Street Fighter Movie Finds Its Live-Action Guile Actor

The live-action cast is growing yet again, with a new report suggesting that a WWE superstar has joined the film as Guile. According to a new report from Nexus Point News, WWE superstar Cody Rhodes is currently in talks to play the role of Guile. Guile first appeared in 1991's Street Fighter II, and has since become one of the more iconic characters in the franchise. He's best known for his legendary flat-top hair style, iconic theme song, and his militaristic outfits, as his character is a colonel in the United States Air Force. Should Rhodes get the role, the former Undisputed WWE Champion would be joining another WWE icon in the movie, as Akuma is rumored to be played by none other than Joe Anoa'i, also known as Roman Reigns. The cast of the upcoming Street Fighter movie features a star-studded group, including Andrew Koji as Ryu, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Noah Centineo as Ken, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Orville Peck as Vega, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, and Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson as Balrog. Production on the film is expected to begin in Australia this coming August. Plot details remain under wraps at this time. Legendary Entertainment is co-developing and co-producing the project alongside Capcom. A release date for the Street Fighter movie has not yet been set. (Source: Nexus Point News)

Street Fighter Movie Adds Legendary Rapper as Balrog

Legendary Entertainment has officially enlisted a Grammy-winning rapper to join highly anticipated movie, based on Capcom's popular video game series. At the moment, the project currently has no official release date yet. Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson has been tapped to portray the role of disgraced boxer Balrog, who's described the bodyguard of the villain. The character was previously played by Grand L. Bush in the 1994 adaptation, and Michael Clarke Duncan in 2009's The Legend of Chun-Li. Jackson is reportedly planning to do his own stunts for the project. This marks the rapper-actor's latest high-profile movie, after previously starring in 2023's Expend4bles and the Escape Plan franchise. The upcoming Street Fighter movie will be directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) from a screenplay written by Dalan Musson. The game follows an ensemble of fighters, one of which is Chun-Li, as they battle it out in a one-on-one global fighting tournament. The ensemble cast will also include Andrew Koji (Snake Eyes, Warrior) as Ryu, Noah Centineo (The Recruit, Warfare) as Ken, Jason Momoa (Aquaman, Fast X), former WWE champ Roman Reigns (Hobbs & Shaw), Callina Liang (Presence) as Chun-Li and Orville Peck as Vega. Sakurai is no stranger to adapting video games, as he previously directed episodes of the Peacock series Twisted Metal. Further details about the project's plot are still under wraps. Before Sakurai boarded the project, Talk to Me and Bring Her Back directing duo Danny and Michael Philippou were previously enlisted to direct the movie. (Source: Nexus Point News)

Street Fighter Cast Finds Its Chun-Li for Live-Action Movie

The live-action movie has added another fighter to its cast, naming the actress who is set to play the iconic Chun-Li. The new Street Fighter movie previously enlisted Bad Trip's Kitao Sakurai as director after Danny and Michael Philippou (Talk to Me) dropped out of the project. It is based on Capcom's media franchise, which is hailed as one of the world's most popular and enduring video games. The game follows an ensemble of fighters, one of which is Chun-Li, as they battle it out in a one-on-one global fighting tournament. Callina Liang has been tapped to star as Chun-Li, a skilled martial artist and an Interpol officer who was first introduced in 1991's Street Fighter II. Liang (known for Tell Me Everything, Bad Genius, and Presence) will be joining previously announced Andrew Koji (Snake Eyes, Warrior) as Ryu, Noah Centineo (The Recruit, Warfare) as Ken, Jason Momoa (Aquaman, Fast X), former WWE champ Roman Reigns (Hobbs & Shaw), and Orville Peck. Capcom launched its first-ever Street Fighter fighting game in 1987, with 2023's Street Fighter 6 serving as the latest entry. Its popularity has spanned over three decades beyond the video game realm. Apart from animation and comics, the franchise has also received a slew of live-action iterations. This includes Street Fighter (1994), Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009), Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist (2014), and Street Fighter: Resurrection (2016). Actresses who previously starred as the iconic female video game character, Chun-Li, are Ming‑Na Wen (The Book of Boba Fett), Kristin Kreuk (Smallville), and Gemma Nguyen. Plot details for Sakurai's Street Fighter film remain under wraps at this time. (Source: Deadline)

Street Fighter Cast Finds Its Dan Hibiki for Live-Action Movie

The live-action movie has reportedly cast the Dan Hibiki role. Legendary Entertainment is currently working on a Street Fighter movie, based on Capcom's popular video game series. The movie will be directed by Kitao Sakurai, who previously made 2021's Bad Trip. According to Deadline, Dan Hibiki will be played by Andrew Schulz in the Street Fighter movie. 'First appearing in Street Fighter Alpha in 1995, Hibiki is consistently portrayed as an overconfident, arrogant, and utterly feeble character,' the article notes. 'The role seems perfect for Schulz, given his comedic background that has made him one of today's biggest stand-up acts. While this role will lean heavy on the comedy, don't be surprised if Schulz gets a chance to throw down like his fellow co-stars.' Schulz is a comedian and podcaster who has often received backlash for his controversial jokes. He has previously starred in movies such as 2019's Feast of the Seven Fishers, 2023's You People, 2023's White Men Can't Jump, 2024's The Underdoggs, 2024's The Thicket, and more. Additionally, Schulz stars in Shane Gillis' Netflix comedy series, Tires, which premiered its second season earlier this month. He also dropped a new Netflix comedy special on the streaming service, Andrew Schulz: Life, earlier this month. The cast of the Street Fighter movie also includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Orville Peck as Vega, and Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson as Balrog. Production on the film is expected to begin in Australia this coming August. Plot details remain under wraps at this time. Legendary Entertainment is co-developing and co-producing the project alongside Capcom. A release date for the Street Fighter movie has not yet been set.
