‘What a night' – Henry Shefflin among GAA stars at Oasis gigs where Man City tradition made its Croke Park debut

There was a VIP guest for the Dublin leg of Oasis' sold-out tour CHEF'S KISS 'What a night' – Henry Shefflin among GAA stars at Oasis gigs where Man City tradition made its Croke Park debut OASIS had the home of Gaelic Games rocking - with even a Manchester City soccer tradition becoming part of the fun. It was a champagne and fireworks supernova as the Manchester rockers put on incredible shows on consecutive nights over the weekend. 5 Kilkenny hurling greats Henry Shefflin and Jackie Tyrrell were delighted to be there Credit: @hshefflin 5 As was former Dublin football ace Paddy Andrews Credit: @ Advertisement 5 Andrews labelled it an 'iconic' gig Credit: @ 5 His former teammate Kevin McManamon has a fine singing voice himself Credit: @kevmc15 Countless videos of sold-out crowds revelling in both occasions have lit up everyone's social media feeds with them looking to be unforgettable events for anyone who was lucky enough to snag a ticket. Our favourite even saw attendees 'doing the Poznan' celebration that's become popularised over the last decade by Man City fans. Advertisement On Saturday Liam and Noel Gallgher's Irish mum Peggy — the woman who made their reunion finally happen — got a shout out before they played Stand by Me. Mammy's boy Liam declared: 'I wanna play this one to me mam, me mam's in tonight!' And some might say punters went mad for it as they sung every word of every song. From the Hogan Stand right round to the Cusack Stand, they nearly drowned out their heroes, singing along to the anthems, mostly taken from their two biggest selling albums Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory. Advertisement The reunited brothers belted out some of their best known hits including Supersonic, Cigarettes and Alcohol, Wonderwall, Cast No Shadow, Whatever and Don't Look Back in Anger. Croker was a sea of bucket hats and Adidas T-shirts, worn by a mix of middle-aged couples who saw Oasis the first time round, and new fans who discovered them after they split, now overcome with excitement to be seeing them for the first time. Many punters had forked out inflated prices to get their hands on prized tickets due to dynamic pricing amid massive demand when they went on sale last year. But on both nights no one cared how much it set them back to be there to witness a piece of music history. Oasis lights up Dublin sky It was worth every cent as the hairs stood up on the backs of necks as they witnessed their favourite band playing the tunes that defined a generation. Advertisement As the gig ended and the epic Champage Supernova track started to play, Liam told the crowd he had to "go to bed". Despite Oasis failing to crack America during their heyday, many fans had jetted into Dublin from places like Texas, Philadelphia, Boston, Albuquerque and Miami. Huge prices for the Croke Park shows didn't put off hundreds of fans travelling from the States. 5 Shane Walsh's girlfriend Rachel Molloy joked he was on 'backing vocals' in this clip Credit: @shaneeeeeyy One diehard, Angelo Santa Lucia, from Miami, Florida, claimed it was cheaper to see Oasis in Ireland than back in America. Advertisement He said: 'The ticket pricing in the US, it's just the wild west because they can sell the tickets for whatever they want, and people will respect those prices. It's much better here.' Other US fans said they wanted to see Oasis in Dublin because they thought the atmosphere would be more special. And it was hard to argue as the 80,000 crowd belted out 'You and I are gonna Live Forever' as the band sang the 1994 indie classic. Noel Gallagher clearly enjoyed his second appearance at Croke Park after playing there for Manchester GAA club Oisin's Club against Kilmacrud Crokes in 1983 at the age of 16.

Prince Royce runs on 'old-school' workouts, video games and action TV

In USA TODAY's The Essentials, celebrities share what fuels their lives, whether it's at home, on set, or on the road. As far as Prince Royce is concerned, the mark of a great song is that it "lasts a lifetime." The multiplatinum Latin pop star, who broke out in the early 2010s with his charming bilingual rendition of the Ben E. King classic "Stand by Me," is tipping his hat to the greats once more on his latest album "Eterno" (out now). The singer reimagines pop standards from the likes of Elvis Presley, the Bee Gees, Backstreet Boys and others with his signature bachata style. But for Royce, it's about more than just throwback jams: "As an artist ... you want to put out music that could go through generations and that can fit in other genres and rhythms and hopefully can just cross the globe." Royce, who grew up in a Dominican family in New York City, says these tropical-infused covers not only "show love and respect" to the original hits but also allow him to share a slice of his bicultural heritage with fans of varying backgrounds. "I grew up listening to American music, but I also grew up listening to Latin music in Spanish and English, and that's just my upbringing, all these rhythms in one place," Royce, 36, says. "And I kind of can bring that mix of my upbringing to (Dominican Republic), to American people, to people who know both languages." Music isn't the only esencial in Royce's life. The singer dishes on some of his beloved staples, from video games and daily workouts to action-packed TV. Prince Royce stays fit with 'old-school' workouts, 'sweet' dog Ruby Who needs a gym buddy when you have man's best friend? Royce stays in shape with a series of daily workouts that span "old-school" weight training with metal free weights to outdoor runs and golfing. As for warming up, the singer gets his blood pumping with morning walks with his Belgian Malinois dog Ruby. "The physical aspect just forces me to be healthier, to wake up early," says Royce of his exercise regimen. "Subconsciously, I wouldn't stay out drinking all night because I know I got to walk my dog and go to the gym, get up early and grind." Royce, who's "never really been that much of a dog person," gushes about his canine pal. "It's like a military dog," he says with a laugh. "She's like 70 pounds. It's my first big dog, but she's a sweet girl." "Originally, it was more like, 'let's get a dog to protect the house' type of vibe," Royce adds. "We kind of got lucky. … We read all these things online that said Belgian Malinois are crazy and they'll eat up everything in the house, but she's been good so far." 10 bingeable memoirs to check out: Celebrities tell all about aging, marriage and Beyoncé Prince Royce is all about the action for gaming, TV faves Royce doesn't play when it comes to his screen time. A self-described "big gamer," Royce often turns to video games as a travel pastime during long flights and hotel stays. Some of his favorites include the action franchises Call of Duty ("It's always the game that never ends") and Assassin's Creed. The singer's love of gaming extends beyond the console. When it comes to TV, Royce has been watching video game adaptations such as "The Last of Us" and "Fallout," with the latter blowing him away with its faithfulness to the game. "The way that they would play classical music while they're blowing something up and people are getting shot up, that's how the game actually was,' he says. "Those things kind of hype me up." Additionally, the Prime Video series' canine protagonist CX404, a Belgian Malinois, was the catalyst for Royce getting his dog Ruby. "It's also the same dog from 'John Wick,' and I like 'John Wick,' too. So then when I saw it in 'Fallout,' I'm like, 'That's it. I'm getting the badass dog.'" Prince Royce is grooving to deep house and this Drake album For Royce, there doesn't have to be a party to keep the beat going. The "Stuck on a Feeling" hitmaker has been listening to the pulsating grooves of deep house, a subgenre of house music known for its ambient and soul influences. "I've always liked it," Royce says, adding that the genre is perfect for "chilling by the pool on a Sunday or on a boat or just at home." "It's kind of chill vibes but still up-tempo." Royce's playlist is also bumping with Bad Bunny's reggaeton banger "Velda," taken from his latest album "Debi Tirar Mas Fotos," as well as the Drake and PartyNextDoor collaboration record "$ome $exy $ongs 4 U." "I'm a big Drake fan in general," he says. "That album was pretty cool." Prince Royce nerds out with self-help books, documentaries Royce isn't one for passive entertainment, whether it's the pages of a book or his channel-surfing destinations. The Latin Grammy-nominated singer recently finished reading "Be Water, My Friend: The Teachings of Bruce Lee" by Shannon Lee, a self-help biography he says he appreciated for its "motivational" exploration of the late martial arts icon's Zen philosophy: "You put water in a cup, and it just transforms into whatever shape of that cup. It kind of molds into whatever situation." "If I'm going to listen to something, or if I'm going to read something, I really hope that I'm reading something that can make me a better person or better my business or family," Royce says. Royce's thirst for knowledge also influences his viewing choices, citing documentaries as a favorite film genre. "I like learning something," he says. "I'll watch random animal documentaries on the History Channel or something, and those things sometimes interest me more than regular movies."

Jaws star, 77, cancels appearance after hospitalisation in 'a lot of pain'

Jaws actor Richard Dreyfuss was forced to cancel a fan convention appearance after being hospitalised over the weekend. The 77-year-old actor, who played sceptical oceanographer Matt Hooper in Steven Spielberg's 1975 horror classic, was due to appear at the National Geographic-sponsored SharkCon in Florida. However, in a video shared to the convention's Instagram, he revealed he was pulling out of the appearance after getting diagnosed with viral bronchitis. In a video from his hospital bed, Richard said: 'Hello cons, I'm very, very sorry to tell you that I've been diagnosed with viral bronchitis. And I've been told by my doctors I cannot fly, and I would have to fly five hours to get there. 'I'm terribly sorry because I had planned to be there and had been looking forward to it.' The themed event – which was focused on shark shows and films – took place at Florida State Fairgrounds Expo in Tampa, where Richard was set for photo ops and autograph signings. In his video message, Richard added that he 'didn't want to get anyone else sick'. He said: 'I feel terrible about not showing up, and I'd feel worse about exposing you to this apparently very viral illness. 'But there will be other times and I will make it my business to show up and I want to wish you all good luck and happiness.' Richard, who sparked a fierce backlash last year after a rant against the MeToo movement and LGBTQ+ rights, admitted to being 'in a lot of pain' and insisted that his health was his top priority. The Stand by Me star jokingly added: 'I want you all to feel very sorry for me. And very sorry for yourselves. I'm in a lot of pain, and that has to come first, my health, and I feel very good about having the time and enough health.' According to the NHS, symptoms include: High temperature Cough, and possibly coughing up clear, white, yellow or green mucus Chest pain when coughing Shortness of breath Sore throat Runny nose SharkCon has also offered an apology to fans, and confirmed: 'All prepaid autographs and photo ops will automatically be refunded. There is no reason to reach out. 'It will take 5-10 business days plus what your bank takes for them to be processed. We are so sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you.' More Trending Hollywood star Sharon Stone has already expressed her support for her showbiz pal, encouraging Richard to 'give [her] a hug'. The 67-year-old actress wrote online: 'Honey, feel better. The world is not good without you then come over and give me a hug.' Richard wasn't the only star from the Jaws franchise booked for the event. Others at the convention included Jaws stars Jeffrey Voorhees, Jonathan and Steven Searle, and Carla Hogendy, Jaws 2 actors John Dukakis and G. Thomas Dunlop, and Jaws 3-D castmembers John Putch, Jackie Kuntarich Cook and Liz Smith. Got a story? Oasis fans are only just realising Liam Gallagher's ‘real name' after reunion tour kicks off

super-moniker Oasis fans are only just realising Liam Gallagher's 'real name' after reunion tour kicks off FANS are going wild after only just clocking what Liam Gallagher's actual name is. After chanting the Oasis frontman's name - people have been left stumped after discovering his birth name isn't Liam. 4 Fans have been left surprised after noticing what Liam's real name is Credit: Getty 4 The Oasis icons have reunited finally for their world tour Credit: Instagram The 52-year-old rock 'n' roller was in fact born William John Paul Gallagher. His Irish parents Thomas and Peggy shortened it to the moniker - with Liam being the Irish diminutive form of William. The singer's middle names John and Paul could be a nod to their musical heroes The Beatles. Baffled fans wrote on social media: "I've only just realised that Liam is short for William." A second added: "Oh I had no idea about that!" A third bemused fan questioned his middle names and wrote: "Maybe it's something to do with Peggy being Irish? John and Paul are popular names due to being in the bible." Liam and brother Noel, 58, reunited after 16 years for their long-awaited tour opener in Cardiff, wowing fans with their performance. The brothers sent fans into a frenzy with a set list including classics such as Stand by Me, Wonderwall, Live Forever and Half The World Away. Noel and Liam played a whopping 23 songs from their impressive back catalogue as well as Roll With It and Don't Look Back in Anger. The music legends held arms as they made their emotional return to the stage and proved that the siblings have finally 'made peace' with each other. Liam Gallagher's heartwarming tribute during Oasis gig revealed - but did you spot it? As well as the 74,500 at the stadium, more than 1.3million fans watched live streams — with around 750,000 people tuning in on YouTube and a further 550,000 on TikTok and Instagram. Noel's 25-year-old daughter Anais was in the crowds as she rocked out to her uncle and dad's numerous hit tracks. Anais' mother Meg Mathews, who was married to Noel from 1997 until 2001, was also present at the concert. Fans were treated to performances by Cast, a Britpop band from Liverpool, and The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft before the Gallagher brothers smashed out their set. It's thought the superstars stayed at separate hotels after their opening reunion tour gig. Liam's partner Debbie Gwyther has been pivotal in keeping him focused ahead of the reunion dates and off the booze. Oasis played another night in Cardiff before moving on to Heaton Park in their native Manchester for five nights. Then the band heads to Wembley Stadium for five nights from July 25 and then on to Edinburgh and Dublin, with the first part of their UK leg ending at Croke Park on August 17. Oasis then heads over Canada and America for gigs in Toronto, Chicago, LA and Mexico City before returning to London for two more dates at Wembley at the end of September. They then move on to Asia, Australia and South America, finally ending their tour on November 23 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
