Iran tightens airspace restrictions again
2 July 2025 20:20 TEHRAN (dpa)Iran has unexpectedly reversed its easing of restrictions on air traffic over the "security checks in the current situation," the airspace over the centre and western part of the country has been closed to international flights again, the broadcaster SNN reported on Wednesday, citing a ministry civil aviation authority had granted initial relaxations and some overflight permits in recent airport in Tehran, the main destination for international flights, remains closed. The closure will remain in effect until at least Thursday at 2 pm local time, it tracking portal Flightradar recorded a few isolated flights in eastern Iran. Iran closed its airspace on June 13 when Israeli attacks began. A ceasefire has now been in place for a week.

Iran's western and central airspace closed to international flights, ministry says
Iran's western and central airspace is closed to international transit flights for safety reasons while the country's eastern airspace is open to flights, Iran's SNN cited a spokesperson for the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development as saying on Wednesday. Internal and external flight cancellations in the northern, southern and western parts of the country have been extended until Thursday 14:00 local time, SNN added.
