Microsoft announces Surface Laptop 5G for Business
Microsoft has unveiled a new Surface Laptop 5G as part of its computing collection for business customers. The company said that a 5G option was in the works for its business line back in January when it unveiled other updates to the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop for Business, and this requested feature is intended to make the laptop an option that's both portable and connected. With a system of six internal antennas, the Surface 5G should be able to transition smoothly between WiFi and cellular networks, as well as acting as a mobile hotspot for other devices. As for the additional specs, the Surface 5G is a 13.8-inch machine kitted out with Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors. It promises a Neural Processing Unit of more than 40 trillion operations per second (TOPS) as required to be part of Microsoft's Copilot+ PC program. Pricing information was not shared at this stage, but the Surface Laptop 5G is slated to begin shipments on August 26.

Best Buy has Microsoft's affordable new 12-inch Surface Pro on sale at even lower prices
You know what device hasn't made any headlines during Amazon's otherwise all-encompassing Prime Day 2025 sales event last week? Microsoft's latest versatile Surface Pro tablet, which was formally unveiled just a couple of months ago as a lighter, more compact, and cheaper "cousin" of the 2024-released 11th Gen powerhouse with a 13-inch screen rather than a true and upgraded sequel of that thing. Despite its very young age and decidedly compelling normal price, this new iPad Pro rival with a 12-inch "PixelSense" display in tow and an octa-core Snapdragon X Plus processor under the hood is now marked down at Best Buy in two different configurations. $100 off (13%) Wi-Fi Only, 256GB Storage, 16GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus Processor, 12-Inch Touchscreen with 2196 x 1464 Pixel Resolution and 90Hz Refresh Rate Technology, Windows 11, Windows Hello Face Authentication Camera, 10MP Rear-Facing Camera, 2W Stereo Speakers with Dolby Atmos Support, All-Day Battery Life, Two USB-C Ports, Platinum Color Buy at BestBuy $100 off (11%) Wi-Fi Only, 512GB Storage, 16GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus Processor, 12-Inch Touchscreen with 2196 x 1464 Pixel Resolution and 90Hz Refresh Rate Technology, Windows 11, Windows Hello Face Authentication Camera, 10MP Rear-Facing Camera, 2W Stereo Speakers with Dolby Atmos Support, All-Day Battery Life, Two USB-C Ports, Two Color Options Buy at BestBuy While the entry-level 256GB storage variant can be had for $699.99 instead of its $799.99 list price, bumping up that local digital hoarding room to 512 gigs will set you back, you guessed it, $799.99 after a cool discount of $100. Now, I realize that markdown may not sound mind-blowing (because it's not), especially compared to some of the price cuts received by multiple Surface Pro (2024) models over the last six months or so. But at $699.99, this bad boy is currently (a lot) cheaper than Samsung's 12.4-inch Galaxy Tab S10 Plus, not to mention both the 11 and 13-inch iPad Pros with M4 power released by Apple last year. Of course, one could argue that the 12-inch Surface Pro (2025) is primarily designed to compete against Apple's 2025 iPad Airs rather than the absolute best tablets money can buy right now. And Microsoft withstands that comparison pretty robustly too when you consider the 16 gigs of RAM paired with both 256 and 512GB internal storage space, as well as other respectable specs (at the very least) like a hefty battery capable of keeping the lights on for up to 16 hours (of local video playback) between charges, two USB Type-C ports, powerful stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, and a razor-thin 7.8mm profile (especially by Surface Pro standards). At the end of the day, your buying decision will depend in large part on your opinion of Windows as a mobile computing platform, but if you're a fan, you should definitely pull the trigger here before Best Buy inevitably bumps the latest Surface Pro back up to its regular prices. I found the best Prime Day deal on a tablet hidden beyond Amazon
A good tablet can take your productivity to the next level, but a boring one will find a niche use and eat dust on a table or couch for most of its time. I love iPads and have been pushing them – as far as I can — to act as my primary computing machine for nearly half a decade now. It has never managed to replace a proper laptop, like a MacBook Air or a Windows machine. Why not buy a Windows laptop, you might ask? Well, Windows-powered tablets, especially those Surface devices sold by Microsoft, are pretty expensive. I love the new 12-inch Surface Pro, but at $799, it felt like a steep purchase despite its impressive specifications. Recommended Videos As part of the Prime Day deals fest, its price has dropped by over 15%, bringing it down to just $685. Interestingly, the deal is not available on Amazon, but you will find it live on Walmart. And yeah, it will last just one more day, so you better rush and grab this bargain. Why is it my top pick? Well, for starters, the 12-inch Surface Pro offers fantastic hardware. Even if you compare it against Android tablets or iPads, the metallic build of the Surface tablet and its kickstand stand out. Plus, the curved sides make it easier to hold as the sharp edges don't dig into the palm. At just 686 grams, it's also pretty lightweight. On the more practical side of the debate, it comes with two USB-C ports, which means you won't always have to carry a dongle or hub on you. These are full-fledged USB-C ports that support 45W charging and can each handle a 4K monitor, as well. You can't get that combination even with the most powerful iPads. On a similar note, there's a dedicated slot at the back that magnetically holds the stylus so that you don't have to carry it separately. You also get stereo speakers, support for Windows Hello facial recognition sign-in (just like the iPad Pro), and NFC-based authentication, as well. As far as connectivity goes, the 12-inch Surface Pro offers the latest Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 combo. Overall, you will find it either surpassing your average tablet, or porting laptop conveniences into a slate form factor. Let's talk value I'll start with the obvious. You are getting the full-fledged Windows experience on the 12-inch Surface Pro. Yes, it's technically Windows on Arm, but you can easily run any desktop app you want or engage in a workflow that you would expect from a tablet. Or a proper mid-range laptop. The 12-inch Pixel Sense display on this tablet supports a 90Hz refresh rate, which is a neat perk that you won't even find on the pricier iPad Air. But what truly sets it apart is how quickly it can turn into a laptop without utterly destroying your wallet. And that can be attributed to two key factors. The versatility you get with Windows is far beyond what you can accomplish with iPadOS. Or Android. And it's nearly impossible to find a Windows tablet in such a small factor, so there's that. Of course, you would want a keyboard to get the best value out of this tablet, and that's where the value compounds. First, the Surface Keyboard for this 12-inch tablet costs just $149. The Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro will set you back by $299 at the very minimum. Second, let's talk firepower, where the Microsoft Surface tablet again hits above its weight class. You will find the Snapdragon X Plus inside this tablet, a mid-tier processor from within Qualcomm's laptop portfolio. This is the same chip that you will find fitted inside pricier machines such as the Surface Laptop, which costs $1,200 on an average day. It's a fairly powerful processor that I've tested in at least three laptops, and have been impressed by the snappy performance. Another crucial benefit is the memory situation. On the Surface Pro 12-inch, you get 16GB of RAM, while the competition from Apple will have you spending over twice to go from 8GB to 16GB of RAM. Likewise, the 256GB onboard storage isn't too shabby for a tablet, even though it's still constrained if you think of it as a proper Windows workhorse. Overall, if you've been eyeing a tablet, but wished it could do more, this machine is as good as it gets. At its current asking price, you simply shouldn't miss this one!

Here are the best deals from other retailers. Laptop and Tablet Deals It's very rare that we recommend a five year old laptop, but this MacBook Air is a lot of computer for the price. It's $50 off where we've seen it the rest of the year, and $400 off the price it was when it launched back in 2020. Look, it's almost 5 years old, if you can afford the extra $250, it's well worth buying the M4 MacBook Air, but if you're on a tight budget, this is probably the best laptop you can buy at this price. The Surface Pro 11th Edition offers great performance and battery life to match its excellent design and build quality. A true iPad Pro alternative for Windows users. With the latest Surface Pro keyboard, you can now even work while disconnected from the device. The Asus Chromebook CX15 is quite nice for this price. Its bezels aren't overly large, and the keyboard feels great to type on. These deals nets you 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The 1080p, 15-inch screen is nice and bright and easy to see. No one needs an iPad, but they're fun to have. These days, with support for conventional windowing (finally) you can justify it by saying you'll do some work on it. After you get done watching movies, thumbing through your social feeds, and messing around with Garageband. Tech Deals Lose stuff? Not anymore. This is the best tracker for Apple users. folks. Apple's special U1 location-finding chip helps you pinpoint the location of your keys, or whatever else you put them on, using the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad, or MacBook. JBL Flips are great speakers. The latest model (Flip 7) is the best, but at those price the Flip 6 is a good deal, in some ways better. It has support for PartyBoost, JBL's system for connecting multiple models in tandem, something that was dropped from the Flip 7. Did you dog chew up your Apple Pencil too? No? Just me I guess. I was excited to see this deal so I could get a new one without paying full price. Just make sure it's the right model for your iPad before you invest. Asus mesh systems are great because they come with free, comprehensive security software and parental controls (no subscription required). That's part of why this router is the top pick in our Best Mesh Routers guide. It's fast and stable, and will cover the average home. The Asus RT-AXE7800 is a tri-band router with support for the 6-GHz band, making it a smart choice for congested homes. If you crave control over your network and want a router that covers all the bases this deal is a good option. This is the best gaming mouse you can get for under $50. True, it does not have the extreme sensitivity of more expensive options, but so long as you're not an aspiring esports athlete, we don't think you need anything more. The Logitech G Pro X TKL is the best keyboard you can buy. The linear switches feel luxurious and we like that there's no number pad. This sale price makes it a must-buy if you're in the market for a gaming keyboard. This is our favorite USB flash drive. It's got speed and reliability at a great price (even better right now). The durable aluminum case has a loop you can use to put it on your key ring. This deal is going fast (smaller sizes are already sold out, but this and the larger version remain available). Want to embrace (or re-embrace) film photography without spending a fortune? Disposable cameras are the way to go. This one shoots Fujicolor 400 speed film, a good all-around color film that'll work indoors and out. Photograph: Scott Gilbertson Fujifilm's latest Instax Mini is very similar to the popular bubble gum-looking models like the Mini 11 (don't buy) and Mini 12, but uses a more understated, camera-like design. If you don't need the case and film, you can snag just the Mini 41 for $99 ($21 off), though the film pack bundle is a better deal. TV and Audio Deals This a great deal on our favorite TV. It offers solid HDR, has good black levels, which help it get an impressive amount of contrast, along with rich, natural colors. Through in some nice gaming features, and the intuitive Google TV interface and you have an excellent TV. This QLED TV has excellent clarity, accurate and intense colors, and brightness levels that make it look great even in the sunniest rooms. It's not the best when looking at from the side, but its mini LED backlight gives you nice deep blacks and helps the image look nice and crisp. Sony's Bravia 8 II is a truly beautiful TV, with pristine image clarity and incredibly vivid colors. It looks good from the side, and has some nice gaming features. The black levels aren't the deepest, and the overall contrast is less than some others, but otherwise this a great TV. These affordable clip-based earbuds are perfect for the gym. They sound good enough for working out, and they come with a nice large charging case that is easy to keep track of. At this price, might as well grab two pair. The Roku 4K streaming stick is the best way to watch the latest shows and movies on your TV. You get all the same great apps as other devices, but also a voice remote and support for Dolby Vision HDR. Every podcast you listen to probably started out with this mic. It sounds great, looks great, and has nice physical controls, like a volume knob. There are better mics out there, but not at this price. Home Deals This is the Best Robot Vacuum you can buy. It'll vacuum, mop, automatically empty its bin,a nd even wash the mop. Pair all that with reliable navigation and this deal discount and you have a winning combo. We also love that there's no camera, so it can't spy on you. The Meater Pro XL is the mega-sized version of a smart thermometer that reviewer Martin Cizmar is testing. There are four separate wireless probes so you can track temps in multiple things or multiple areas of that massive brisket you're smoking. Walmart's deal saves you $80, an extra $5 off over Amazon. If you've got a Google smart home, this is the outdoor security camera for you. It's got a nice magnetic mount, and can take in a 130-degree field of view. With 1080p video (nice, sharp, HDR video at that) and night vision it'll give you a good view of wherever you aim it. It also sports a clear speaker and microphone. Outdoor and Fitness Deals The best overall fitness tracker you can buy, the Fitbit Charge 6 is great for its accuracy, affordability, and high-end features. It pairs well with Android or iOS and integrates with Google Maps and YouTube Music. There's also great battery life and support for a full suite of health metrics. The Inspire 3 is Fitbit's cheapest tracker—proof that you needn't spend a fortune to get a great fitness tracker. Battery life is excellent (up to 10 days) and the bright AMOLED screen makes it easy to see your stats even though it's on the small side. Want a fitness tracker that isn't so massive on the wrist and looks more like, well, a watch? That's where the Lily comes in. Despite its watch-looks, it's still a fully functional fitness tracker. You can operate the watch either through two buttons on the side or the unobtrusive LCD touchscreen display. One of the smallest, lightest satellite messengers, the best part about the InReach Mini 2 is that the battery lasts a long time. It connects to the Iridium satellite network, so you can send messages and check in with loved ones from just about anywhere.

I love Microsoft's new 12-inch Surface Pro and it's $685 for Prime Day
Microsoft's new 12-inch Surface Pro is awesome, and at $115 off at Best Buy, it's a fantastic deal to jump on during Amazon Prime Day. Both Amazon and Microsoft are selling it for $699.99. No matter where you buy it, you can use the discount to cover most of the cost of the $150 keyboard, which anyone who's interested int he Surface Pro should probably buy. Microsoft's latest Surface Pro is smaller, with a new design and updated keyboard. It's powered by Qualcomm's Arm64 Snapdragon X Plus chip. Microsoft rounded off the edges on the new 12-inch Surface Pro. You can think of it as a smaller, refined version of the Snapdragon X Plus Surface Pro from last year. If you haven't used a Surface Pro before, this one feels more like a larger iPad to use than previous models, just with a full version of Windows 11 installed. And, for me, that OS means I'll be able to do real work from pretty much anywhere. That's not always true with applications on my M4 iPad Pro, though that should improve a bit once the multitasking updates arrive in iPadOS 26. The Verge's Tom Warren reviewed the 12-inch Surface Pro in June. Like me, he also digs its fanless design, great battery life, and sturdier keyboard. I agree with him that Microsoft still needs to improve its software experience for tablet mode; I still pick up my iPad when I need to do tablet stuff, not the Surface Pro. It's just the better device when I want a screen to read the news, browse the web, or text friends using dedicated tablet apps. But, for everything else, Microsoft's latest tablet suits my needs.
