Sony Music unveils new singer Nazu, who brews up a fresh flavour with debut single 'Kopi'

The country's top record label, Sony Music Malaysia, proudly unveils a fresh face in the local music scene: Nazu, a 20-year-old singer-songwriter who brings something new and refreshing to the table. Marking her official debut under the international label, Nazu unveils her self-written single 'KOPI', a dreamy, easygoing pop tune that speaks directly to the hearts of today's listeners. 'I wrote this song just for fun back in secondary school. I never imagined it would become my first official single one day. It's honest, chill, and reflects who I am as a singer,' says Nazu, about the song that marks the beginning of her artistic journey. From TikTok To The Recording Studio Nazu, whose real name is Nor Azureen Saharin, began singing at the young age of seven, influenced by family members who also shared a love for music. However, her musical journey took a real turn when her TikTok cover of the song 'Masa' went viral — racking up over a million views in just one week. That was the moment everything changed. 'When that video took off, I felt more confident about sharing my music. And when Sony Music offered me a recording deal, I was just overwhelmed with gratitude. This is a dream come true!' she shares. Now a full-time singer, Nazu is ready to take her next steps as one of Malaysia's most exciting new voices. 'KOPI' – Fictional, But Relatable Set against the relaxed backdrop of a cosy café, KOPI tells the whimsical story of a shy, daydreaming girl who catches the attention of a stranger. Though fictional, the story is filled with Nazu's signature charm and character. 'It's about a lonely girl who loves to daydream, hangs out at cafés, and is a huge coffee lover. Then suddenly, a guy takes an interest in her. And that's how the lyric idea came about — 'suka matcha atau suka kopi, kalau pilih kopi, baik kopi-lih aku' (do you prefer matcha or coffee? If it's coffee, you better choose me),' Nazu laughs. 'I like writing cheeky, playful lines, so I thought — why not write a song with a pick-up line?' Collaboration With Fahimi & Ezra Kong Produced by acclaimed music producer Ezra Kong, the track also features rising singer and content creator Fahimi, who lends his vocals and co-wrote parts of the lyrics. 'Fahimi helped build my confidence in the studio, while Ezra guided me through arrangements and lyrical choices. As my first-ever studio recording, the experience was incredibly valuable,' Nazu recalls. Despite being a newcomer, Nazu completed the entire recording process in just two smooth sessions. Shaping Her Own Sound As a young artist, Nazu is not limiting herself to any one genre. Instead, she views every release as a journey of self-discovery. 'I'm still figuring out my musical identity, but one thing I know for sure is that I want my songs to have personality and soul. I want to sound like me — not like anyone else,' she said. Still, navigating the industry at a young age comes with its own set of challenges. 'There are times I feel unsure about speaking up for what I like or don't like, but I'm lucky to have the support of my family and the amazing team at Sony Music who always encourage me,' she adds. Next Steps & Hopes For 'KOPI' Nazu is already working on her next single, with the writing process currently underway. 'I'm writing something new right now and hope to bring a different vibe with my next release. But most importantly, I want to stay true to myself in every song,' she shares. For now, she hopes KOPI will strike a chord with listeners. 'I hope this song makes people feel calm or even smile to themselves. Whether you're feeling down, in love, or just need a pick-me-up — this one's for you. I'm so thankful to everyone who's supported me from the start,' says Nazu with heartfelt gratitude. NOTE: 'KOPI' is now available on all major digital streaming platforms, including Spotify, Joox, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.

Chase Sui Wonders confirms Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot role

Chase Sui Wonders had a lot of "fun" working on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot. The 29-year-old actress has landed a mystery role on the upcoming series after befriending Sarah Michelle Gellar - who reprises her role as Buffy Summers - and she was thrilled to be part of the project. She told Deadline: 'Sarah Michelle Geller is just such a force to be reckoned with. We became fast friends on I Know What You Did last Summer. She's an incredible woman and just a cool person, and she asked me if I wanted to do it. "Then she told me about Chloé Zhao directing and [Nora and Lilla Zuckerman] showrunning. And then Eric Kissack, who is actually our editor on The Studio, is also editing the Buffy series.' The Studio actress didn't share any details about her role, but the outlet reports it is a one-off guest appearance and the character's name is Shirley. Chase added: 'What I can say is that it's a very fun way to enter this series, and [Sarah] is on set every day, from as soon as we start to when we wrap. She's very hands on.' Since signing on for the reboot, the actress has gone back to watch the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. She said: 'I've watched the entirety of the [original] series, so I'm really living inside Sunnydale at the moment. It's very cool and surreal to see young Sarah Michelle just be a total bada**, which I knew, but it's cool to see that she's been a bada** for a long time. 'It's the dream to bring back a show like this, to have someone who was there day in and day out and through the origin of the series, be the consultant. She's the onset consultant for all kinds of things of like, how do you react to these types of vampires, or how does someone react to a bite, and all the lore she's got stored in her brain. So, it's very helpful.'

Martin Scorsese Considered Violent Tactic to Steal 'Taxi Driver' From Studio

Martin Scorsese Considered Violent Tactic to Steal 'Taxi Driver' From Studio originally appeared on Parade. Martin Scorsese revealed the surprising lengths he was willing to take to make sure that his version of Taxi Driver was on the final cut. In a first-look clip from the the upcoming five-part Apple TV+ documentary Mr. Scorsese, Scorsese, 82, and friend Steven Spielberg discussed how Columbia Pictures was concerned about some of the bloody content in the movie. The production studio almost even stopped Scorsese's vision from appearing in theaters. "Marty was very upset," Spielberg, 78, said in the beginning of the clip. "I get a call at the office, and he said (imitating Scorsese's hyper New York City accent), 'Steve, Steve, this is Marty. Can you come over to the house.'" Scorsese added, "They wanted me to cut all the blood spurting. They wanted me to cut the guy who loses the hand …" When an interviewer offscreen asked if he had a gun, Scorsese responded, "I was going to get one." The interviewer asked Scorsese what he was "going to do what with the gun," and he admitted that he didn't have a solid plan. I said I was going to threaten them … I'll maybe just shoot or something. I had no idea. I mean, I was just threatening. What I wanted to do, and not with a gun, I would go in, find out where the rough cut is, and break the windows and take it away," Scorsese said. "They were going to destroy the film anyway, you know. So let me destroy it. I'll destroy it. But before destroying it, I'm going to steal it." He continued, "Spielberg said, 'Marty, stop that. Marty you can't do that.' I said… The more they said no, the more I said I was going to do it." Spielberg then shared that someone came up with a plan to "mollify" the MPAA [Motion Picture Association of America], in which Scorsese toned down the bloodiness of the offending sequence with the color of the scene. "He just had to take the color red down to a kind of brown," Spielberg explained. Once the 1976 film was released, it was critically acclaimed and was nominated for best picture at the Academy Awards. Additionally, stars Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster earned acting nods. Tour The East London Office of an Architecture Communications Studio

In one of a few quiet spaces in East London's Shoreditch, architecture communications studioSALThas opened the doors to its new office space, which has been designed byTHISS Studio. With a brief to use 'as much reused material as possible', the design studio set about creating an open plan office that could transition into an event space or photography studio, with waste-saving solutions at its core. Expert-level scavenging was employed, with anything no longer needed being rehomed. The giant tables around which the space is centered are made from old steel catering tables, with the legs cut down to size and placed on casters. A worktop was crafted from leftover cork and white American oak trim – both saved from landfill. Rather than having a fixed meeting room, spaces are created with a huge linen curtain by London-based textile designerGeorgia Bosson, who sourced the end-of-roll fabric from an Irish mill. If not made from scratch from scrap material, furniture is second-hand, such as the bookcase shelving, which came via Gumtree and was once used in a butcher's. Colour is introduced across the columns and beams, which were coated in a rust-toned hue by sustainable paint brand Bleo. In a nod to the building's history, the floors have simply been sanded back and sealed with a matte varnish. 'We shared a commitment to minimising the use of virgin materials, and turning that ideal into reality required a collaborative, flexible design approach,' said Tamsin Hanke, Director at THISS Studio. 'The constraints actually became opportunities—introducing productive friction that sparked creativity and innovation, rather than assuming all materials were readily available.' 'Our new space is as much for our community as it is for SALT,' said Celeste Bolte, Founding Director at SALT. Head to the gallery above to take a look around.
