a bigger audience. But it's a good sign as people are coming back to theatres." Film trade expert Girish Wankhede opined, "The release of 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' has marked a significant resurgence for Hollywood in India, signaling a potential revival of interest in Hollywood amidst a landscape increasingly dominated by South Indian films. Paramount's strategic decision to debut the film six days ahead of its U.S. release has paid off handsomely, as Indian audiences eagerly anticipated this latest installment of the iconic franchise. It is the highest opening day of a Hollywood film in 2025, surpassing even the much-anticipated 'Captain America: Brave New World.' 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' emerges strong after all the conflict There was a huge conflict around the release of 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' as the makers got into a legal battle with PVR Inox. Eventually, the film didn't release on OTT and hit the theatres on May 23. It had a great opening number on Day 1 owing to the discounted ticket prices, however, it continued to remain decently well even after the opening day. The total collection of the film so far, by the end of 11 days, is Rs 60.63 crore according to Sacnilk. PVR Inox CEO had rubbished reports that the film is doing well only because of discounted ticket prices and said that it's genuinely doing well. He also spoke about how May is good month for cinemas. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Some wrote off #BhoolChukMaaf citing 'discount offers' or 'lack of appeal'😇 The box office tells a very different story — it's a genuine HIT💥 May has revived theatres, audiences are back in big numbers, and the big screens are booming all over the country." Summing up May! Clearly, with three big releases, May has been a great month for the box office. A cumulative number of these three biggies comes when added together comes to Rs 320.47 crore which is huge! Taran Adarsh agrees that May has been a massive month for the movies and highly encouraging. Wankhede explains that the Month has been good at the box office, also considering the south movies. He says, "May 2025 has proven to be an exceptional month for the Indian film industry, showcasing a remarkable blend of Bollywood, South Indian cinema, and Hollywood productions, all of which have achieved impressive box office results. The month kicked off with a blockbuster opening week, highlighted by the film 'Raid 2' which garnered a staggering ₹231 crores worldwide. This film's success set a positive tone for the month, drawing in audiences with its compelling storyline and star-studded cast. Following closely was the Tamil film 'Tourist Family,' which made an impressive mark by raking in around ₹87 crores." He adds, "In addition, the Telugu film 'Hit 3' continued the momentum by achieving a commendable ₹119 crores, further underscoring the strength of regional films in the Indian market. Another Tamil release 'Retro' also made headlines by generating approximately ₹97 crores, demonstrating the diverse tastes of Indian audiences and their willingness to embrace quality storytelling, regardless of the language. " Wankhede continues, "As the month progressed, two major Hollywood franchises debuted in the third week, further enriching the cinematic offerings available to Indian viewers. 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' managed to captivate audiences, amassing around ₹90 crores despite facing limited screen availability. Meanwhile, another Hollywood title, 'Final Destination,' also performed admirably, securing ₹55 crores in its run. The fact that it achieved such numbers with fewer screens speaks volumes about the draw of established franchises and the loyalty of their fanbases." June to be even bigger? Adarsh says, "I'm not considering the dubbed versions but there are three major releases in June - 'Housefull 5', 'Sitaare Zameen Par' and 'Maa'. So, one only hopes that June should be even bigger. We can be optimistic." 'Housefull 5' has really high expectations as it's set to release on June 6. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Nana Patekar, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, Fardeen Khan, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Johnny Lever among many others. 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is Aamir Khan's big comeback after 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and the hopes from this one are also really high. Meanwhile, Kajol will be seen in a mythological horror film 'Maa' and it's from the house of 'Shaitaan'. The trailer has got a great response. Apar from the new releases, 'Mission Impossible' also continues to spill over in June and will now inch towards the Rs 100 crore mark, thus will contribute to the June numbers as well. Raid 2 Lifetime Worldwide Box Office: Ajay Devgn led crime-drama to end its WINNING theatrical run with a strong Rs 219 crore globally
Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 is at the fag end of its winning theatrical run. The crime-drama sequel, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, has cemented Ajay Devgn 's reputation as a bankable star in the post-pandemic era. With a worldwide gross of Rs 219 crore, Raid 2 is a bonafied box office hit. Raid 2 Opened To Strong Numbers At The Indian Box Office, Despite Competition From Regional Biggies Raid 2 kicked off with a bang, collecting Rs 19.25 crore net on its opening day in India. The opening was solid, driven by Ajay Devgn's star power and the goodwill of the 2018 original, Raid. The film struck a chord with audiences, particularly in the mass centres. Despite competition from regional biggies, Raid 2 maintained a steady run. Raid 2 Is Set To End Its India Run Netting Rs 162 Crore The movie eyes a Rs 162 crore net India finish. This equates to a gross collection of Rs 194.50 crore. Positive word-of-mouth and a tight narrative ensured Raid 2 held its ground in theaters. For a mid-budget film, this is a commendable result. Raid 2 Does Reasonably Internationally Raid 2 also found traction in international markets, grossing Rs 24.50 crore overseas. While the film primarily targeted the Indian diaspora, it collected reasonably from international markets. Though not a massive figure compared to bigger Bollywood exports, the Rs 24.50 crore overseas gross is a solid addition to the film's global performance. Combining domestic and international figures, Raid 2 closed its theatrical run with a worldwide gross of Rs 219 crore. This places it firmly in the hit category at the box office. The film's success is particularly notable in the post-pandemic era, where audience turnout for Bollywood films has been unpredictable. Brand Ajay Devgn Shines On Ajay Devgn deserves applause for his stellar post-pandemic theatrical run. After delivering hits like Drishyam 2 and Shaitaan, he has once again proven his box office mettle with Raid 2. Even Singham Again, despite its underperformance, netted Rs 240 crore in India. At a time when many films struggle to pull audiences to theaters, Devgn's ability to deliver successes every year is remarkable. Raid 2 shall stream on digital by the end of June. What is your thought on the box office of Raid 2?
